Why don't more people leave reviews on games?

Do you review games on F95?

  • I don't review games because I am beating my dick like it owes me money.

Ladies and gentlemen of culture. I come to you with a very simple question.

Why is it that posts will have thousands of views, a couple hundred reactions, and only twelve ratings? It is due to the word requirement? Is it because it is difficult to type with just the one hand? Is it because F95 doesn't have rewards for using the rating system?

We are doing each-other a disservice by allowing games to go unrecognized as titillating or heinous. Why is this?

Please grant me this knowledge, I beseech thee.

Very true. I get multiple comments everyday, every time I get a review (rare) my face lights up like a kid in the candy store

It's common sense that people who bother to review a product is in the minority. How small a percentage? Quick googling gives 5-10%. For coomers that fap to pixels, writing reviews is probably even less of a priority. Basically, why would people spend time to do something when they get nothing out of it? Only porn snobs, fangay shills, or butthurt whiners will spend the extra time to get their opinion out there.

If I leave a review I need to have something to say (positive and/or negative) just a meh okay isn't really satisfying to type. This also means it often takes quite a while to write and I don't feel like doing that all the time.
Another issue is I may release a game (as soon TM as this site's soon TM) and I feel a bit icky criticizing other devs when I know my creative work isn't/won't be a masterpiece either. I flip on this back and forth every so often though.

Because my decision to play a game is base off tags, genres, and opening images. I don't think I have ever read a review on here. Sometimes when I am looking for the compressed version do I read comments and that might steer me away but 80% I jump in and see what's up.

I assure you that you do not want a review from me. I am very demanding, if I had to review and rate my own game I would shoot myself for making such a piece of garbage.
Seriously, the more people review games, the less quality the reviews have. You want that?

The truth is the average consumer comes across so much content that most of it doesn't stand out against the background noise of other things they've consumed. Out of every TV show you've seen, how many have impacted you so strongly that you've gone out and sung its praises to your friends and/or on social media? Same question for movies, books, music... Most of life is unremarkable. C'est la vie.

Also, trying to wring feedback out of people is hell.

I'm picky and the majority of the games are not to my liking. For a review to not get deleted, you have to write it in more or less detail. I haven't left reviews by now because the games I got to play are either in the progress, abandoned or bad. Games that are completed and good I have to write review though.

Because you don't need tens of thousands of reviews to adequately rate a product. As a consumer, you only need ONE review, the only catch is that you need to know how closely you align with the reviewer's sensibilities.

Ratings are not worth much. I mean, look at you, promoting one of the most hated games on this site, if we're taking aggregate score as the metric to go by. The word requirement is made to make review bombing a bit harder, and make ratings at least somewhat useful. Honestly the bar should be raised to 500. Instituting a reward system will only stimulate some degens to farm this new form of karma, which will tank the quality on average. No, please no, don't advocate for that.

If I write one, I want to do it well and that's time consuming. And I don't have the motivation for most games I try, I have to like at least the story or the sexual content. And often if I feel it's somewhere in the 3 star zone I just don't see why I'd even bother.

Honestly I do review most games now days but it does feel pointless at times. Either not enough content on some games to give a review or i'll come across a game and seems like alot of reviews are 5 star with little to no substance to it and kind of feels pointless to make a attempt.

As someone who does read (and write) reviews, I will say it's not pointless at all. To make an impact your review needs to articulate why a game is or isn't worth playing that's not obvious from the OP of the game thread. As such, a review stating "wow, beautiful art, the best game I played 5/5" is useless and is ignored. You already know what the artwork looks like, that's what screenshots are for.

yeah true it isn't pointless but does feel like it at times on certain AVN's when that is what alot of the reviews are like 5/5 good art etc etc is all I was saying. But I don't fully trust reviews anyways and just use it as a baseline / to get a general idea of the game . I don't really use them to see if a game is or isn't for me. As ive played games where has alot of negative reviews and I enjoyed or a game that is loved like Game of Hearts and hated it.

I tend to try to leave a review on every game with a minimum of content.
Sometimes I feel like an asshole, because it's ridiculous to review porn games, because you elevate yourself as a "porn sommelier," and that's sad enough.
And the worst thing is, most games are crap (Not that it's too easy to make a decent porn game), because either the dialogue sucks, or there are just wooden animations, or the lighting doesn't make sense...so you start to feel even more "dick".

Before starting a game, I wanted feedback...and it was hard to find serious reviews (Either they were exclusively useless complaints or they kept really little sense and nothing relevant was written)

That's why I started reviewing games. My reviews probably suck as well, but I try to give an idea of what will be found for those who read as well.

Some times when it is pure crap I put a dry one explaining why that game should be avoided and that's it.

But why should the average player care?
As they have already written, leaving a serious review is a waste of time. Nothing is earned in doing so.

Writing serious reviews takes time and effort, and local coomers are hardly worth either.
Most 'games' here aren't worth it, nor does the F95 staff look like they even remotely appreciate reviewers.

I only do it when i have enough inspiration for it, and lately that's not very often since games on here are rarely inspiring.:coffee:
