Why IA CG art is so crappy?

I’ve seen incredible art in Nijisanji. You’d think that using AI-generated art would speed up the production of that kind of game, but the art in question is still awful.

AI if far from providing perfect results. Where you do see great AI results, this is possibly due to:

1. You're only seeing the renders which made the cut. Many renders are flawed in some way and if the artist can't fix them, they'll get deleted. If the artist has a strong machine and/or deep pockets for online rendering, they'll be able to render a lot of images and choose the perfect ones, but if their resources are limited, they'll be forced to use imperfect images.

2. There is some skill needed for post work on images. Inpaininting, Photoshop and other skills and tools can push a mediocre result to be good. Not all developers posses these skills.

3. Complexity of subject matter. AI will easily generate some scenes/poses/interactions but will absolutely fail to render others. If the developer is going for something exotic, coupled with the previous two bullets they might be forced to use imperfect images because the AI failed to produce good results.

This is due to the nature of diffusion models, which was basically all AI art. ChatGPT's new way of image generation will cause a paradigm shift. No longer does the images start from random noise background. It's built up bit by bit, like what it does with text outputs. The adherence to simple conversational prompts and the ability to contain previous iterations of image outputs within the context window means you WILL get exactly what you envision.

What's more, #2 is also addressed because you don't need finicky inpainiting anymore. You can just tell the AI to fix this part or change the style to something else, or add a little something.

The only issue is the chatGPT filtering, so we are waiting for the chinese knockoff.

I'm no AI expert, but this is actually the crux of it, isn't it? We can't (reliably) use ChatGPT for porn at this stage, can we?

Definitely not. The image filter is unimaginably more strict than whatever they may have on the text side, for the obvious reasons.

But this industry moves at light speed. Others will copy it to keep up. Banking on deepseek version lol.

No, people cannot.

But they can put an AI art generator such as Stable Diffusion on their computer and then train it on the porn they want to have it generate. They don't need ChatGPT.

I mean, hell, look at how Uberpie has trained Stable Diffusion on his own art for "Taffy Tales" - he creates next to nothing by his own hand nowadays.

AI is scary and amazing simultaneously!

I knew it would hit the text world and authors and news like a tidal wave. I didn't predict it to go after art so fast though! At the rate we're at it will probably be stunningly amazing in a few years and in a decade or so I wouldn't be surprised if there are entire movie studios doing it all by AI.

I see what we have now as the Atari of AI. Imaging what the Unreal Engine of AI will be 20 years from now. Gonna be earth shattering.
