"Sweetie" yeah, definitely a reddit poster. :ROFLMAO:
i dont quite understand why that would be an insult, depending on what subreddits you post on

like i use the college football, soccer, college baseball subreddits to talk sports, and a bunch of NSFW subreddits to fap, does that make me a redditor?

It wasn't. I was referencing my first post about how this seems like something you'd find reddit, specifically on the Sims or Inzoi subreddits, where it'd make way more sense to discuss.

I think it's way too early to say it failed. It's not looking great now but things could easily turn around. This is an infinite replay value game, a sandbox and something that will be relevant for a long time to come.
Anyway, saying that it's a failure, especially by comparing the game to The Sims 4, is ridiculous. One can not compare a game that started two months ago, with a game that benefited from near to 30 years of experience, plus 10 years of improvements; 1987, Maxis released its first simulation game, 1997, The Sims was released, 2014 The Sims 4 was released.

Just want to say I love the Sims and blew untold hours into all of them. More recent ones feel a bit more DLC vicious but I still love them too much.

To their credit, some of those DLCs do actually function. This is a joke about how several of them straight up do not work yet EA stills sells them for 20$.
Imagine a world where Horse Armor never happened and people just made the whole game and then a Part 2 as a whole new game later, instead of indefinitely selling tiny bits for a game forever.

Cant wait to see how many years the next GTA will sell stuff. 15 years of GTA 6 is ahead of us.

Well, didn't we lived in that world?

But in the same time, I understand the burden for studios. Making a game cost so much and need to much times, that it's not possible anymore.
Would they make extension like they were in the 90s, they should starts working on it one year before the game release if they want it to be available one year after the said release. But this lead to two issues:
Firstly they would works on a game that isn't finalized, what imply that any correction would need to be done twice (once for the game, once for the extension). Secondly, seen how a part of the community react, they would quickly be shamed because they should have included this in the initial release.

Not that it excuse the price, and even less the overpriced purely cosmetic extension, just that we can't anymore expect games to works like they did when 10 peoples were enough to make one in less than one year.

Or EA could stop selling the DLCs they know don't function at all (like my wedding stories). That's not hard at all.

Edit: Scratch that, when it first released my wedding stories actually broke base game functionality as well. I don't know if they changed that, but that's 20$ for... breaking the game.

Inzoi is a nothing burger in a pretty package, that's all.
You can't beat Sims if you only make an illusion of trying.

I uh... quoted the wrong part. :ROFLMAO: Meant to quote the part about the burden on studios.
Well, weren't you proving me right in this case? It's so a burden that they can't even have their extension working correctly ;)

More seriously, you're obviously right, EA is clearly over abusing, but this point to another issue with those extensions. Nowadays most of them are in fact done by third parties. Many small studios, and wanabe future hi-tech companies, live through commission like this. AAA studios can't divert their workforce, already working on another game, and ask them to make this or that extension for them.
And, while it obviously don't excuse the fact that EA sell extension that doesn't work, it explain why those extensions tend to lack of consistency in terms of interest and/or quality.

"Its Early Access."
If you buy an incomplete game its a gamble, always has been, always will be.

Maybe wait for a release and read the reviews, rather than bank in on the promises.

Same goes for triple AAA games/DLC, don't be an unpaid play tester, Wait for release, read reviews, buy if not complete bs.

Problem is Sims targets a very different crowd compared to other games, so they'll probably never know this.

(Would also be a little hypocritical of me to go with a "don't play unfinished games" route :ROFLMAO:)

Buyer beware isn't something we tolerate in any other industry. It shouldn't be tolerated in the games industry, much less defended like this.
Caveat emptor? Yes, it is a core principal of sales. Misrepresenting a product/service etc. is where the laws in most jurisdictions occur (outside of safety standards, defective items etc.).

If you order food from the same place and it comes with a turd in it each time, the fact you ordered again IS on you. 'Should' and 'Does' are different things. Cars should give way at a pedestrian crossing, doesn't mean you close your eyes and run out in front of traffic on one.

Accountability is with the people still purchasing these things. Get a refund if its defective, many platforms such as steam & even playstation frequently allow these. Throwing your hands up and saying 'thats not fair someone should do something' isn't going to change anything. The reason it exists in games is because in any other industry the perpetrator would go bankrupt, something slowly coming to fruition in games. People have finally wised up & actually think before buying.

Its not hard to NOT preorder crap and wait for a review. Or, understand it is a risk that may not pay off. I purchased an early access game recently (manorlords) because I wanted to give money to help the project. Doesn't mean I expect it to be perfect, as far as I am concerned it was a donation with an added bonus.

LOL...

Every connected shit works on subscription and need a live internet connection. If you stop paying the subscription, or if the service goes down (or is closed), your US$ thousands connected whatever (faucet, fridge, car, door lock, ...) will not works anymore. And I don't even talk about those that show you tons of ads in place of needing a subscription.

If someone orders food from an place and they get a turd in in it multiple times, then no one who is sane is going to blame the customer for "ordering again" or some nonsense like that. The place that they ordered from would get the backlash and rightly so.
'the definition of stupidity is doing the same thing twice and expecting a different outcome'

You have missed the point, stop buying from there, buy from somewhere else. Stop preordering and blindly buying games off hype and they will either improve or go bust (making way for others).

No demand = no market.
