Why is MC's father always a prick?

Why do in-game dads get so much slack from the devs? They're either 'killed' or made assholes. Sometimes they are even dead assholes! And some of it is even in games that are considered good or perfect even. For example:

The only games I can think of in which MC has a good relationship with his old man are BADIK and Second Chance. Still, in those games the situation is reversed (just without fucking the dad). IIRC in BADIK MC's mother is absent and in Second Chance the mom is a massive bitch. It's like relationships get ruined when the son becomes a MC. Or rather your parents having an unstable relationship makes you perfect for porn game MC (and if that's the case where is my harem?).

And I get that getting rid of the dad makes it easier for the dev to make a relationship between the MC and his mom happen. But that is an overused trope. Plus WVM isn't even incest game so it doesn't work in this game.

And don't get me wrong I like the game I mentioned, I'm just tired of the bad dad trope even more than the dead father trope. The reason I created this thread is to hear your opinions about this topic, whether you thought about it and where do you think it came from.

It's honestly just easier that way. Ignoring all the NTR related reasons;

Authority Figures get in the way and restrict the authors ability to write the story in the way they want to, hence the amount of orphan anime protagonists. Plus, in a adult games it gives the dev options to make either the protagonist more dominant via "man of the house" type of thing, or a more dominant mother figure creating more of a femdom sort of relationship. Either way, it works out well for adult games.

It's also works as an easy to write and easy to understand conflict. Make an abusive family member and boom, you got yourself an easy story arc! Exact same thing happened in MNF.

Good question but.... what do you think? if it's an overused trope how would you replace it in an incest game AND non-incest game?

You are right about all the asshole dads, but also think about how a good dad would react in an incest story to his son having sex with his daughters all over the house and having sex with his wife? If we go further, would a good dad not want to spend time with his family? that would cut into the time and opportunities the son would have with his sisters and mom.
The mom and sisters have a role in the story as LI but what would a good dads role in the story be? you can't use him as someone to give advice, he'd be in the way for the sex scenes. What would his role be in a story where the mc is inlove with his mom and sisters or trying to corrupt them? What interactions could the mc and a good dad have to move the story forward? After all that there would still be the people complaining that the game is NTR...

In a non-incest story how would a good dad react to his son bringing woman after woman, girl after girl home and having sex with them all over the place? How could the son do this and NOT be seen by his sisters or mother or the dad himself? What would a good dad say about him having sex in front of his sisters? If the son doesn't have sex at home then the only real point to "home" is a place to sleep and pass time? why not just sleep at the girl or woman's house you had sex with and leave the "home" out all together? Then do you really even need to see the rest of the family? At this point what role would a good dad have in the story?

It is a good question but in my opinion I don't think there are any other real options without making any story really DARK.
Having a good dad that is alive and at home would put the MC in the position of screwing over his good dad who is supposed to love and either stealing his family or setting a very bad example and that is a pretty dark twist to any story

I've been writing erotica for 25+ years, and I can't count the number of dads I've killed, sent AWOL or otherwise fucked with.

Why?

1.This is common with every story, not necessarily porn: you want as few characters as possible. Ever noticed how in most movies the protagonist's family is on the small side? This is because the more people you add, the more you have to describe the interactions of the protagonist's with them. And in a porn story, anything without tits is an obvious burden.

2. It's a great way to mature a protagonist. Many protagonist are portrayed at the peak of their virility, i.e. late teens or early 20s, but you want them to act mature and confident, not like moronic high schoolers. Why are they so mature? Because dad is dead, they were forced to mature early. Convenient!

3. In incest stories, people will have no problem with the protag seducing (and impregnating) his mother and siblings when the father is gone (or an asshole who deserves it) but having a living, positive dad around can be awkward for some.

So: goodbye, dad!

Writting a father as a good person is hard.

It also works as an easy way to give the MC a background. All are cliché, but all works well.

MC is an idiot ? It's because he haven't had a fatherly figure in his youth.
MC is a jerk ? It's because his father was one.
MC is naive and weak ? It's because he was raised by his mother.
MC is submissive ? It's because he was raised by his mother and only have older sisters.
MC is dominant ? It's because he was raised by his mother and only have younger sisters.
MC is introvert as fuck ? It's because his father died and he still struggle with this.
MC is extrovert as fuck ? It's because his father was alcoholic who always invited his friends to party at home.

And so on. A dozen of words and you've described the whole background of the MC.

Underdog dialog is easier to be funny.
