You'll get 100GB+ games because they want 4K animation everywhere. Next they need to use AI to figure out better compression methods to make the movies digestible in a game with lots of them.
Natural progression. My first computer game was just called Ninja. It required 256KB (the K is correct, lol) ram to run.

heh. Don't even get me started on how the 90's had the best programmers (to a degree!).

I feel like having restrictions on sizes and such forced people to be better and get better and do more with less. Once CD-ROMs came around things got worse and developers got lazier and worse at being creative and optimizing.

The down side of that though was hilarious 20 disk installs of things like Windows, and disk trays and cases that took up a lot of space. And they got damaged easily or corrupted.

It was the EMM386 of times, it was the "modify your config.sys, autoexec.bat, and tinker with IRQ settings"'s of times.

IMO it wasn't only making them better, it was making them more creative. They had to do so much with so little space and some of the best innovations in gaming came during that time.

I miss config.sys and autoexec.bat. I used to have a custom boot rig that had my computer loading with darth vader's voice asking "What is thy bidding my master" etc. etc.
