RPGM - Completed - Winter Memories [v1.07] [DojinOtome]

I will preface my review with this: Play the side stories and mini-games.

9/10, and I ain't even halfway through the game yet.

Winter Memories improves on the prequel, Summer Memories in every way possible, and I initially went in not even wanting to play it, because I was somewhat bitter and irritated how, no matter how I filtered my searches, this game and it's prequel kept coming up at the top of all the ratings of all the websites and game distributors for adult games.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LIKE THIS GAME, AND I DO ANYWAYS.

A lot of the H-Scenes aren't my taste, are mostly just smut for smut's sake, and lean heavily into kinks that I actively don't like-

BUT-

I play it anyways because it's a DAMN GOOD game, and parts of the side stories are genuinely too damn entertaining to not enjoy.

This is a 9/10 game with an 8/10 cast, 7.5/10 H-Scenes, 10/10 gameplay (for a life sim), and as a BONUS, a 10/10 Shonen that's BEGGING to become an actual series on it's own.

I PLAY THIS GAME FOR THE MINI-GAMES DAMMIT!

Most of these waifus can go to hell if it means MORE MENTAI BEING A SHONEN PROTAGONIST-

I swear to god, they did not have to go THIS hard for a side story/side mechanic in a series, BUT THEY DID, and though it's often played for laughs because of how corny it is, I WOULD BUY A WHOLE FRANCHISE, that's just the Menko equivalent of Yu-Gi-Oh/Beyblade/Bakugan, with some harem shenanigans happening on the side/in the background.

I CAME TO GIVE IT A CHANCE-

AND I'M ANGRY TO ADMIT MY EXPECTATIONS WERE NUKED-

The best romance in this series is the bromance between Boku and Mentai basically just being two completely different genres of protagonist, and still being best friends anyways.

We've HAD Boku being a harem protagonist with Shonen hijinx happening in the background, NOW I want the other side where it's Mentai being a shonen hero, with Boku in the background getting into hentai hijinx.

This is unironically, the best character dynamic I've ever seen in an H-game, and it has NOTHING to do with the hentai AT ALL.

GIMME A SPIN OFF CALLED "MENKO MEMORIES", AND I WILL DIE HAPPY AND LAUGHING.

The rest of the game is good too by the way, this is just my favorite part personally, this game has some tags like "urination" that are a turn off for a lot of people, but honestly, if you can get past that, this is one of the most in-depth H-games in terms of actual gameplay I've ever seen with mechanics for fishing, cooking, Menko, homework, building relationships, avoiding detection, shrine donations, a fair amount of skills that aren't just sex animations, a working calendar and time system where each action and move you make costs time, and each day is broken up into segments, but unlike the first where it was just Morning/Noon/Evening/Night-

You still have those time blocks (here split into Morning/Noon/Dusk/Evening/Late Night), but each actually have a set amount of minutes in the day that they last for, so you can actually do more in a single time block than just one main action like it was for the previous game.

You also have multiple ways of leveling up and progressing, being able to unlock skills from making memories at the end of each day, and being able to increase your stamina, lust, money or memory points by leveling up AS you're doing activities each day.

Sure, a lot of the game is mini-games, but they're mini-games that actually have a meaningful impact in how you progress, which is pretty good, in a weird way, I'd almost compare this game to a lot of farming games? Games like Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley, but if all the farming were instead thrown out in favor of more focus on relationship building.

There's also achievements that each unlock new features and mechanics when you unlock them, like having tons of sex unlocks an achievement which grants the ability for you to be able to make a mess and not have it be found suspicious, or clean so many times that whenever you clean, it cleans the entire house all at once.

And all that is coming out of an RPGMaker game, an engine that's often used to not very good effect, or has to explicitly lean into a very specific style of game in order to be good, but here, it doesn't even look or play like RPGMaker, if I weren't explicitly told that was the engine by the tags, I never would've been able to tell and would've assumed that it's made in something like Ren'Py, or something completely different.

It seems as though the devs made this game from the ground up to be almost entirely original, and I respect it for that.

Overall, there's much I could say, except-

Women are for winter, but Menko is forever.
Believe in the power of friendship.

One of the best games on this site, and even better than Summer Memories. There is a ton of content, with multiple characters and side activities. The writing is much better than it needs to be, with endearing characters who have distinct personalities, and moments that are genuinely clever and funny. All of this works alongside the game's nonlinear structure to make the world very fun to explore. I can only hope the creator decides to make a third game in the series, maybe with the protagonist's mother and possible sisters as heroines as well. I recommend playing Summer Memories first, but definitely check this out.

Another banger from doujinotome. I didn’t even realise that it was released. The game play is more or less the same. A big difference in both games are the time periods for completion the original game had around one month but the sequel has a skill that extends its time period but the general time frame to complete it is around 24 so days I believe. Other than that the quality of life improvements and new additions are immaculate. The gameplay and story is respectful to a point that the game feels like we are revisiting the summer memories series in a beaut and heart touching way. I am looking forward to the addition of dlc and new content from this series entry.

First of all.
What make sharp sensation really excite - it is possibility to get caught and failled,but succesed and get undercovered anyway with right-timing action management.
Good old formula from Kojiiimboooooo's MG what worked perfectly in Summer - almost viped out here.
Less vigilance by others and more free actions = less challenge and fun.You got too much free time and has nothing interesting
to do with that.Only one threat - Uncle can be easilly removed.
In Summer, you was more tied up by resources and daytime that made you come up with building your own strategy to get as much
funny activities as possible.And knowing all the possibilities later, it gave a good motivation to go rerun.
In winter - you got all FUN content almost with no efforts right from the start - and it give a flavorless taste of it.

Secondly.
Corruption It is not growing,cause almost all girls already corrupted from the start.(fall in Boku)
And every event feeling like grindwall to another H event,but not really like girl development that would lead us to sense of achieving something special.Separately, there is now a function chat to girl for that.
WHAT they could at least implement - jealousy system - the more you waste time on another girls the more affection - decreasing.
Silent fuck them in secret or..
Achieve to relationships to coexist with certain girls at once and get group sex as final reward. Like..
Kagami/Mizuki - find out that they are neighbors > quests > double H ivents > groupe sex as reward.
By now you are wasting too much attention on same girl in solo route and it already was in Summer,it is not interesting anymore.

In other hand Hikari route really get vibe like how good it was in previous game.Limitations and hiding accidently started relatinonship temporarily unable to have sex in cause of another character nearby,cracking and sloooowly corrupting her determination - It makes the blood boil!

So it is what it is.

tldr; Ridiculous. This game is not just everything a porn game should be, but everything a sequel should be. It succeeds in almost every way in almost every category. I wouldn't put it at #1 in any one aspect, but it's #1 for most boxes checked. If you're into kind, older women, do play.

The warning at the beginning is legit. You will enjoy this even if you didn't complete Summer Memories, but you will enjoy this much more if you have, and Summer Memories will feel bad to play if you try and do it second.

Gameplay 5/5:

What a refreshing change to see a real sandbox game with proper balance of play/sex. Usually all we see here is visual novels that are either one-way spacebar stories or half-assed click grinders, most of which use the same uncreative models and animations to tell the same uncreative stories. Either that or garbage RPG Maker games with barely a badly drawn boob between boring guesswork as you run around hitting z. Occasionally we see a well made sidescroller or metroidvania, but these often put in the sex content as an afterthought and you usually have to lose to see it which means more time. Their flaws usually stand out so heavily because the sacrifices to gameplay or sex are obvious and profound.

Winter memories stands between these boxes and often apart from them.

Not a lot of the gameplay is super involved. Yes it's a location clicker. There's some reflex stuff, a bit of thinking, and a lot of trial and error, but there is always a way to outwit the grind whether through items or hints and I never felt stuck or confused. Timing is everything and if one attempt at progress with a girl doesn't work out you know you're only missing something simple and there's always other things to do instead while you come back around and always opportunities for sex in between. It is very open and adjustable to your preference.

In the later days, when your power and capabilities outpaces the remaining unlockable content, it can feel a bit of a drag trying to unlock the last few things, but the game doesn't demand it of you. Time is always skippable and you can end the game whenever you want with any of the completed girls.

This is a masterclass in the hentai game space and devs should take notes on the near flawless execution of a simple premise. Balance, pacing, and content are the keys to success here. There's always a way around, there's always something to do, and you set your own timing with enough constraints to push you forward.

Sex 4/5:

Simply put, time and effort is rewarded with excellent content. I understand this might be unfair to compare with stuff done by solo devs who don't have the time or experience to compete with the quality and/or quantity of what's in Winter Memories, but let this game be a role model.

I'm not super picky about my fetishes as I'm pretty vanilla, but to be more general and constructive, I can say that for me and hopefully many of you, variety and access are the most important things in the sexual content of games barring any personal preferences.

Access - How easy and often can I get to the juicy stuff while still having it feel earned?
Variety - Is there enough different scenes/girls/positions/dialogue to keep me interested?

This game nails both of those requirements without sacrificing any of its story or gameplay to do so. If you are into nurturing, kind, horny older women, then you've passed the only check required to get off to this one. All the edges are polished and there's as much of it as you can stand. It helps that a lot of the warming up was done in the first game.

My only complaints are minor nitpicks when it comes to variety. There are lots of girls to fuck, lots of ways to fuck them, and lots of hot dialogue around and during it, but not much to differentiate the characters, even less than the first game. All the girls have pretty much the same body type and personality. The game spends a lot of time trying to convince you that they're different, but they're different in plot and backstory only.

The sexual content does start to feel samey by the endgame no matter which girl you're spending most of your time with. And fair enough, there's only so much excellent pixel work and animations you can expect and it makes sense that a lot of it is copied between the characters, that's the sacrifice they made to have so much content in the first place, but even the variations on their dialogue is miniscule (at least when it comes to sex) and that gets pretty noticeable long before the game is over.

Story: 4/5

I try not to rate the plot and characters by comparing them to other games, but by gauging how successful I feel the game is at pulling off what it intended to do. In terms of overall engagement, this would be closer to a 3/5, but I give it 4/5 because it feels like they genuinely did exactly what they wanted to even when that wasn't to my taste.

There isn't much to analyze or criticize. It's a relaxing slice of life vacation plot where your young protag-kun has a magical dick that all girls will eventually wanna jump on once they are lonely/horny enough. That said, there are many welcome variations on the tropes and some standout aspects I'll list here:

1. It's less that your dick is magic, and more that every other dick in town is seemingly useless. Protag doesn't even have a particularly big one, he just uses it more and better.
2. There are no awkwardly forced supernatural elements to the game that aren't either just implied or tongue-in-cheek. Nothing that makes you roll your eyes or is in any way vital to the story being told.
3. The Mentai sidestory is absolutely buckwild and hilarious, even more so if you played the first game. It's basically a perfect parody of the kind of shitty games and bad anime that we always expect using pogs, with one twist that had me laughing out loud, and another that actually managed to be badass despite the whole subplot being a joke.
4. At no point does the writer(s) get in their own heads and waste your time trying to justify, explain, or complain about how this kid is banging so many girls. They trust your suspension of disbelief for the sake of the game. It's also not actually a harem though the family is kinda half there.

The characters are all cute/sexy and well designed if a bit too similar. Each story on it's own has a beginning, middle, and end, though only the Mentai one is really memorable. The side characters are fun and the dialogue can be pretty funny when it isn't just rolling around in feelgood encouragements or flat out debauchery.

Overall, this is just a gem and one I'll go back to a lot because it isn't just a great hentai game, it's actually a pretty good game.

-So why it is so good? If you now what you are doing there is barely any grind ... every day feels rewarding

-You have this rpg"ish" feeling coz you have to unlock skills
-The Characters are all sexy (especially if you are into busty women)
-There is a "most of the time" good inbuild walkthrough
- Minigames are easy to understand "and easy in generall"
-This is one of the few games with " replayability" (i hope this is a real english sentence xD)

No long grinding + no straight forward path ( you can decide what to do)

winter memories has more stuff to do, collect, and more seggs... what can i say? animation is great, and the quality has really increased

The perfect simple HGames that offer a lot of fun in the gameplay while giving reward with H Event for each heroine. There is a reason why summer memories by far my favourite and the sequel winter memories enchance experience a lot and improve feature in the game while adding more character and interaction from past game summer memories. The game connected to the ending in summer memories so finishing that game is a must. i found my self taking this game strategicly when managing every single minute i spend (game time), while playing a lot of other mini games making my character unstopable god sex machine. it really fun.

This is probably the best ACTUAL porn game on the site, with of course, its original Summer Memories (I beat both games 100%). The gameplay is very similar to the Boku No Natsuyasumi games (even the original name given to the main character here is Boku) but more streamlined so porn is the main event.

Gameplay wise, this one expands and makes better a lot of gameplay elements of the first, making for a much better game gameplay wise.Its incredibly surprising that the art is redone to be even more impressive than in the original, and all the extra town girls now get proper long stories with actual endings for each one of them, not only the 3 main house girls like the original.
The achivement process, were you get rewards that impact the game (some in amazing ways, like the anime viewer) its amazing, and the new game plus, that you will need if you go for 100%, is also better than the first game one.
And holy shit, the fun that is each girl having 3 different pantiesand you tryingdifferent variations (some panties look amazing) is absolutely great. ANd they seem to be updating that part to add even more.

Like everything here is better, and I mean that when the original was already great, but the jump of qulaity when you play both games back ot back is outstanding.
Hopefully, like the game implies theres a 3rd entry with the spring vacation.

If i have to say some negatives:
-In this game, all the girls repeat, except 2 new ones (which are actually tricky to unlock if you are only following the house girl paths at first). While this is great because it expands more the town girls that were and afterthought in Summer Memories, to give them a full fleshed story, and Rio gets a lovely dovey second part of her story (best girl with the gym teacher, which sI d have to say, sadly her route is not the best in this game), it does impact a little bit the enjoyment of more of the same.
If spring memories (if it exists) want to keep the trend of everyobody returns, I at least hope they add more than 2 new girls (5 would be ideal).

-This is more my own opinion, and i know the game wouldnt have worked as well thematically, but I would have prefered Boku being at least the age of the cousins. Of course, it wouldnt feel the same, but it is what it is. DO not take this as a serious negative though.

-The translation of this version is not the best compared to summer memories (this is edited MTL, while summer is fully translated),but hey, is the best MLT ive ever seen, as its heavily edited.

In summary, i would love a western version of this game, i dont mean being about a kid and its vacation, but the gameplay loop, but with more western written characters and variety would be incredible to see.

If you actually want to play a real game with porn, do not pass the chance to play summer memories and winter memories.

Really fun overall, the characters are the same as in the first part of the series, except for a 2 additions. This slightly takes away from the experience, as I'm not a huge fan of the 2 new characters. You don't start completely from 0, as in the first part, but more like re-unlock all of the characters. Overall, I think this'd be a good conclusion to this series, as it seems to me that there isn't much left to do in this series if the creator doesn't want to create a whole new cast of characters.

Excellent game, thank you very much for creating a masterpiece, it would be great if you added more things to the game but it is more than good.

Sequel as good as original game.
We have here highest quality animations, good dialogues and interesting plot.


Here is made few ammendments to gameplay, such as rebalanced skills. Now you cant early rush into passive skill which removes noice during sex scenes, now on early game you need to manage dad's suspicions.


And you have here great christmas theme, it will be perfect to play during winter!

a lot of the small annoying stuff in the first game is gone and it's a lot more enjoyable to play, the quests don't feel so annoying and repetitive, it's just more of the same from the first game but cleaned up!

So, the 2 main directions I'd imagine a sequel of Summertime Memories to go are: either the game starts off with everything in the previous game unlocked but builds upon 3sum/4sum content, or a whole new setting with a new protagonist and heroines. There are probably better ideas that people more creative than myself could come up with. Unfortunately, I feel like the direction they went in is just about the most uninspired and boring one they could have chosen...

It is basically a continuation of the first game, but with all the H-content locked up again. Hardly any of it is new and I even see a couple skills missing (maybe they're unlockable but its still wack). There are some QOL changes, and thankfully there is more to do with the side girls, but this all ends up feeling like a underwhelming expansion than a true sequel.

It also feels a bit like the devs are still trying to find a proper balance between H content and gameplay. The game features a lot of bells and whistles that ultimately feel more pointless than they did in the first game. My lust meter is never full, my stamina meter is rarely empty, and I could cap out my memory meter pretty regularly. The minigames also feel mostly forgotten, which I'm personally fine with since the pog one was the only one I cared about anyway. The game has loads of items which I never felt like I needed to use at any point, but I guess they could be handy.

On a more subjective note, it irks me that these devs can include so many characters yet they almost all have the same body type... Especially with the main 3. The game is still great though, and would be a 5 star game if it wasn't so similar to its predecessor.

It is a very good sequel for Summer Memories.
Finished with Sisters and Mother ending in my first playtime.
You can't play this one if you have not played the prequel. Summer Memories is very good too.

- Art is good in this sequel too.
- Upgraded game system.
- Characters stories development is good enough.
- Some new characters.
- Events are congruent with prequel.
- There is a 4P option available after unlocking certain achivement.
- There is some fetishes variety.

CONS.
- This particular version (1.0.8) needs more work on translation, it is not so bad but needs some corrections and there are some japanesse untranslated texts.
- Text boxes ovelaps over other text boxes.
- Needs MORE ANIMATIONS AND GRAPHIC SCENES. Example: Kiss scenes.
- Needs more internal cumshots views.
- Needs a Harem ending including all the girls.
- All young girls harem ending. All milfs harem ending.

This game is very good.
You can cheat by using a save editor in order to progress faster.
Still discovering endings, there are many endings it seems.
Let's see what more this one have for me. ;-)

This is the much-anticipated and much-deserved sequel to Summer Memories, one of the all-time greats that basically changed the face of incest-themed adult games and one of few games that to date still receives almost universal praise from this community. Winter Memories is a decent game, so although it has its flaws, my penis and I are overall pretty happy.

The most apt description of this game that I can come up with right now is that it's sort of a victory lap, a celebration and an attempt at a repeat of the first game's success. Parts of it are practically a simple rehashing of the old game but during the cold season, not to say that no original elements have been added. In interest of avoiding spoiling anything, I feel that there's not much reason to get more in-depth than that, especially if you've played Summer Memories... you basically know what to expect.

If there was one thing that I, individually, would add to this game to make it all the more pleasurable, it would be an alternative route where the events of Summer Memories had either been magically forgotten by all parties or, better yet, a route where none of it ever happened and he basically had an ordinary vacation there in the summer, with things just NOW turning perverted. The game, as it stands, doesn't have much corruption or subtle, step-by-step progression, because by the time you walk in, all the girls are acutely aware that this will be a repeat of the suck-and-fuck orgyfest that took place during your summer vacation.

Here's a huge fantasy for me: an innocent onee-chan or MILF stripping naked to platonically take a bath or shower with a shota boy, giving it no extra thought because he's too small and young to be a sexual threat or to even look at her body in an indecent way... or at least so she believes. This was something I was personally strongly hoping we could explore a bit more in this game compared to the last one, which sort of lightly touched on this scenario, but really didn't do much with it... basically just a single frame and a line of dialogue from each girl in the early game, then as you unlock sexual favors as options, it quickly turns into something completely lewd and adult, foregoing all pretense of innocence. I know this is a very specific niche, but it would have done a TON for me if we had been able to get more into this type of scenario prior to everything devolving into an all-out sex romp, but the first bath scene in the game has your aunt immediately, very shamelessly, reveal that she remembers everything that happened over the summer just fine and fully intends to continue the debauchery right where we left off.

Maybe it was wishful thinking, but in the early game I swore I was picking up a vibe that we may have the option to make it so the events of the previous game had either been purely MC's imagination running wild and never really happened yet, or make it so they had been purely forgotten by every other party, ensuring that we would be able to enjoy the gradual corruption process of your sweet, gentle, loving family members all over again. I was quite disappointed when she basically just went "Ya I remember lol duh" and casually lets you rail her right from the get-go.

Still a good game, though, and definitely still recommend it to incest addicts like me!

Gameplay is good. Like most of, what I'm going to say, "pixel animated point-click top down" style of games, pratically all interactions are managed by point and clicking, requiring only that you have good observation to spot certain things that will give you a secret skill, achievement, etc. To me, the point of gameplay for these games is to allow H-scenes to happen in a logical and more immersive manner. Other than that, not any good points to say it. The gameplay itself isn't appealing enough to be it's own reason for existing. There's also mini-games, which most are pretty simple and serve to gain money, xp, etc.
Mechanics are quite advanced for these styles of game, having two skill trees, achievements(which give you certain abilities) and a mood system that increases depending on the sex position you choose. Basically, everything is directed towards increasing types of moods and affection(which progress the story for each girl). I can't say that increasing the mood to it's maximum is rewarding enough for all the work you have to go through. But more on that later.

Story should've been probably one of the highest points for the game. It's stronger than many games similar to it. Every girl has a distinct storyline and personality. My issue is that the story focus too much on the sweetness of it all, instead of the forbidden, if not incredibly wrong side of them doing sex with the protagonist. It's not spicy. It's diabetic. My favorite story would have to be Kanae, because it's one of the few where it can't pass as sweet, since the wife is literally cheating on her husband while fucking a kid.

Ambient is great and helps a lot setting the mood for the game. Each scenario feels distinct and it's filled with things to do. Seems like a simple thing, but it's what I find to be one of the best things about this game that others fail to do. Space shouldn't exist for itself. Almost every inch of space in this game(aside from public spaces) is useful for doing H-scenes. This is what game like this should aim at. If the house of your game has a bathroom, then it should have an available H-scene in the bathroom.(be it on the sink, in the shower, etc). If it has a living room then it should have something in the sofa, over or under table, etc. And so on.

Sex scenes. This game prioritizes a lot more quantity over quality. Which isn't to say that it's necessarily a bad thing. Like I said, a lot of space to do H-scene, a lot of girls. But the H-scenes itself are probably the less enjoyable of all the games similar that I encountered. I can't zoom in and most of the sex positions have a angle that doesn't allow you to see the girl(the MAIN POINT of all) and the kid is blocking it. So you see more of the kid than the girl, most of the time and there isn't a transparent option. Even the extra panel that serves as a "zoom" and has more elaborate drawning and animation consist mostly of ass shots(which are pretty good), but don't allow you to enjoy the rest of the body.
The other problem of prioritizing quantity over quality is that there is a lack "personality". In all H-scenes, the character react the same or have the same body language, and the mood system doesn't actually change the H-scene like some "NTR mode" or "Mindbreak" you see in other games. It would be another story if the sex positon were tied to a girl, so you would have something different for each one, but here it's a skill, so you use it on all and it just the same with a different clothing. Sound effects for H-scenes are good and the scenes are fluid.
The game also has a lot CG scenes(for each "chapter" of the story for each girl), which aren't animated or pixelated, but are very good for the most part with good dialogue and sound. There's also "pictures" with a more kid-like drawning which you'll collect during the game.
Customization, if you can call it that, exists, but seems limited for the most part. Depending on the time you choose to do the act, you may find the characters wearing pajama, but, again, the game doesn't seem to take advantage of that, if not for the three main characters(sex during sleep). I want to reiterate that the game has a lot of options. A lot. but still doesn't change the fact that most are mediocre when you really get down to it. Aside from the CG scenes.

I feel like the perfect score for this game would be between 3-4 stars. I would be insane if I called this game average(which is 3/5), but giving 4/5 makes it seem like it's almost perfect and there's lot to improve I think.
