I forgot I had this game on my computer and played it last night and beat it all in one night LOL For the type of game it is, it really is average but there's a lot of improvement that can be done.
Pros:
Pros:
- The game runs a smooth 60 FPS. With how my computer is, I’m amazed at how many enemies could be on the map without it freezing.
- The game saves all the money you make and allows you to keep it when upgrading your stats. When you press the reset button, the game doesn’t take the money away from you like other games would.
- The h gallery can be bought with the money you win even though the conditions are simply to lose with the character on a particular map and beat the boss of said map.
- Each girl has their own pros and cons of using them, specifically their HP stat and starting weapon. Game defaults you to Magical Girl Love because she has the most HP and the largest ranged spell. You don’t have to stick with her though as you can play Magical Girl Money first because she gives the most money upon defeating enemies and will make unlocking stuff easier.
- Even if you lose the map, you get to keep the money for the next run.
- The sprites are adorable, including the enemies…although I find the zombies kind of uncanny.
- I like the attention to detail with how if you don’t play Meow, she will always drive the girl to the destination, but if you play Meow, she drives to the destination on her own.
- Game is as short as the summary says.
- AI is partially used. F95 doesn’t mention it even if it's just the background. I still take that as a negative when you can just grab backgrounds from the game maker instead of using AI to generate it.
- There’s no plot for this game. You just play one of three magical girls or the cat driver, defeat weak enemies, survive for three minutes and then defeat the boss. The tip note only adds a character note for Meow about how she’s the only one who has a driver’s license and it’s not elaborated on. The DLSite says it's because she’s the only adult of the group, but that’s not mentioned in the game.
- The magical girls are not balanced. There is never a reason to play Meow outside of a challenge that doesn’t exist once you know how to play the game or Sapphire who just moves faster on the map. First time players will stick with Love because she’s the default character or move to Money for the 100% completion. Meow also has the misfortune of starting with the star item that moves at random instead of a player controlled weapon (or at least being able to manipulate it based on your movement). Combined with having the lowest HP and she dies without the right equipment.
- Once you know how to play the game, it becomes too easy. The mid-boss that randomly shows up every 30 seconds can drop legendary weapons that make surviving trivial. If you manage to get the Scissor attack (the one that shoots out 9 bullets in one direction in three different angles at rapid speed), you are almost guaranteed victory.
- The laser weapon sucks. Why aren’t you allowed to aim it? Why does it insist on shooting in a random direction with no enemies? If it’s based on luck of the draw, why doesn’t it feel great? It also doesn’t kill the enemy as quickly as the other two legendary specials despite being a big beam.
- Stage 2 is unfair. After playing through all the stages with all the girls, I can say this because of how the purple zombies are programmed. They are bigger than the other enemies on the other maps and they have higher HP than the last enemies on the other maps. They respawn at an alarming rate and if you don’t have the right equipment, you will get swarmed and lose. Unlike the other enemies where there is leeway to squeeze past them, the hurtbox for these enemies are way too big. I have gotten hit when I wasn’t even close to them and then lose a large amount of HP that auto heal can’t recover fast enough. Stage 4 should not be so easy in comparison because it’s a small confined space but at least the hitboxes for the enemies are correct.
- The bosses are a joke in this game. Outside of the first boss who will take you off guard with her charging you and preventing you from moving up without taking huge damage, the rest of them don’t pose the same threat. Boss 2 does the same thing as the first boss but it's the purple zombies that are the bigger issue than her. The third boss has a lot going on, but because of how the map functions, the boss will take more damage ramming into you than you ramming into it. The final boss has an actual pattern, but isn’t aggressive enough to justify it being a good boss. I’m not expecting a Touhou like boss, but if all it does is sometimes ram into you, sometimes throw fireballs that chase you and sometimes place electric balls that go away eventually, it’s not really a challenging final boss especially in a closed space area where the enemies are so easy to beat you can just wait on the other side of the map.
- There’s no achievement system. I think given how the game is, it should have had one. Like how quickly you can kill the boss, how many enemies you killed with a certain character, using only one type of weapon to deal with it, not using healing at all. No hit run. The list can go on. The fact there’s nothing to do after unlocking all the upgrades and the h gallery makes me sad that there isn’t more to do.
- No difficulty section. If you beat the game, you should have a harder difficulty whether it's harder enemies that have more HP, respawn faster and do more damage or bosses that actually do something.
- H scenes are just one scene animated. They are nice to look at but overall boring and not fappable.
