Ren'Py - Witch Hunter [v0.25 EX] [Lazy tarts]

Lets start with the good, Art is very nice....

Now the bad stuff...
Belive it or not but almost from the start when you get to map so you can move around, you will run into "in development" stuff....considering this is an 8 year old game that just blew my mind.....

Most girls i dident really care for and with game being all out linear/kinetic your forced to be with everyone and do every quest in order, so it takes ages to get to the one or two you like and that makes for one damn boring game.
Also theres no choices at all, well fake ones that dosent change anything what so ever which is also idiotic.

Also forced anal, not that it matter much since everything is just bland.

Story is about putting bitches in jail and make them into sex slaves and even that feels bland since theres no corruption system or any gameplay, you just fuck them or get a blowjob and then wait for story to progress, so again you dont have any choices or fun since its just linear with 0 gameplay.

All you do is click the ! signs on map or items to progress whatever and every now and then theres a pointless fighting scene with is also very poorly made.

Its also a clicking maraton, not just the moving around part but when you need to sleep you can only do it from the book store....why i have 0 clue...even when your in the other world you have to go back to book store to then go back to the other world....

So yeah its yet another linear sandbox game with absolutly 0 freedom or choices, also a mindless fuckfest but even that is boring as shit.
It also has fake choices where it gives you 3 choices and 2 of them leads to game-over.....its truely the most idiotic thing to put in a game.

Also pretty sure theres forced NTR, one of your girls your forced to give to MCs boss, if theres a way to not do that i have no clue, it has a hole wierd choice setup where 2 choices leads to game-over one leads to 3 new choices that does that same and on, its also on a timer where you barely have time to read all 3 choices and that also leads to game-over, its the most stupid thing ive seen in a game truely and at the end shes with the boss giving him a blowjob.

The girls is pretty much just big tits and huge tits, theres no real diversity in builds which is a bit idiotic considering the art isent the standard type, but i guess devs must have the fetish and couldent care less for those that dont.

As for animations they are somewhat ok but there arent that many, even though very late game theres a few more but proberly 90% of the sex scenes arent animated, mostly its blowjobs and then the fucking is simple still images, so thats a failure as well.
And to make it worse they for some stupid reason thought it was a great idea to put mini games into the sex scenes to you cant enjoy them or barely even watch them or its game-over when you fail......i mean just no fuck that.

Music is pretty generic nothing special.

Clearly some players like it so it might be for you, for me though its a no thanks, just to many things i hate which mostly the forced shit, ive seen plenty of great sandbox game where theres choices and relationships and pregnancy with whoever you want and say no to those you dont and this one is clearly not one of those.

I figure its about time I got around to reviewing this game. I've been tracking it for a while and its grown to be one of my favorite adult games I've ever played.

Since this game is excellent I'll start with the bad and then delve a bit deeper into what this game does well. Over all this game does most things very well, especially for a sandbox game. The only major issues I had with it were the grind, actually playing this game as intended is a pain. It takes forever to get money, combat is a serious bore and time sink theres tons of needless RNG mechanics and overall I'm just not a huge fan. But I think the devs figured that out themselves since after a certain point the combat disappears and you have to do shooting gallery mini games instead, which are much less irritating.
Also I'm not a fan of the new NTR content. Thats a personal preference and I'm not going to rail against it as long as its avoidable or exclusive to a failure state, I just really dont want that sort of content to become this game's primary focus.

The game also has a few text issues like grammar errors, misspellings, doubled words and a couple of lines that clearly come from one character but are being credited to another.

And thats really all I have on the negatives, so moving to the positives.

*Warning - some plot spoilers ahead, I give explicit examples as to why I like the plot. If you havent played, please skip the next paragraph*

Writing wise I think this game is really good. Like surprisingly good for an adult game. It doesnt shy away from tough subjects, for example it gives you the option to let this dude die by overdose and I really thought it was going to be some fake out, false path or a game over but the game just rolled with it. It also takes a fairly measured an interesting take on non consensual relationships. Even fictional rape tends to be very controversial, but I think narratively its very interesting for character dynamics and I think it does a pretty good job of pushing these characters to their emotional limits without making it traumatizing to read. But even given the character's softened reactions to being extorted/imprisoned/raped, I really liked the fall out of all the horrible stuff the MC does. Especially since this isn't just some power trip game where the MC is playing 4d chess with time travel and he intuitively understands and can predict every move before it happens. MC losses quite a few times in fact and eventually has to rely on his own victims to save him from his former master, which narratively brilliant. You see the uneasy alliance trope all the time, but usually not in adult games and usually its with someone who is an enemy due to nationality or policy. Rarely is it done with someone who has so thoroughly tormented the opposing characters in such an intimate manner. In the current arc everyone is varying degrees of broken, they all need each other but no one can really trust each other. The guardians are shattered. Theyre forced to reconcile with the fact that not only did they lose, they've also been so focused on the evil of Meridian that they've failed to see the evils of their own world. Rick mind breaks half the team, their leader has lost it and fallen in love with the enemy and the remainder dont really have the will to fight any more, The only one left with any sort of spark is Taranee and shes got her own host of problems and is in her own way indebted to Rick. Even so the guardians are trying to hang together but theyre in this constant struggle with each other over the fact that one half of the team is completely under Rick's influence and are effectively openly dating Rick while the other half hates him but require his protection, assets and influence. On top of that they've they're still suffering the fallout and consequences of his attempts at corruption so even the characters who hate him are having to come to terms with the sudden loss of his more physical attention. Its the best form of drama, its multilayered, none of it is contrived, all of it is plot motivated and character based. Its so good it feels like it belongs somewhere more mainstream than a porn game.

Art wise, I'm hard pressed to think of an art style I like more. I'm always a sucker for anything that isn't AI, anime or prebuilt models, and even among the best of the western or custom art styles this has some of the best art I've seen around and they're still improving. Each update you can tell the artist is getting better and better. AND THEN THEY ANIMATE IT?! TAKE MY FUCKING MONEY!

Anyway yeah, I'm a big fan.

v0.25.1 Review

I played the game a few years ago and decided to try it again to check its progress. Here's what I found:

Visuals
By far, the best aspect of this game. The girls look AMAZING and the (only) two or three animations that you can find through the game are pretty decent.
However, while most of the characters remain untouched, or modified in favorable ways, there are some that lost their uniques traits.

Audio
The music are the exact generic tunes you've heard in every single Ren'Py game already (plus some random tunes that have literally nothing to do with the story or the lore), but, in this case, the timing and the situation in which every song plays it's really off.
Also, the sound effects are lame as fuck.
I'd recommend simply mute the whole thing and play with your own music in the background, that's the best thing you can do.

Story
If you are familiar with the W.I.T.C.H. universe, you'll see some good references here (obviously), plus some parodies to other media franchises that, while subtle and scarce, are a nice touch.
It's nice, kinda, but not something that would make W.I.T.C.H. fans cry tears of joy.
[SLIGHT SPOILERS START HERE] That said, the main plot is becoming the most powerful man and claim both Maridian AND the human world as yours, while also collaring every breathing female under the sun and turning them into sex dolls for you to use and abuse as you see fit. The problem here is that you are getting constantly overpowered and, your plans, thrown away by some random deus ex machina the dev keeps pulling out of who-knows-where. [SLIGHT SPOILERS END HERE] Essentially, the game plot doesn't even follow its own premise, nor its theme.

Gameplay
This is where everything goes to hell. The game, as a videogame, is terrible.
You are forced to spend literally days farming money and doing basically nothing, while little to none events occur, and when they do, they are extremely short and fast.
You'll spend actual hours and hours of your time just to reach a short scene, most likely without any sex (or with a single, extremely short intercourse), that would look like it will finally move the whole story forward... Except it won't, and everything will remain basically the same.
Other things, like Cornelia's sister and her story, were modified into something completely different that, while welcomed, also deprives the game of some unique interactions that were already pretty good.
On top of all this, and to make it worse, there are several Game Over through the game (like, way too much), and some of them after tens of hours into the game. Imagine you have only one save file, or that all your saves are either after the points of no returns or way too behind it. Yes, you are forced to do EVERYTHING again, which, as I stated previously, is not fun nor smooth.


Final words (A.K.A. TL;DR)
A game with a ton of potential, that will need A LOT of work before becoming something actually playable.

An absolutely outstanding work. I’ve always had a soft spot for truly well-written pieces, and this one stands out among the many books I’ve read or games I’ve played. I deeply admire the author’s character development—every character feels vivid and alive, each with their own distinctive way of speaking and acting. When these traits intertwine with the particular brand of corruption tailored for them, the result is even more flavorful.


The writing itself is also surprisingly entertaining at times, with flashes of dark humor that keep things fresh. Finally, the overall pacing feels smooth; while the beginning can seem a little dull before the characters fully open up, the story becomes incredibly engaging once it reaches the courtroom debates and everything that follows.

Additionally, within the main theme of corruption, it would have been even better if there had been a bit more BDSM content.

I don't care about the story at all and whether it's historically accurate or not but all drawings are amazing and all them witches are built heavenly. One of the best games on this site if not for the incredibly annoying point and click events the dev team loves to waste time on

I think I’m dropping this game. The writing feels inconsistent to me. When writing this kind of game, the characters should either hate you but still have to follow your orders, or you manipulate them into liking you. This constant state of limbo after so many scenes is just annoying. Cedric cares about them, then he doesn’t, then he does again. It’s never clear whether your actions will actually impact the story. Sometimes they break the fourth wall to tell you, sometimes they don’t. They warn you about NTR, but then you still get NTR’d without warning. The game overs are annoying too. Cornelia is in the dungeon, but also at school somehow. Cedric takes his time with most of them, but goes full rapist with her. So many odd choices. You get one scene with the goth girl, and then a ton of dialogue, only for her to disappear for the rest of the game… ok? The art is good though.

You really have to be nice to this game purely because of how damn good the art is. I wish there were another 10 2dcg games with art this good I could play. There's some bad spelling errors at the start and it should be less grindy, but by the time you get to the newer content the writing has gotten pretty good, the characters are interesting, and it's all topped off by that fantastic art.

Just great art. I don't pay that much attention to the story, but seems well written and the pacing it's sufficient to keep you playing, but just I said, the strongest aspect of this, is the art, I'm personally a big fan of this style.

Coming from a huge fan of W.I.T.C.H., this is a massive dumpster fire of an interpretation. Characters have been completely changed. Personality-wise, they aren't even the same characters. One character had even been retconned and replaced mid development. If you're at all familiar with the source material I beg you to stay away from this travesty.

What a game!
This game has many things on its favor, it has gorgeous models, wonderful milfs, engaging story, entertaining (though sometimes tricky) minigames that keeps us playing the game as well as a story that leads us to many outcomes. It also has some of the best optional NTR i've seen that any non fan of said fetish can easily avoid

Story is "meh" but what do you expect. The gameplay is nice and the rewards are satisfying. The artstyle is great, and the game overall is well worth a try.

Its not original at all, but I dont think that matters much. You know what you are getting, and thats more than good enough. Updates are frequent and there is plenty of lewd content.

Dropped probably half way so take my review with a grain. I really only liked two girls, with one of them having been disposed of for the story to continue. Story also feels lackluster, to get rid of other lovers/bfs all you really do is fight them in combat no real story to it just follow a guy into the park and now im gonna attack you. Another one you get introduced to a boyfriend who you then almost immediately fight and get rid. The mc isn't that great especially if you tend to self insert. The choices you make don't do anything of note other than a bit of new text (ex. Option A: You fight, Option B: You outsmart, bad example but good enough for a 6am review) it leads to the same thing just different text that starts the following story. The scenes are meh its all one position really blowjob here few quests later sex here. I tend to look for animated games too even if they aren't smooth im happy. These not so much I don't know why.

There are two main types of porn games I enjoy and recommend, ones with good story or ones that offer minimal story in exchange for good sex scenes. Very rarely do i find games that have both or have a good middle ground of the two. This to me has neither. It is just not my flavor sadly.

Gave up before finishing.
The main "hero" is a rather unsympathetic character (a turd, to put it bluntly). His actions aren't joy to watch, and he basically ruins the game. The plot is built around the actions of the hero, so it is not enjoyable as well.
The gameplay is... bearable - if the game has anything for you to play for.
The hot stuff is Okay. Quite average, but should do. Unfortunately, this component of the game was far from enough to tolerate the rest of it. As a result, I just started putting off playing the game again and again, and eventually just deleted it.

I love it, it has a decent story, exquisite animations and good development, so far I've already played all the content of this game like 3 times because I live deleting the renpy saves folder.

The only thing I didn't like so much is the minigames, some of them feel nothing more than filler to extend the duration and be careful to have bad luck in that the monsters that drop you certain ingredients to complete the missions appear to you, you could stay there for up to 30 minutes ;-;

This game commits the cardinal sin of ruining porn with mini games that make enjoying the porn impossible. It's only in a few scenes so far, but why it started popping up later in the game when it wasn't a problem early on is baffling. Additionally, the main character's sudden personality change makes the story even more nonsensical than it was to begin with.

Well what i can i tell about this game, its hilarious some time and very edgy and cringe other times xd, Still very fun game kinda grindy to complete but the cheats are an option so i can complain about that, Just had one complain and its WHY THERE ARE NO MORE SCENES WITH THE BIG TIDDY GOTH GIRL, fuck.
The story is great kinda interesting and fun toplay, The gameplay its just like a visual novel with me minigames so its fine, and the Desings and H contentn are great i wish it had more Cg animations and more sounds effects bcs it lacks a lot of it.
Still it has potential for improve for the better so for now its an 8,5/10
Good game Great wank (Sorry for my bad english)

Art style and quality is exceptional; however, gameplay, dialogue/translation leave a bit to be desired. There are mini-games which do not behave consistently with the instructions provided in the tutorial, as well as mini-games which are tedious and repetitive. Overall, a solid effort that requires a little more polish, but a lot of potential.

(Update 0.22) Most disappointing update yet. Just more teasing w Elyon and more sex with random characters. The content takes maybe 15 minutes to get through. As for the rest of the game, I would give it 5 stars up to the 0.19 update. Everything that has come after is lackluster and the art style isn't consistent.

Amazing game. Quite well-written characters and plot (for a porn game, of course). Excellent drawing, I would like to express special respect to the artists) Well, in general, quite regular content and updates)
