Ren'Py - Witch Hunter [v0.25 EX] [Lazy tarts]

The game itself is nice, but authors are slow as fuck. There was something like 15-17 unique scenes during the cource of of last two years, and half of it was just a simple non-hentai slice of life.
Also, too much time was simply wasted on rewriting Ellion's plot. The original where Cedric causes her foster parents to get in a car crash was okay as it was. Sadly, due to revrite few of her original sex scenes were deleted and can only be found in galleries on of the hentai sites where they post game rips. Ellion was also aged up in new sex scenes to the point of looking older than some of the milfs of the series. She used to look like an actual 18 y.o. teen back than.
There is also a HUGE problem with save compatability between versions.
You dont want to grind for 3-5 hours (even with cheats) just to unlock the new stuff every time it comes out, and due to picture. And if you just unlock gallety by mocking about with game code using Notepad++ you get no context for scenes, and fapping to them loses half the charm.
If it wasn't for the last problem, I would debate between good and exelent despite slow speed and content cuts, but as it is now - average.

Last update didn't have save problems, so uprading mark to good. Still needs way more content trough. And again, all new characters in sex scenes looks way aged. That filler character - yeah, she has a body of milf or at least late college student in that drawing style, despite being "18+ schoolgirl". I get that pathreon is a censor happy shit, but you can at least make her look smaller than Cerdic. Also, abduction option would have been nice.

Nope, the trend of making main cast closer and closer to gilfs continues, and tonns of time is being spend just to change old characters to age the up in any way possible, even if most of them are now looking older than main hero. The speed of updates became laughable, the progression of story that by all intends and purposes is about an evil villain molesting school girls(even if aged up) slowed down to snails pace, and now you have to share some of your slaves with your boss, so basically - an NTR element that wasnt in tags. Im downgrading this to two and most likely dropping the project, at least until its finished. Replaying the entire game each time author decides to put a new wrincle on Will or remove anything controvertial, or make minor changes to the interface just isnt worth it.

The art is VERY GOOD...but sadly, after a major change this is not a trainer anymore...i know it happened a few updates back, but now Elyon is just like all the other characters. You're not "slowly corrupting" her anymore, it's just BOOM let me fuck you. The idea behind corruption is the slowly (or fast, depends on game) PROGRESSION from kinda prude to slutty/eager, achieved in multiple step. The first versions of the game got it right, she gets convinced to show boobs to you for more money, then strips more...and so on. Kinda like Akabur's witch trainer Hermione, a progressive "do ut des". This was the case back then...now, Elyon is just like all the other characters: no step-to-step corruption, just plain coercion into instant blowjob/fuck or istant "you gave me a place to stay, thank you let me blow you".
It's a pity cause the art is one of the best this site has to offer...but the "gameplay" (if you can call it that) is just a number of clicks and grind needed to get the "leverage" used to coerce the girl to do you.
Not my genre, sorry, i preferred the earlier version. This could just be a comic/manga/doujin, there's not really gameplay aside from the grind.
Still giving 2 star because the art is amazing.

TL,DR : This is COERCION, NOT CORRUPTION (somebody else pointed that out too), there's NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT and the gameplay is quite linear.
The Art is amazing but isn't enough to call this a game.

This game is awesome. It does something that many corruption games doenst do: It knows you are playing a bad guy, it knows there is no way a good guy in the standar idealization of the word would do, and it shows you the consequences of your actions. The game develop the story from the bad guy perspective even better than some Rpgs on steam, im not kidding. If you are just here for the tiddies, you will have your share, and the art is beatifull. But if you are here for the phantasy, for a really good and really fucked up phantasy, with blackmail, abuse, slavery (actual slavery, not just the ''oh yes master more!'' kind) , and literal teenagers drove to suicide soo you can bone some witch ass, then you too, my mood kindred, have found your share.

I've written a long review for this which turned to be a series of points punctuated with BUTs. And then it ended with a downside that's really really important and I want to talk about it in detail, so I've edited the whole BUT-rant to be quite a bit shorter.

This is a "r34 parody game" —BUT— the source material is not very well-known and I dare say is even obscure —BUT— it doesn't matter too much as the story and your character's place in it is obvious (perpetually failing underling of BBEG who's given last chance after last chance), and the overall story is simple yet somewhat engaging and even has some branching done right —BUT— it's written in most horrible Engrish I've seen in a while —BUT— it's understandable enough to get what you need to do and tolerable if you read it internally with the thickest russian accent you can muster —BUT— forget about decently written sex scenes with this level of language mastery (more like lack thereof) —BUT— at least CGs are pretty nice —BUT— it takes a lot of time to reach them —BUT— the game doesn't feel extremely grindy (although it does have grind)...

BUT. And this is the crucial negative aspect that I don't feel the game offsets with anything positive. When you do reach main adult content you immediately wish you hadn't done it so quickly.

You see, there's a difference between gating sex behind slaying wild boars, grinding money and being an errand boy, and gating it behind girl's psychological resistance.

Naturally we want less of the former and more of the latter! (To a reasonable degree, of course). As it stands, this game has a lot of boar slaying and basically NONE of the psych game. To give an example, you capture some guy, enslave him, and throw him into another dimension. For reasons. Whatever. But then his pretty sister comes looking for him and accidentally falls into another dimension and you have no other choice than to imprison her there too. For reasons, whatever. But then the main character comes into her cell and demands her to strip naked or else he maims or kills her brother. Bam, she's naked. Next day, you get a choice sex/bj/handjob under the same conditions, pleasure or else. Then you let your disgusting underling buttfuck her as a reward (and the imprisoned girl once again has to agree or the very same else). And that's it as far as her, um, character development goes. Her attitude doesn't change one bit after all of this. She keeps her defiant attitude, but ultimately always agrees to do whatever you demand because your threats are just thermonuclear.

That's not corruption. That's coercion. Learn the fucking difference.

What a lot of people want and what "trainer" sub-genre implicitly promises is the process of bending and twisting a girl from prude to total slut. How you initially hook the girl can vary —and yes, it can be through coercion— but one crucial ingredient is that the final step can't be reached through threats alone. Instead your trainee has to come to love being a slut. This is where this game really fails in my opinion. You're not training anyone, you're just subjugating them through brute force and call it a day.

Oh, yeah, and my playthrough of v.9 had a character literally kill himself as a plot point. That... was a bit unexpected, huh.

Also, some comments indicate that in earlier versions the main story line was much much darker, and that kinda makes sense. Right now Cedrick throws the main girl softball after softball, while everyone else gets really harsh treatment. If the main plot were to revert to the darker version... it could make the game work, but you'll have to throw darker sex scenes as well. Otherwise it's a wasted opportunity; your character clearly lacks any scruples, but when it comes to sex he's awfully vanilla. And the girls are awfully resilient. PTSD? No such thing! You made your MC a deplorable sadist, okay, legit choice, but then the girls have to break down.

(That said I prefer a lighter path if it actually had corruption going on)

TL;DR: good art, horrific Engrish, poor story, and horrible characterization for a trainer game.

So, the Witch Hunter is a game based on the animated television series W.I.T.C.H.

It is obviously born from our everlasting, holy internet Rule# 34, it is a good take on? Respectful of the original material? (the animated series and the comics?) Is it even a good game worth playing?

Well before I give you my verdict, I must confess I am not a stranger to the W.I.T.C.H universe, in fact I LOVE THE COMICS and to me they are some of the best thing around, you should read them NOW!

But let’s not get off tracks, the art is not bad I even enjoy it at times (good job Lazy tarts Team!), the story seems to get its inspiration essentially from the tv show (I’ll get more to it later) and the gameplay or should I say the minigames… Well, I’m not going to spoil it but let’s say there is a way to make money by defending a store that to me fells very grindy and I am not really a fan of that. But I did enjoy the combat gameplay, also I which there would be more.



So, the story, we take on the mantle of Lord Cedrick a bad guy (there should be more games where we play the antagonist.) and unsurprisingly we are doing bad thing to the main characters. Why I am saying that? Because, if you watch the animated series it logical as he is portrayed only as a villain (which he is!). but for those who read the comics, Cedrick does show he is capable of redemption (somewhat.) and he is a little more than your typical predictable villain. On that aspect I was expecting some kind of moral choices; be able to act beyond our evil nature instead of simply go with the flow of evilness.

Well ladies and gentlemen, that choice simply does not exist! Instead we are going with the cliché of the villainous character. At times I really wish there was a choice, to illustrate my view, there is a girl that really seems to like Cedrick, why does he have to be such a big D to her? And why Can’t he not just pull the finger to Phobos? (with good reason if you read the game intro.)

I believe this game has a lot of non-explore potential, if it could simply propose a love route in parallel to a corruption route it would surely become one of the best games the is.

I would personally give it a 3 out of 5 for now, the story is more to its premise than anything and the team demonstrated they were ok to revamp, change some content. (the Elyon has been tone down to better suit its reader and I personally like this better like this!) I’ll wait and see what they are able to deliver.

I have my finger crossed for the future content. Come on Lazy tarts Team, give us a redemption/love route!!!!!

Review:
What draws the attention of this game is because of the arts that are good, but otherwise the game is terrible. Games like this you have to keep grinding or keep coming and going to do the tasks and receive the scenes. The sexual content is acceptable but with very little content and there are not many animations, there are some but nothing surprising.

So, why I did gave 1 star?
There is not much to say, this game would be more successful if the developer made a comic book instead of a game. But why do I say that? I may be wrong but during gameplay there are several places to go but half of those places are inactive or in development. The gameplay is a point-n-click that you have to come and go to do the tasks, in addition, there are mini-games that will not delay you much and it is necessary to at least use some money cheat because your time gameplay will increase if you don't. However it is quite annoying to play something for a few hours and see very little sexual content. So, anyway, I thought the gameplay bad, because of the grind and little content. To tell the truth, the game is not very interesting.

Please give me more.
This game is an absolute BOMB. Can't wait for further updates. The arts are sexy. Characters are hot. Porn is perfect. The story is simple and interesting at the same time. The gold farming process may sound a little tough, but it pays off anyway with a hot porn scene

Real nice art, pace not too grindy. But I really don't dig the writing which, in a corruption themed game, is kind of a major point. Idk Cedric is a smart dude in the show, and here he just sounds really dumb most of the time. Also a lot of typo errors, I guess english is not the creator main language. The fact that 90% of the dialogue on the sex scenes are just "..." is also a let down.

Edit: Ok, giving 2/5 because that blackmail with Hay Lin. She's sweet with the MC the whole time, felt like I NTR'd myself.

I was playing for about two hours and the game does not start badly but God bless him, how tedious it is, not that it is difficult since the rollback makes it easy but it is super tedious, the art is not bad, I think it is the positive point I see him, the story starts well but then it gets super boring

This game got a lot better with time and i really enjoy, i never watched the cartoon its based but the game get me interested in watch it.
The story was realy lack in first versions, but is really get a lot better lately. Really eager to see the next updates.

I personally find this kind of art good, but like the posts below say, development time takes awhile, and there is not THAT much to this game yet. I hope the game continues to be developed because it is a good story and art, but only time will tell.

Probably give it another 2-3 updates for it be worth a download. I couldn't possible tell you how long that wait may be though.

Story

In development. You can see the arcs as you play and infer where it is going, though its not all fleshed out yet. Since it's a cool world with cool characters --- it leaves you wanting it to be more fleshed out.

One path still leads to a dead end, needs to be changed though.

It would be nice to have the ability to have a non-scuzz romance, at least one, or to have more than one option to get the girls on your side. Although a lot of the scumminess had a tongue-in-cheek quality that is more humourous than dark.

H

The game could learn to take its time more in a few places, especially with one character, to avoid spoilers, let's just call her "Bear". The fact that suddenly you are just fucking her is very abrupt and unceremonious. Another related character who you date early in the game doesn't have much further development until you become enemies. There could be a lot more added in to the process towards the goals in which the game moves. It is currently at 0.71 but with regards to the presented scope of the game I would say it ought to be 0.4 with about 60% more game to be added.

Gameplay

It's not obvious that you have reached the dead-end I mentioned before.
There is a part in the game very early where you have to read a magazine which leads to negative consequences, where the player might wish to reload. But in fact you have to do it to progress the story.

Graphics

Colourful and fun, there's care taken with design an characterization, although sometimes the way they are illustrated could have been done more consistently, such as with Miranda. Mostly I prefer this style over (can't say the name due to rules) another game that is muc more popular.

If the few animations there were were increased, and varied, this would be a real winner.

The main girl has a few frontend glitches, where art has not yet been added for all outfits, so when you speak to her she defaults back to here original clothing. H-Artwork of here has also not been updated to reflect what you have currently set her to wear.

Originality

This game borrows a lot from other games, including text. It also borrows music from various sources, such as the 2nd main theme which is actually a song written by Mexican lounge-pop composer Esquivel. Somehow the game holds its own in spite of these things.

Dialog

There are plenty of spelling errors, incorrect choice of vocab, such as "enemy" instead of "opponent" when playing poker, and weird localization to stand out. Although it's not so bad that it totally pulls you out of the game.

Action

This game does have a combat system. It's very light and is just there for grinding. While not enjoyable in the least it is not actually as bad as some have made it out to be, even though the last update made it harder. Expect to savescum to make progress though in the short part of the game where you need to battle.

Future

The game has been under development for awhile, so I hope the dev pushes through to his original vision while listening to the fans and sponsors. This way he can move on to something greater and more successful with this one as a complete product under his belt.

the grind in this game makes it almost unbearable to finish as it is now, the combat is the worst I've ever seen in any game in fact why would you put it on the first place is beyond my comprehension and the "job" minigame is also made too hard is this even supposed to be a porn game? why developers keep making these mini games in PORN GAMES do they want ppl to hate it maybe? its not funny its not cool and gives your game bad reviews like this of people who genuinely hated it, 90% of this game is grind and the sex scenes are not worthy at all, dont waste your time there are better games out there with way less pain than this dark souls fan unbalanced combat grindy ass minigame chores game.

As is with everything I critique I will base everything on Art, Story, Sound, and GamePlay.

The art is on point which certainly raises the bar that most games won't climb to. If the developer used this same style or skill on a game involving Korra, it would certainly be the best of any games of the same title.

The story is certainly not lacking either. It's on point, doesn't linger, and progresses at a steady pace. Tackling subject matter that most games of the Hentai genre would normally avoid and does so brilliantly while not fetishizing it to an extreme.

The main character (Cedric) is not like most I am used to, you play as the villain and it really shows with this one's actions. The grammar may be lacking but for a game that is practically new, this can be forgiven as some words can get lost in translation with a Russian made fan game. Definitely a dark game with very dark moments to be sure and not afraid to push them a little more.

Sound quality is about on par with most games in the same category but makes an effort to make moments special and deliver, home on that promise. Game Play possesses a small learning curve as no tutorial is given on many of the game mechanics such as building relationships or even in battle. A game that is a (point and click adventure hentai) is certainly common but with multiple choices that can affect outcomes differently can make this game unique and better to enjoy.

In all, my score is 6.5/10. It's still fresh and growing. Possessing great potential to be one of the best H-Games out there. I look forward to future updates and build releases.

This game suffers from poor dialog throughout. Mostly it stems from the broken English which leaves you confused because you cant even understand what is going on during an interaction. It is also riddled with bugs that prevented me from progressing the main story line. The idea seems solid and the art is pretty good but the bugs and dialog really make it un-playable.

I heard this was based on a show, tbh, I have not heard of or watched the show at all. Anyways, on to the review!

Not much to go on really. For one, haven't watched the show so no idea what it's about, but I think I get the gist of it. The story is... beyond scrambled in this game though, to the point where unlocking content can take far longer than it needs to. No hate to Russians since they tend to make the best Ren'py based games, but if your primary language isn't English (which is what majority of the players speak), then you need some type of tracker. There are so many English mistakes, it's easy to tell it was Machine translated with no real effort put in.

Updates are... non-existent really. For making 6 times the minimum wage in Russia a month (2019 = 11,280 rubles / he makes = 68658.31 rubles), this guy barely releases quality updates. He can quite literally, quit work and solely focus on this if he wanted to. Really, I wouldn't even mind seeing sketches at this point. Seriously, take a look at his Patreon. He's nowhere near even remotely close to finishing this game, and he's already debating his next project. Real developers debate that when the game is at about 80% completion. This guy, however, milks the money as much as possible with terrible updates.

The game, idea, and art are all perfect. The developer, however, needs to be replaced. Never been so glad that f95zone existed or I'd never play half of these games.

Great plot, besides extremely well made arts. A lot of close-to-rape situations, and you also shall kill parents of your worker, which I find quiet fun.

And do not forget, now there is 3 plot lines - Elyon, Tarany and Will's mother, but soon it will be lines with all characters of original.

Game has potential, not gonna lie. It has very nice art and so far, it's very intriguing, despite not being able to progress that much into the story.
The only issue I've got with this game is that the Blowjob and Handjob text are completely ripped off of Akabur's Witch Trainer similar scenes. Even the part where someone walks in on the guy receiving fellatio is the same. She keeps doing it while someone is talking to the protagonist. Same speeches as well.
