I doubt it. skipping straight to the action shows a massive misunderstanding of bdsm. it's like thinking that having vanilla sex in latex boots was bdsm. it's taking the visual while discarding the actual internals of why people are interested in spanking.
people who are into spanking won't get what they look for, and spanking-only won't give tourists what they look for. who's left?
maybe some people like spanking just for for the raw visceral physicality of it, for how "fleshy" it is? i don't think it's the same as bdsm, necessarily, i.e. being in a master-slave relationship. backstory just gives it some justification, and possibly adds humiliation to the mix, but it'll also work with the spanker completely depersonalized (in fact, spanking machine is one of the spanking staple fantasies).
i can add an ai-generated backstory as an intro, will it help? i tried generating mini-backstories with grok, and they were quite decent in doing their job (other ais are to prudish for this subject).
would it also help to have ludic elements in the process itself, i.e. having to time the strokes, vary strength strategically to optimize some meters? they can have diegetic meaning ofc, i.e. you'd have make the subject realize their mistakes, feel sorry for bad behavior, etc
also, seems like japan is the #1 target audience by a huge margin, so i wonder what the preferences there are. most projects do have some gameplay, but maybe that's just because the simulation part wasn't pulling its weight.
