Hi,

I know this is an adult site but, would you financially support a game with no sexual content?

Why and why not?

Not with the kind of production quality prevalent on this site, and not nearly for as much money as the very niche ero-projects I do support. Basically, I'd buy Early Access if the game looks really special. No monthly subscription. Unless we're talking about some "no sexual content" bimbofication / corruption game, or other such niche that is rare and much more rarely done well.

For a game with no sexual content most probably not.

To be honest I barely game at all right now when it comes to "normal" games, I even have a few that I've bought recently but I haven't got the motivation to crack them open and give them a shot.

I can raise the motivation to play a game with sexual content though.

Basically I'd rather bust one out over a school girl rather than blow someone's head of with a high powered rifle, I'm sure that I'll tap into simulated violence again at some point but right now I have other priorities.

A story driven visual novel with no sexual content just doesn't cut it, might as well listen to an audiobook like Sir Nigel by Arthur Conan Doyle instead, I need a bit more right now than a lesbian wholesome kiss on the cheek and a promise to be lovingly together forever.

I meant as subscription. Would you spend $5 each month for no sexual game?
I wouldn't spend a dollar every month even if I really liked the game. This is stupidity and it seems to me that this distribution model has discredited itself completely at the moment. I might think about the “pay per update” model, but paying an amateur every month for him to live his life - no, thank you.

Absolutely, I played WoW for years

Now if your question is about indie games of the type released her, hell no would I pay 5 bucks a month......well, unless it had super regular updates, but even then, 5 bucks a month is pushing it for no sex. You can 30 bucks on steam and get well over the amount of gameplay you'd get from a game here over six months in any number of excellent single player games.

Not many here would, but there is definitely a market for non-lewd VN's. Mostly through Itch and Steam sells. Although those tend to be higher quality than the typical F95zone game.

So, if the game is good, somebody will spend money on it. How much money? It depends on a lot of factors, mostly luck.

1. Are you want to create adult theme focused game? If yes, no sexual content something like Doom with no guns and enemies.
2. You can't really know how much money you can make but keep in mind that adult game market is not really big, and "non sexual content" tag will not help either.

No. Non-porn developers have waaayyy more ways to finance, publish and market their games. My money goes almost exclusively to porn creators who have much limited venues for financial support.

You're asking people on a site where the vast majority come here to NOT pay a subscription if they would subscribe for $5 per month.

There is a market for nearly anything and, as such, jamdan has the best answer:

If you are looking at making a living at this - know that half of the adult content creators on Patreon bring in less than $100 USD per month even after 2 years. It's a coin flip to earn enough to pay the electricity bill. 10% earn more than $2,500 USD per month at the same point or longer.

Good luck.

I do it all the time. Some of the best games are non-sexual. I prefer the ones with options to include and not include.

I would never subscribe any game because i dont even know if i next week can eat every day.
And i would never pay for an unfinished game, too many devs abandon them and i could never stop being pissed about it if i wasted money on it + i absolutely refuse to support the continuous existence of patreon.

Would you consider a Kickstarter then?
You only pay once and get your money back, if the funding wasn't successful.

Never heard of it, would need to do some research if it can be trusted. If yes i would consider it depending on the price.
