XIX 0.2
Will start with: Good disclaimer. Concise and to the point.
Menu is a good mix of cheesy and endearing.
Very close to a solid 4. But I don't think it quite gets there.
Story: Pretty standard "new fish in town"... or however that saying goes. Heavily railroaded. But that can be a good thing. You find out factoids as you go along. Though, it's very "Why are you here?". There is also some slight fluff inconsistencies. (Like, both Raven and Jinx are well versed in martial arts. But the game claims they aren't.)
The story can also clash with itself. Like: Certain events become really weird if you do them in a certain order. Like, one event is going shopping. And the guy has no clue where to do that. Despite one of the friendship events is going shopping... (And some are just weird in general, since we are supposed to be "average human dude".)
Characters do have a bit of a weird IC and OOC mix. Terra being the most notable example. Her physique is notably altered, and similar with her personality. Most of the other characters feel quite on point. But, they do have some odd moment at times. And many of them feel a bit shoehorned. Usually "for the adult rating". (Like excessive swearing)
Some parts of the story are quite neat though. Like, the "growing up" part I found pretty good. As said: Some parts feel like they were written without knowing other parts. (Like: You find out Starfire isn't human. Then later, you are shocked to learn that Tamaranians aren't human?) Plus, fluff wise: BB has gotten his first kiss. The story is inconsistent on what "happened" in the show.
If I'd say one thing, it's that the game has a kinda bad flow to it. Like: It starts slow, focuses solely on friendship. Which is fine. But then it throws in random "intense" sex scenes. Then goes back to a slough. Has very sudden up and downs in mood and theme. Then goes to hookers and blow. Then tries to be serious. Then talks about anal fucking and pregnancy. Then goes back to talking about being your best self... It's kinda all over the place. I feel it's trying to be too many genres at once. The character IC and fluff inconsistency is just... weird.
Like: Raven is used to nudity, yet has issues with it in game. Starfire is super horny, yet oddly celibate in game ... And Blackfire is tamaranian, yet has an issue with nudity for some reason in game. (Despite casually talking about anal sex?) A lot of the swears feel out of place in game. I have no issues with characters swearing. But it does feel shoehorned in many places to showcase "bad" characters. Blackfire is also very inconsistent in power levels. It gives it a bit of a "half-researched" feel.
Originality: I do find it a bit "eh" that it doesn't use their iconic communicator. Replacing it with a generic cellphone takes away some charm. It does seem to use that cliche "guy transported into another world" story. But: Not necessarily bad.
PC is kinda Gary Stu. But so far haven't come across as a negative. But will see if I come across anything. That said: Design of the PC is very fine for a self-insert. Nothing that sticks out. But also not obnoxious. I do find it interesting how the PC isn't a useless slut like most porn game PC's. If that keeps up, this could be interesting. As the PC would actually have something to "offer" the girls.
Renders: I do overall like the style. It's quite charming. Cyborg looks a bit weird in it... And not sure why they stayed on model with everyone except Terra. But all and all it does look nice. I do like the use of the "chibi titans" in the environment. Neat callout to the joke segments of the show. And saves time on assets.
Though, it is a bit derp that the game jumps between 3 different styles. Map design, dialogue design and close up design. Feels a bit weird to have two separate graphic designs for the characters portraits. And another one for their close ups.
Backgrounds do have a good amount of references in them. Good effort on that part. You can tell its a passion project. The chibis are really solid. Fun to find them. They really help set the tone to a more lighthearted thing. Not a big fan of demon Raven's eye change however. And so far pussy wise: It's okay. But, would need to pick up a bit in order to make the girls stand out and make them unique. As it's a bit below the penis quality atm. Though, pretty good proportions.
Sound: The base music is a bit "in your face", on the louder side. But, overall it is good. Doesn't get too repetitive. And: You can adjust it. So, no real issue. It could start a bit lower though. Music does really pick up after the menu. Music is overall a VERY solid pick.
Playability: First impressions: Base text speed is very slow. But again: Can be adjusted. I do think it should start faster however. Map layout is pretty good. Though, some areas it is hard to spot the locations you can click on. But all and all: UI design is very solid. The "new day transition" noise is a bit "eh" though.
The whole "running around" in this game isn't too bad. (It gets a bit annoying near the end) You have slightly better hints on this one. So I never felt lost. It was easy to figure out how many times you had to grind the same event. Plus: You are meant to befriend everyone. So, that game vital QoL upgrades are locked behind friendship events, isn't really a hassle. Though, can be hard to know when you are "done" with a certain event.
I do think you should be able to use the "Psychic Empathy" on the guys too. Just to know how far along you are friendship wise. That said, the "You made the right choice" noise is very helpful. Even if most choices seem very obvious. Though, picking the "wrong" option doesn't seem to really offer anything... outside of letting you know in advance in terms of who you want to romance. I can say: Once you hit the v2 content, you really lack stuff to do at the same time. Turning it into a "skip days" game. Money is also earned very slowly. But almost at a "barely close enough" pace.
Performance: Solid. Never had any issues. (At worst, some graphics are slow with fading in/out)
Bugs: You have a few times where you can have characters at two locations at once. (Like, after Terra's trek, she is at the gym and the beach at the same time.) One semi-bug is that if you don't do BB's friendship event first, he vanishes for large chunks of the game. I think the calendar over the bed might be bugged however. As it shows a picture with cut-off text on some days. Not sure if a bug, but not all events make time pass.
After the talk with BB about a girlfriend, the dialogue screen does not go away. And leaves the rest of the UI in a constant blur.
There is a bug when attempting to visit Miko after seeing Robin in the evidence room. This occurs during the second time of day.
Not sure if a bug, but there's a sketch of Blackfire's head in her room after the car factory.
Animation: Very basic, but helps give it a more "lively" appearance.
Voice acting: It's there. Generic porn noises. So, slightly more fitting than generic hentai noises.
Grammar: Slightly stilted in some areas. But, overall does a good job of getting the TT's lingo mixed into the dialogue. Though there are some grammatical errors here and there. (Ex: "She just like that" or "You all set my guy!") Along with just weirdly worded sentences. So, could do with some spellchecking. But, nothing too major. You still get what is trying to get across. (Also: Blackfire would be specist, not racist.) And, while more a dialogue thing: This game does miss most of Jinx's speech pattern. As, in the show: She was pretty vocal on the "girl power" or what to call it. (Ie: "You fight like a boy!".) But here she uses female pronouns as an insult. As does most of the girls.
Amount of content: Seems decent so far for the version. All of it is fleshed out. Some surprisingly more than expected. Does seem like it can have a decent amount of lewd variants too. Though, that said: The porn content is VERY sparse and basically takes hours to get too. There would need to be some more in-between to speed that up. The game is doing a tad bit much teasing for a porn game. Granted: It does have a bigger focus on romance. But: It somewhat early game throws in a notable porn scene. And then... radio silence for hours.
Next time is basically a huge focus on BB. (And a bit oddly censored? Though, I could see why.) That said: For a game focused on "love", BB's scene is kinda... weird. As, it sorta portrays him as selfish and a slut. Which does feel a bit mean towards him. Also really throwing Kid Flash under the buss. That said: The cameos are fun. Currently: I can't say I know where the game is headed... As it doesn't seem entirely sure what it wants to be.
Closing remarks:
Overall: I like the game. I do feel it needs polish. But it's a very upbeat game. I don't think all elements of it really fits. It's doing the thing many recent games and shows are doing. By trying to be "mature". Like: It has hookers and blow, and a lot of swearing. But not in an endearing way. TT does mix comedy and seriousness very well. XIX doesn't manage that too well.
It does the comedy and serious pretty okay. And I will say: It does a very good job of portraying BB as a "desperate, horny mid-teen". But... he is also the ONLY character. And then we have "lol, BDSM!" and "lol, drunk hookers!". It just doesn't flow very well... And then as said: Characters start screaming about murder, sex and swearing.
It does feel misplaced. Especially as it happens nowhere else. It makes it feel like the game hits "Incognito mode" and does a crossover segment. Imo: The game could tone down some of the aspects. Mainly the swearing and "lol, hookers". And then add in some actual hormones to at least two of the girls. Having every titan except BB be a celibate nun is just... weird. As said: I can get the slowburn romance it goes for. But: Then it has to be a bit more consistent.
It being "slow to start" is a bit of an issue. Especially how it paces out the sexual content. Going from full frontal BDSM sex, to "you can get this covered boob" or "swimsuit!" gives it a very odd pace as said. Plus: On the BB content. In an earlier scene, it makes a big deal about a girl having a huge bush. But then it's just... gone.
Anyhow, wrapping up: I think early game could go with some more comedic sexual things with the girls. Like how it treats BB. (Walking in on him "doing it") Like: Finding a ex: Womanizer (clit sucker) in Terra's room and asking what it is. And her going flustered, claiming it's a rebreather. Or leaning more into Starfire. Like being able to find soaked panties. Or asking what the smell is, and her casually mentioning she just masturbated/[Tamaranian word] herself with sticky fingers.
