So, I'm a little conflicted on this one. On one hand, the renders are fantastic. I can't recall ever seeing these models being used in another game—a real breath of fresh air—but, the game has little else going for it.
The game currently features three stories. None of them are particularly long, and only one of them is finished(?) as of writing this review. They're a collection of short stories revolving around a man named "Zeno", one you can kind of name in one story but still remain as "Zeno".
I'm not sure what I was expecting going into this, but the dialogue is.. definitely not what I thought it would be. The english itself is fine, and maybe it's just me, but I felt VERY uncomfortable in the shoes of Zeno as I played the three seperate stories.
Not only is he a complete creep, but his internal thoughts also come across as borderline pedophilic in one of the stories as he goes on and on about how the youth and innocence of this one arguably teenage girl turn him on. I understand these stories are extreme sexual fantasies, but I couldn't find myself enjoying most of the stories when given no other choice than to be a creep, or a slightly nicer creep.
Aside from this, the other two stories were fairly run of the mill. The horror aspect was nice but not very fleshed out in the third, and the majority of the other stories have branching routes where half the choices are unavailable. Strange way of approaching a choose your adventure, but I understand why a developer might want to approach it this way.
If Zeno wasn't such a creep and the stories were a little more fleshed out, I may have rated this slightly higher; but for now, I'mma have to give it a three and move on to something else.
Update (v0292): The renders are still awesome. The game is aesthetically pleasing, but.. you still have to be a creep. There's no option here. You are "Zenos", unable to control your urges while somehow still "sounding" like you'll have a choice, but ultimately cornholing you into the creepiest decisions.
And hey, I respect that. If you intend to have the player sit in the role of a master creep, you're still doing an amazing job, and I don't mean that in a negative way. It isn't necessarily for me, I'd like a little more "choice" in it, personally.
You give us the decision to do things like stay quiet, or to straight up tell a women shes hot in a weird way—but the times in between, like when you force us to peek and/or say weird things, those are the parts I wish I had a little more control in. It's jarring when I can withhold a creepy comment one minute, but then I see a slew of them the next.
Still, good job keeping this updated and looking as good as it does. Bumped up to a four-star on that alone.
