(update 0.7)
By all means one of the best VNs out there, in terms of visual presentation, audio engineering, worldbuilding, and writing. The story and characters are compelling, and make me long for a world where virtual reality gets this good. It reminds me of a book I read as a kid, The Web: 2027, which takes place in a similar future. I would not be shocked at all if Caribdis has read it.
I only have one minor qualm, which is that the protagonist feels a little bit empty as a character. This is usually fine for porn VNs, but Eternal is much more than just a porn VN, and I think it does a bit of disservice to the story, and results in some dissonance with the other characters, who are very well fleshed out. I won't go into too much detail for spoiler reasons, but I personally think I would like to see the protagonist struggle a bit with his humanity, his feelings, and the fact that he's sleeping with a half dozen women and has not asked any of them if they are okay with it. Now, for an asterisk: I think it's possible this complaint will be unneeded in the future - particularly with the way update 0.7 ended. Regardless, this small quibble did not at all hinder my enjoyment of the story in the moment, and I am eager for the next update.
