Well I was very skeptical when Sony claimed to be the publisher for the game. And I stayed skeptical till the demo was leaked early and I saw some footage of it with showing off jiggle physics and also the playable skin suite. That gave me hope. Then, a few weeks later, the demo was offically released and all these things were still in it, unchanged. At that point Sony gained quite some trust back. I still was a bit skeptical, but not as much as I was weeks before. Then, a few days before release, they announced and confirmed that the game will come out uncensored in all countries, including Japan. Well, another very good sign and a step in the right direction. Well, until release ofc, where they blew up all the faith and trust they have build over the last weeks and months. They have cut the bawls off their native JP devs for years that do fanservice games to the point the Senran Kagura dev just stopped making games, and you guys thought they wouldn't to a Korean dev? The only games that get through without censorship are western games which they turn a blind eye to. You can have actual sex in those and get through just fine.
So as you can see, it was quite a rollercoaster, but before release they were continuously going in the right direction (which they normally wouldn't do in the first place) that they were able to gain back some trust and created a good amount of hope in all of us, that finally things will change for the better.
Now, with the release and the censorship that came with it, I have no trust anymore. And the fact that they can change things afterwards whenever they want is really sad. I mean that this game even exists and still has a good amont of fan service in it, it still a good things. But in the end, all this drama is not very convincing going into the future. This will probably be the last console I did buy, who knows. Shift Up on the other hand needs to be supported. If they make enough money (Nikke their mobile game is already very successful), they probably won't need Sony as a publisher anymore. And then they can bring it out on their own and release it on PC, which would be very nice as well.
Oh and in terms of Senran Kagura, yeah that was also a very fun game. As well as Onechanbara Z2 Chaos, especially the Banana Split Edition (maybe you have seen it ). Great times.
After that it pretty much went downhill fast. And since Sony has moved the HQ to the US, it's pretty much sealed that those good times are over.
Stellar Blade was/is the only game nowadays that can hold a candle those titles. Even though, the fan service is quite tame in comparison to the other two game franchises I mentioned above. Just imagine a Banana Split Edition for Stellar Blade. Holy hell, the internet would burn in no time. Gamers would get heart attacks over so much sex appeal (especially in those graphics) and the woke agenda would explode into pieces because they can't handle the insanity. I would pay to see that happen
