I decided to replay this classic, but I think I messed up. I'm at the mission with Aunt Diane where I'm supposed to buy pesticides for her garden. But unfortunately I had bought them previously and I can't buy them again as long as I have them in my inventory. How do I overcome this problem? Do I have to replay it from the beginning?

Thanks

There will be no more releases for Summertime Saga.

(...)

Now consider this date and remember that he sold the TU to paypigs as something that'll take "3-4 months to complete".

(2) Across these 3 years the number of paypigs dropped when he nearly stopped simulating the project is alive but once he started putting on the theatre of wallpapers, word salads, empty words, etc. the imbeciles came right back. Today he has MORE supporters than he did when the TU vaporware started.

(...) He can break his promises not once or twice over but ~10 times over and the paypigs won't budge. They will cling to hope like a drunk to his bottle so there is no end in sight to how much can be milked out of them. DC literally made more money by NOT delivering anything of value over the last 3 years than he did by delivering the whole of SS' stories in the years before that. So paypigs provide a STRONG financial incentive (we're literally talking millions of $) for DC to continue doing what he's doing and continue delivering what they actually paid for (i.e. hope).

At the same time, there are continuously rising risks in ever delivering the TU or any other future SS releases.

(5) The expectations his paypigs now nurture for the TU & future releases are now so intense they're practically bombs. There is no way in Hell these expectations can be met. If the TU is delivered as promised (i.e. no new story, just a behind-the-scenes update) the disappointment will detonate. Even with Rhonda's story baked in it will still be an immense disappointment because the paypigs will be faced with the reality of what their money actually bought. There was no serious work on the engine or anything DC promised. The paypigs will just be faced with a big turd they paid dearly for.

(...)

(...) ensures there will be a LOT of unhappy paypigs wanting some revenge while (6) ensures there's a litany of reasons why SS can be banned under the latest rules.

Instead of running the risk of releasing, DC is presented every day with the alternative:
Keep doing what you're doing.
Predictably cash in at least one more million $ in the next 1-2 years by doing nearly nothing.
Then vanish with nothing bad attached to your real name.

This is why you will never see another SS release. Either the risks or the incentive to get money with nearly no work would've been enough to ensure the project has no real future. When you combine the two there is no chance in Hell.

In fact, the best strategy DC can take is to get himself banned when the money well runs dry. Then he can say "Patreon did it", whine a bit about how he was "SO CLOSE" and then vanish.

Is it actually okay in this forum to refer to paying Patreons as “paypigs”?
They are even compared to alcoholics who can't get off the bottle.
Personally, I have never supported THIS game, but others and I wouldn't like to read
someone calling me "paypig" just because I made the decision to support a developer or their game.
Ultimately, it is a personal decision whether and how someone spends their money.

And to call the update "vaporware" is not entirely correct in my opinion,
that would be it if there were only promises without proof of progress,
but DC releases new images, even streams him painting them.
There are also progress indicators on the website.

(25 Changes in the last 24 hours - sounds like they're making some progress)

An incitement to stop all payments would result in the game being
developed EVEN more slowly or even being discontinued.

There are a few sentences in manneychin's post that remind me
of statements like those made by conspiracy theorists. :geek:

Forgot there was a review section. I click on it and think
"wow there's a fair bit of 5 star ratings here despite the shitshow in the thread"
"hmmm...I wonder if...."
Click on profile....
Yeah y'all ain't slick :KEK:
If you think the devs care enough about this site to bother making false reviews, you're dead wrong. Any positive reviews left are from people who sincerely like the game. The game itself is still held in fairly high regard. The shit show in the thread is because this mother fucker hasn't had a major update for like 3 years and when it finally does, it won't add any substantial new content.

Realistically all payments would not stop purely because of the amount of people who have just forgotten about their sub. Now its been shown alot of times that if a devs subs drop a lot during milking they usually release something faster to recover not what you suggest.
Yes some devs stop development when their subs drop too low but this game is not in any danger of that given its current numbers.

No, it's not. I can speculate that he mentioned "paypigs" as a way of calling "supporter forever" or "I'm giving my money to this top 1 adult game developer on Patreon who is clearly milking his patrons and hoping to see an update sooner" person.
Which is their choice. Don't know why people care so much about what other people do with their money.
I think it's important to criticise the "simping" mentality because it's damaging the ecosystem, it's just unhealthy in general. It's not the same as telling someone to do something or not to do something; it's just like sharing knowledge. We just shouldn't be rude about it, like calling someone a "paypig" for example. I believe that anyone can stop "simping", it's not a disease. It's important to buy and support things that deserve it and not to buy "marketing shit".
Some info here and here (dead game, not recommended).

'Milking' is not the answer—being lazy with coding is.
DC, to my knowledge btw, is not one of the coders.

He's waiting for the next presidential election to figure out how he's going to finish this game.
Just go by school shootings instead, then you don't have to way four years.

And just to stay on-topic..: "I liek tis game,When's is next updade?!?"

"In the computer industry, vaporware (or vapourware) is a product, typically computer hardware or software, that is announced to the general public but is late, never actually manufactured, or officially cancelled."

He used the term correctly. Again vaporware refers to it's announced date vs actual release. A published progress bar with changes on it (real or fictional) means nothing. I doubt anyone would argue this update isn't late. Thus the usage of vaporware is right.

If he ever releases the patch, it'd be surfaced vaporware. However, with the reported coder leaving and new people joining months ago, perhaps it's more interesting to say they were in developmental hell/limbo and now they're in production hell. Which still makes this vaporware.
