I think you skipped an update. They kissed for the first time in the last one. I can understand why he put up with Charlotte not trusting him at the start cause of trama he has over failing the other Emma and with her having a daughter with the same name. But after saving her daughter while Charlotte's trauma is understandable for having doubts for trusting him after seeing him kill someone, the MC acts like it's no big deal after everything they gone through from what I can recall.

if this was real life id be okay with being friendzoned , since to me being there for someone you care about matters more than trying to start a romance or have sex. Sure maybe that approach might stop you from ever starting a romance , but I rather be there for someone I care about first and foremost. Cause after everything that has happened would be hard not to care for someone like Charlotte for me personally. Well yeah anyone would quit probably the first week unless they needed the money. But this is assuming you don't quit you know. Even me and im a super passive person would probably quit tho a passive person like me wouldn't be suited to be a bodyguard either. But we are assuming quitting isn't an option and you go through the motions like in the story. I wont deny im a bit of simp sometimes not like Joshy . In this case I cant agree that just being there for someone you end up caring about is being a simp to me that's called being a good human being and friend. Well yeah if it's a stranger you barley know I agree but assuming you know went through the motions the MC did and I feel after so long if I was the MC id be friends first and foremost. To me be being a friend for someone you care about like the MC does is about being there for them first and taking care of them. And its hard to establish a proper friendship with someone who employs you because they are never equal and Charlotte lets him know this over and over again. It lacks appreciation, trust, loyality and mutual (!) understanding and care for each other to consider them being friends.
Its even the opposite, when in doubt, Charlotte usually takes a position which paints the mc in a bad light which is the last thing you should do when it comes to your friends.
I feel like in their case a romance seems easier to establish than being friends and imo the only thing which somewhat excuses the mc's simpy behavior is the fact the he's in love with her and thinks charlotte is in love with him too, he just needs to make her feel safe to realize it.
I still really like charlotte but this is only the case because we know a lot of charlottes thoughts and backstory which the mc doesnt in detail.

Well, i would not mind some action but the game is very slow burn, and so far it is mostly about story. I mean the only thing the MC got so far is a kiss from her. So i think we are still far from them having sex. At this point i would be happy if she gets naked in front of him, or lets him touch her intimately. the dev did say awhile I back the order we would get lewd scenes I think if I recall correctly Emma was either last or 2nd last

How actually sad and miserable sounds what you writed. Its not "very slow burn" its just story and characters in its core is overhyped pure cringe and trash and to answer why, I already in details writed above. "About story" game need to have actually logical, detailed and consistent story to be entartaining and if this was selled as book without smut, I assure you that it would fail epically and noone would read it. Im not bookworm myself, but even in compare to simply written books by some not talented authors about STALKER, this story doesnt stand even close in terms of objective writing quality. Im not even sure that Hillside have writing equal to average soap operas for middleaged women. But in actual state of !A!VN and with renders of pretty girls, this game at least became great simp simulator
