Edit: Apparantly u only get like 2 cgs per enemy and the others can be bought in the gallery. Whats the point when the content is only in the gallery?

Basically a roguelike. You try and get far as you can. Knowledge of items and such carries over.

Making monster girls faint gives you dream shards which help unlock the gallery (although you can unlock the gallery by triggering the event as well). Not sure what to make of this yet really. Chastity Belt, if you find one, can simplify the lewd monsters as they just don't know what to do anymore. It's kinda fun so far.

!!! The uploader's current Online link is an older version. The itch.io version has things like a glossary so you can actually know what the hell you're doing !!!

Going to 2nd this notion. You have CGs in the game you could be using, but instead make everything in-game pretty much text based and the player can only see the lewd stuff in the menu gallery. I got to the graveyard area where the zombies more or less insta-kill you and lost interest in spending hours grinding out a few JPGs. The current gameplay just isn't that fun; I don't think the concept is bad but it needs a lot of work.

Also you really need to let the player hold the movement keys instead of making the player tap the arrow keys 6000 times a run.

Hey everyone! I'm the developer of this game. I planned to upload it here myself when it's in more presentable state, but averonAveron beat me to it xD. I just randomly happened to come across this page. Thanks everyone who tried the game and reviewed / commented!

Even though it's an old thread, I thought maybe I should reply to some things xD.

When you unlock an image in the gallery, it starts appearing in the game as well! There are some caveats though:
  • Illustration is only shown if it matches the action you perform (i.e. if an illustration has the hero pounding the catgirl from behind, it won't be shown when you're fondling her tits). Looking at the list of illustrations now, I realize that variety of situations isn't that great - it's almost always usual sex, so unless you spam "Penetrate > Pussy", you won't see a lot of illustrations; my bad really.
  • Some illustrations have additional conditions to be shown (for instance, all the images where the girls is on top are only shown when the girl initiates sex, not the hero).
  • Only two illustrations per girl are shown (selected randomly from among applicable / unlocked). Maybe I should remove this limitation, I'll think about this.
TL;DR: valid critique, I'll see how I can improve this.

Well that's fair xD. Recently I updated the formula used for getting hero's fluids, so you're not screwed so badly if you roll 1 for Endurance. I also increased the amount of dream shards you get in the end of the run, so you don't have to grind that much. I also tweaked the balance a lot to make it easier.

Also you really need to let the player hold the movement keys instead of making the player tap the arrow keys 6000 times a run.
In the current version of the game you can do this!

I absolutely do not. All the artwork in the game is original, and was created specifically for this game by a person who is listed in the credits, not by this artist you mentioned.

Crestrial Thanks for the kind words in your review, means a lot!

1) I'm getting carpal tunnel over here rapidly tapping the movement keys, especially when the maze level pops up. This could be remedied by allowing the holding down of a key to continuously move in one direction.
You're absolutely correct, that was bad xD. I made holding the key possible in the end!

2) Despite being a roguelike that's been in-development for 2 years, there is a distinct lack of variety. There's like 11 monster girls (not counting encounters) and some aren't worth engaging with (like the angel). After figuring them out, being successful in a run becomes simple so long as you don't have low endurance.
Totally valid, I admit. I initially aimed to have 25 species of girls (5 per biome), planned unique abilities for each one... but it turned out to be completely unfeasible. Both in terms of time (it's been 4 years even, but it's a side project I'm working on after daily job; it will take another 5 to fully implement initially intended scope) and money (5 illustrations per girl, so +70 in total, that's not cheap, especially when you pay extra for commercial rights xD). Maybe in the future I will eventually add them, gradually, or at least some of them. But for now I focused more on encounters (there are already 10 of them by the way!), so currently, despite being a roguelike, this game does not provide a lot of replayability, and is more like "unlock all the stuff in 10 runs and forget about it".

~Wasn't made in Ren'Py or RPGM.

And now for some unhelpful advice; the best erotic games have erotic gameplay. What this would look like in a rogue-like is hard to say, mostly because it would be up to what you want as well as what your architecture allows for.
Obviously the sex-battle mechanics fit this very literally, but I think a simple (if not necessarily "easy") way to stretch this across say -- for example -- the Labyrinth would be to unlock a "companion" mechanic. Perhaps as a result of unlocking all of a creature's potential scenes, you can "persuade" one. This would allow reuse of the extant scenes in a new context, change the dynamics of encounters, and open up options to keep the general "excitement floor" high when the player is bringing a walking, talking(okay maybe not talking) gallery around. Of course, downsides abound include programming that whole-ass mechanic as well as incorporating it into the rogue-like structure without just blowing out the sides on the whole thing.

This is just one potential solution to what honestly might be a non-problem in the long run.

Either way, cool project. I like the unique layout, and even while being an anti-fan of text-based porn games I still appreciate the flair some of the word choices have.

The advice is, in fact, quite helpful! Making the gameplay erotic is something that I wish I learned about earlier. When I first entered the world of adult games, pretty much every title followed one of two paths: "sex on defeat" or "sex as a reward". I did not like the former, because it creates conflicting play patterns, so I adopted the latter. Then I tried "Karryn's Prison" and learned that you don't have to divide gameplay and sex, your whole gameplay can be sex, and my mind was blown xD. But at that point, unfortunately, it was already kind of too late to try and incorporate something like that into my game, cause, as many examples in the industry show, changing direction mid-development is rarely successful.

I did, however, try to make the basic gameplay "sexier" by introducing more erotic descriptions for actions, more images, outfits, items etc. - and I intend to keep expanding on those. But trying to introduce some completely new mechanics might do more harm than good, I think. Mostly because it will increase the scope / prolong development time. And I wish to avoid that, because another quality of good erotic games is that they are completed xD. So, while it hurts me to realize that I'm not utilizing some opportunities to make the game better, I feel that instead of endlessly aiming for "perfect" sometimes I just have to settle for "good enough".

This project is my first, and I made a lot of mistakes with it, but I also learned a lot, in no small part thanks to advices like yours, so thanks again!

Ohh, it actually IS bugged! Just tried on a clean save and reproduced the issue. Sorry, I missed this in testing. And thanks for reporting it.

Here's a build with the fix:

Itch version is updated too, and I'll figure out what to do with the links in original post in the meanwhile.

Edit: updated the links in the post as well, and the online demo too.

Wow, I'm impressed someone has actually played this game long enough to unlock all the stuff xD. Jokes aside, thanks for sharing this! I thought people might want something like this, but haven't gotten to producing 100% save file myself.

A couple of notes though:
  • if you replace the whole config file, you'll have things like settings, resources, survey answers etc. replaced too; if you only want to unlock the gallery, consider updating only the content of net-shag:storage-open-gallery-entries field inside the JSON;
  • while I try to keep the save files backwards compatible, it is not guaranteed to work, so if you're trying this with a version higher than 0.4.53, make sure to create a backup of your config file before replacing it, in order to not end up with a broken game state.
Also, a question: would you say that unlocking unbuyable images is too tedious? Would it be helpful if I added some hints on the conditions to open them? I thought it should be rather fast to unlock them all if you just try interacting with the girls in various ways, but perhaps some entries aren't quite trivial.
