Well you see the game isn’t actually free... Nothing is free not even this site where you download “free games”.
We could have gone with a drm option and lock out all the people that aren’t Patrons. Like literally lock the whole game trough an API that checks your current Pledge to Inceton games on Patreon. And if you are not a Patron the game locks itself. We could have done that but we didn’t. Instead if you pirate the game you watch a few ads and thats it. And if you dont want to watch the ads and be a dick just enter the code that’s available here on this site and you are done. If 2$ or watching a few ads is to much for you JUST DONT PLAY THE GAME. And stop bitching like 5 year olds.
I'm not going to comment on the ads (I don't have an opinion), but I will comment on your DRM option.

It's a Ren'Py game. It will be cracked in 5 minutes, unless you protect the rpas. Then it will take 10 minutes for someone to figure out the key and modify rpatool to unpack them.

Chill, man. When someone whines about the ads, just respond "if you don't like them turn them off". Don't engage the haters. It's not like there's a lot of thought of thought behind "ads will ruin your game because people won't play!"

@IncetonGames So I've been running through the remaining options after finishing most of the content, and the hint for Ellie says "I need more experience | Experience 10/5". I'm using a save from episode 3, though I haven't seen people mentioning save issues. I'm honestly not even sure which event is giving me the experience... maybe a message saying "I've gained sexual experience!" would be helpful.

This is an extremely aggressive response to a normal question. As a dev you should be ashamed how you are treating potential Patrons. Why should anyone choose to give you money if this is how you act towards everyone. You are correct, the option we have is to just not play the game, which is exactly what I'll be doing now. Good luck with the only AD driven game on f95.

Uhh... seriously? It wasn't a question or even a normal response. Why don't you read that shit post again?

That's an interesting way to kill your game. Well it is a free market.
That's a toxic as fuck response, and basically more or less said "go fuck yourself, dev"...

How do you think the dev feels here? You have people bitching about an ad that pops up every 7 minutes and can be dismissed in 5 seconds. You're time and effort creating something means so little to me that I'd rather shit on you than watch a 5 second ad every 7 minutes to help a game I'm stealing... The code was even posted here, yet people are still bitching. It's seriously hilarious how pathetic some of these people are.

Every update makes me feel like I'm missing something whenever I play it. Like last update, I spent 25 minutes talking to the Mom at night thinking something would happen

Maybe take a clue from literally every other game on here about how to get people interested enough to subscribe to a Pateron. I can only remember 1 single other game that went the route of forced DRM and that was shit on far worse than this dev is getting currently. People are allowed to give criticism to decisions, and this was a pretty big one that people dont like.

I like the game as I have said before. However, I have serous reservation of 'pop-up-ads' which can (in principle) easily be transformed into a hack. ... should we really trust the devs not to hack the users? It would be prudent not to. So I politely suggest that you stick with the Patron model which seems to be paying you more than enough each month.

You have 4 options:
Become a 2$ patron
Watch the ads
Enter the code that was shared here
Don’t play the game

If you think you will be hacked you won’t be in our games if you download from Patreon. I mean you could be hacked here since you are downloading pirated software. And anyone who posts the game here could add malware to the game.

l honestly can't get into this game. The CG's are nice and all, but after I got to the open world bit I just couldn't bring myself to continue onward.

Hi WaerM and Inceton, millions of companies use pop-up adds to generate a revenue stream, and I don't have any problem with their approach in principle (one can always use add-blockers - but then we still see hundreds each day). The approach being used here does not utilise the usual pop-up add business model. Inceton appear to be coercing users to 'subscribe to their Parton account' or else you will be forced to have unwanted pop-up ads. l would like to avoid such pop-up adds that could be transformed into hacks. I see no penetrating reason why I should trust my security to such a system. Of course we can be hacked anyway, but the point is that the Inceton code makes hacking my computer much more possible. I don't believe that Incetons approach of basically 'pay up' or 'go away' stated above is conducive to cordial relations with their users, particularly since the codes that were 'provided' do not stop the ads. I have ceased my input to this discussion and will not respond further.

Well I used the code in the OP and I didn't see any adds :)

I dont care about the ads what I would like to see is the gallery and slut code because I would like to see extra scenes if watching ads helps support the game I'm fine with that since I cant support it another way but I just wish that some of the other content wasnt locked

Game development is hard - anyone who ever looked at game telemetry were piracy is easy, will see that 99%+ of the people playing and enjoying games won't pay. It's incredibly frustrating.

Ads, DRM, loot boxes, micro-transactions... all are techniques to tap that market with varying degrees of success. As the adult market matures, I can see all of those and more being tried out.

I use this board to discover content and support games I like. As such, I'm probably part of the audience you'd like to convert. I play them in a no-network sandbox system - so DRM, ad, mining, etc. strategies won't work.

A few thoughts:
- Calling people dicks for skipping ads may not be the best long term PR strategy.
- You might want to reintroduce a 1$ tier - 2$/m USD is steep in many parts outside the US. (Note: your Patreon's overview page still has a "Short Games - 1$ patron" reference).
- The criteria I use to support a creator: content I like, timely delivery and communication style.

I wish you luck, and hope you find a way to sustain the development of your games. Google's empire was built on ad revenue, so perhaps... this is the way forward.

@IncetonGames

Jessica's computer locks forever if you run out of guesses. You go out and talk to the sister at the couch she lets you use the computer everyday I check and it still says locked for 24 hours.

Found where the bug is. After you lock the computer then go down and talk to the sister on the couch she'll let you use the computer when you talk to the sister while she's at the kitchen table she'll go up stairs and you'll see her come down he goes and sits at the computer and later the day rewinds or resets but computer will remain locked. Had to go to sleep manually to get it to become unlocked again.
