When a character whose actions are not only questionable but also morally and legally dubious manages to come across as likable, you can be almost certain that you are dealing with a psychopath. Characters like Daniel, who are magnetic, charming, and emotionally cold, possess such refined social skills that they completely conceal their manipulative nature. It is this kind of charisma that is confusing. An example that may seem like a somewhat crude comparison, or one that shouldn't even be plausible given the difference between the two works, but which illustrates the point well, is Heisenberg from Breaking Bad. The guy is, bluntly, a bastard. However, both within his own world and among viewers, there are those who justify, admire, or even excuse him. The ability of a character like Daniel to generate sympathy or liking, even though he is a psychopath, does not mean that he is a bad character; in fact, it is usually quite the opposite. In fiction, psychopaths function as distorted mirrors of humanity, reflecting desires, impulses, and ambitions that most people repress but that we all recognize. Their lack of empathy, flexible morals, and extreme self-control make them narratively rich figures because they break the rules of similar stories, that is, usually in stories where the mother and son are involved, it is most common, if not 90% of the time, the son is shown as someone weak or clumsy who is just a closet pervert, where normally the mother has to take the initiative for most things and be the one in a position of power in the relationship, such as deciding whether to have sex with other characters and what is and is not allowed. Daniel is almost the opposite of that trope; not only is he a confident guy who knows his abilities, but he is also mocking about most things. He enjoys teasing his father just to reaffirm his position of power. He avoids using his mother's friends to get a reaction from her and pretends to be clumsy or shy in front of others, while behind the scenes he has another side to him that gets annoyed when interrupted while he is trying to hook up with Lana. Daniel even tends to have derogatory thoughts about others, He is friendly toward others as long as they are not a problem or a nuisance. Although he avoids acknowledging the beauty of other women such as Sofia or Kiara, he cannot really show genuine interest before turning his eyes back to his mother. Daniel has a strong Oedipus complex that makes him believe that his duty is to satisfy and love his mother, and in his eyes, he is the only one who can give her what she needs. He doesn't think he's doing anything wrong to Lana because he knows she enjoys it. So what harm is he really doing if he's just giving his love to his mother to make her happy? Although twisted and dark in his eyes, it is still love in his mind, which makes him believe that it is okay. after all, women like Sofia, who has a similar profile to Lana, do not attract his attention or interest to the same degree as Lana, since he is not looking for the pleasure of stealing someone's wife or girlfriend. If that were the case, he would have already done so with Sofia when he had the opportunity. Daniel's thinking and pleasure are skewed by his Oedipus complex, which makes him think that what he is doing is right. A psychopath is not interesting just because he is cruel, but because he thinks differently. He is not guided by emotions, but by logic, pleasure, and power, and Daniel also gets those two things by being with Lana. Does the fact that Daniel is a psychopath make him a bad character or something bad for the story? No. In fact, narratively, quite the opposite is true: his lack of empathy allows us to explore what happens when moral filters are removed. What would someone do without guilt, fear, or remorse? These types of characters push the boundaries of the story and make the protagonist more interesting and unique. Daniel is a very interesting character because of everything behind him, not only his psychopathy, but also his egocentricity and Oedipus complex, since a character does not need to have all the characteristics of clinical psychopathy to be considered a “psychopath” in fiction (or even in real psychology). In fact, in narrative and in real life, psychopathy is understood more as a spectrum of traits than as a whole. This means that Daniel can have several of these disorders at the same time, which ultimately redefines him as a rather unique MC.

If Daniel is a psychopath... And that's not a bad thing.

Basically, it says that Daniel can and should be classified as a psychopath. It's not a bad thing, especially considering that some users don't like that term. That is, there are several fictional characters that can be classified as such, and they aren't bad characters for that reason. On the contrary, most of the time, they're the most complex due to all their layers. Examples include Patrick Bateman, Walter White, Dexter Morgan, Alex DeLarge. And a long list of others. There's also a brief mention that a character doesn't need to have all the clinical characteristics of psychopathy. It's enough for them to have some characteristic to be classified as such.

And I quite agree. There's nothing wrong with a character being a psychopath. It doesn't make them simpler, just more complex. It doesn't mean they have to be poorly constructed or written; on the contrary, they need to be worked on even more.

In short, is Daniel a psychopath? Yes. Is there anything wrong with him or does it affect the character in any way? No, quite the opposite.

It's also quite funny how some users keep repeating that Daniel is a psychopath, when practically the vast majority of characters in these comics are not right in the head or precisely have their things too. Aaron not only abused his mother, but is also in love with his cousin. Not to mention his erratic behavior, the powerful Uncle Peter, who has quite a few widows on this forum, manipulated and abused his niece, according to the updates. He's also a snooper who likes to watch couples fuck, not to mention that in his independent comic he forces Lynda to have sex. Liam is a pretty normal character, after all, he only fucks his mother and aunt, that is, something that most ordinary people do after a day of work. Alexa is another character who is a little gem, since she not only fucks her nephew, but also records videos of her nephew and his mother to sell and masturbate without their consent. Even though some people might not remember it, Alexa snuck into Liam's room while he was sleeping to fuck him. And so on and so forth for the vast majority of the characters. Most of these characters are abusive, incestuous, or disgustingly perverted. But, for some strange reason, no one here is full of hype with every new update. Not because they all have a mental illness, but because they represent an absolute lack of empathy and moral boundaries.
