I have mentioned this several time in several threads. Animations are overrated. The benefit almost never pays back the cost. Almost everything you can do with animations you can get the same result with simple images.

Even Oceanlab, probably one of the best in terms of visual quality in the site, takes just so much time because for any scene that you would need 5-10 frames if they are still images, you suddenly need a few hundred for what is a few seconds of animations.

A real waste of resources (time, money, effort and whatever you want) in my opinion. That is why I would rather people stop asking for animations. It just slows so much the overall production for something seriously not needed. And that is if the animation looks good. If it doesn't it is just a total waste.

Note: No choices changed but there was a LOT of re-coding done in 0.6.1, so starting a new save is advised, your old one MIGHT work. But this will be the first question I ask "did you start a new save after 0.6.1 update?"

Bad animations ruin scenes. Months of build up to get a scene you end up skipping because it gives you motion sickness with how janky it is.

I have mentioned this several time in several threads. Animations are overrated. The benefit almost never pays back the cost. Almost everything you can do with animations you can get the same result with simple images.

I have never agreed with the two of you more than I do right now. Animations are over-requested and rarely, if ever, improve the game. There is nothing that a poorly animated scene has over a well rendered sex scene. As I've repeatedly said if someone needs animation, or sound, to fap to then they should go to a well-known porn site and get to jacking or jilling.

If a developer tells a good enough story and has beautiful art the animations are just a waste of time. These games don't have the budget (in time or money) to spend on creating animations, a lot of developers don't know how to create them, and the delay that implementing them causes just makes everyone frustrated.

To mention something to the game, although MC sometimes squirms too much. I prefer him to (by some) the desired alpha male, the master of all creation that everyone must obey.

There are always exceptions to every rule.

Sadly for every City of Broken Dreamers there are 50 abominations of games development that should never be seen by a human being, ever.

Philly has some incredible looking scenes in his game but those scenes take months to put together and he takes great pride in what he does.

There are also other games on here with buttery smooth animations that look amazing.

Those are very few and far between though.

That is why I put everything in terms of benefit and cost. If you are just looking at the benefit, with no regards to the cost, animations are less of a problem.

I am waiting till CoBD is finished to play it so I don't know about it. But Where it all began, for example, looks amazing. Nobody is complaining about the benefits. The problem is the costs. WIAB has, reportedly, 33 chapters. It is taking around 6 months to release each chapter (currently chapter 6). While not everything is animation related, most of Ocean's reports suggest that that is the current bottleneck.

I'd rather say to my players that I might add them if they get any better but they take a long time and at the moment it's not worth it. I would refuse to put out shit knowing how bad it is. If I can't enjoy a scene how would I expect others to?

I know we're all different but some of these devs expect to make money from their work and if they expect to make money then I expect them to have standards and I don't consider "utter shit" to be a money worthy standard.

I was trying to be diplomatic about it but I can't disagree with anything you said lol.

Devs being honest about their limitations should only create good will towards their project. I understand there is a lot of pressure to deliver but sometimes it is baffling how that pressure can lead to even the most self aware, transparent creators putting out inferior quality content. I think most people would be understanding, and more appreciative of the work, if they were being told, "I'm only going to give you my best effort, and if something isn't up to snuff, I'm leaving it out." That type of honesty would go a long way, at least with me.

I wouldn't say that they are outdated. Visual Novels (most of the games in this site fall under that banner) are supposed to be played as if you were reading a book, but with a more "interactive" approach so you can inmerse better in that particular story. That's why I don't mind if the game has animations or not, but if you're including them, better be sure that they are good.

Personally I think it's really good. It doesn't have a great deal of sex but it's setting it up nicely with the 3 girls here and the shopkeepers daughter.

Granted some scenes are more in my favour due to preferring girl on girl stuff, there is some of that.

I think some flaws in this game that would be seen in other games are overlooked to some degree by people because I think they really want to see him eventually have sex with the fake daughters and they like how doll like they look. Games with dads banging the daughters or sons banging the moms and sisters get a very large leeway it seems when people talk about them or how they end up feeling about it, overall.

The writing is still not where it should be in my opinion, everything always seems slightly off. This Lilith has some unusual power to be overly aggressive and just gets away with it and even when Becca stands up to her, the guy/MC who is at the end of most of her abuse is nearly begging for her to stop. So much so they had to have the conversation twice. This is the same Lilith who basically accuses the MC constantly of being a creeper and would do things to women, while when they get back to the house after swimming she is upstairs groping the sister. The conversations and their outcomes border on the bizarre so far. Plot Armour at times is heavy. Lilith psycho ways might be toned down as she seems to be mellowing a bit towards the end. Maybe.

The oldest Daughter can even tell the MC is submissive and tells him so, it is why also no one really listens to him. I do see that this game has a lot of fetish traits some will be into, therefore they don't really care about the writing or how dense the MC comes off as, they see the end goal and want to get there. An MC can be normal with emotional range, he does not have to be dominant to be normal and respond normally to information, this current state is not normal, this is the opposite of normal. Currently it is like he is constantly sedated and on drugs. He answers shocking revelations matter of factly and like they are an everyday occurrence.

I'm loving this game, the game is very captivating, and the sexual content is not too appealing. I like appealing sexual content, but I love a story of incest that develops slowly. (Please Dev-San, make it possible for Frank to fuck Lilith)
