Although I can understand your opinion. lockhear makes fan art (as well as game devs make games), thus it is in their freedom of decision if they want to involve politics or any other things into their work or not. It is in our freedom of decision to support the dev or any other creator if he does that.

Well, I can't say that this doesn't have anythint to do with politics. It is clear that it has an influence. It doesn't irritate me that much and it is a lot better than the "idiot crowd" on this forum with their repetitive screams like "update, walkthrough, NTR bad, NTR good, .....".

Honestly, as long as it's not flags or outrights political statements/scenes - I would say it is fine and falls under artistic license. Otherwise we will have to restrict the use of blue and yellow colours and this is dumb (cause then we will have to also restrict red, white and then it becomes a self-feeding cycle).
I suggest to pretend that Luna and Gracie just like Sweden very much.
