Yes, although I think for Naomi being a ship's captain equates to a motherly position of her crew. She didn't happen to be a captain who also was motherly; in her mind they are the same thing in essence. They're her "gyals", her adoptive daughters basically. So the crew having Astrid as the replacement means the girls don't need mommy anymore because they have a new one (captain). I'm pretty sure being captain isn't the same for Astrid, which like you said, is why it's so rough for Naomi.I think what's really going to mess up Naomi isn't that she's lost the captaincy of her ship, but that her girls don't need her anymore, that they're alright without her. I think its that realisation that's either going to make or break her and is going to be the crux of her character development.
Exactly. This is one of the main reasons I adore her character! She's definitely rough around the edges and a bit too taken with her rum (although to be fair, what pirate wasn't?). But in addition to being gorgeous she has a huge heart, which is what I love the most about her, even if it comes with a big temper sometimes.Naomi is also the mother of the group, the nurturer and the protector. We might not see it, but its all there. She's very protective of Caitlin. She's the one trying to get Yona back on her feet. She even fought with Lyriel like a mother with a teenaged daughter.
When the MC creampies Naomi after sex and she mentions becoming knocked up, if you have him answer that he wouldn't mind she replies with "I would!" at the end of the scene. Given that, I do wonder if this might end up being a path to pregnancy for her — losing her adoptive "gyals", she eventually replaces them with actual sons/daughters later. Here's hoping, in any case.
Probably this will be a problem of Naomi alone. Rae is constantly traveling, many might not even notice her missing much; Cait seems to enjoy the studying here, if and when she comes back, she should have no problem catching up with others; Lyriel and Yono are already exiles without anything to do back in their worlds.
In any case, the very concept of time is a bit different in the house. When ether walk from the house at night, they always arrive other place at the night of the local time. This is a big problem when you think about time zone.
Yes, that's mostly true.I think part of the problem is that Naomi is very much the socially outgoing person in the cast. Sure, Rae is the diplomat, but she's not the kind of person who can get a tavern laughing uproariously with a bawdy story that ends with something like "And thats when we bought the statue a prostitute!"
....And more importantly, she was wholly dedicated to getting back to her crew.
