It will come out eventually but it probably won't come out before the summer.Man it sucks that this update is taking so long... Been following this game since it came out but kinda seems hopeless at this stage.
You misunderstood me, twice. It's not that I'm feisty. And you're the one who brought up the idea - so you should be the one bringing an example to the table to show of its feasibility. Also, it's been brought up hundreds of times in as many game threads on here, including this one. Never once has a successful story come from it.
Thinking through it logically, it also makes no sense - If someone can't pay the bills doing something, they aren't going to continue doing that thing - or if they are, it will be with much less effort and time involved because they'll need a different job to pay the bills. Leeching rarely (if ever) worked in medicine and it doesn't work in economics or the labor market. Do employees work better on less pay? Nope. Do kids get better education when school funding is pulled? Nope. Do construction projects get done quicker when contracts are cut? Nope.
No timeline. Eventually. Could (most likely will be) be years. You can find a mod in OP which will do it for you in the mean time.
Summer 2026 at the earliest. If we are lucky, might require an additional 2 or 3 years beyond that.It will come out eventually but it probably won't come out before the summer.
Other games get the abandoned tag for less if the dev goes radio silent for 3 months which is not the case here. If the dev doesn't release an actual game update for 18 months then he gets the abandoned tag. In this case if he doesn't release the tech update before the end of April the game will be tagged as abandoned. I highly doubt that he will be able to release it before that. Best case scenario we get the update some time in the summer and even that doesn't seem very realistic.Other games got the "Abandoned" label for less... It's more than a year now from the last update (15 months now...).
And once the game is marked as abandoned on F95Zone, how does that affect Dark Cookie ? Is it just so that all of you asking for it can gloat about it?Summer 2026 at the earliest. If we are lucky, might require an additional 2 or 3 years beyond that.
Other than maybe keeping people that are new to the forum from trying the game, it probably won't affect DC at all.And once the game is marked as abandoned on F95Zone, how does that affect Dark Cookie ? Is it just so that all of you asking for it can gloat about it?
I'm sure the very thought keeps him awake at night.Other than maybe keeping people that are new to the forum from trying the game, it probably won't affect DC at all.
On the lifestream one can see he really is working on the contents. Maybe DC can publish a new pack it is called 'pretech 20.17' then.Other games get the abandoned tag for less if the dev goes radio silent for 3 months which is not the case here. There are still a bunch of characters that need to be worked on after the tech updade so he won't move on to the next game for a few more years.I haven't been following the last 2-3 years of no serious updates post-story conclusion.
However, apparently there's significant development time being committed to updating Erik and that art...
Who asked for that?
Seriously, please wrap up the tech update, and move on to the next game.
Yea people think the abandoned tag is this magical thing that will somehow make him release the update faster. He doesn't care about this forum at all. It has been over a year without any update and he is still making a shitton of money, the abandoned tag will not make a difference because the people that are supporting him also don't care about this forum or the people complaining here.I'm sure the very thought keeps him awake at night.
there was also that game by vigor, a Russian developer I think, which was based on real photos of real actors; abandoned due to lack of support.Simbrodev and breeding season both kind of allowed themselves to milk on the way out - the income started a steep decline and they just kind of let it trickle out without contributing. I think the later kind of ponied up and closed it when they realized they couldn't go forward anymore (drama/long story).
I honestly don't know what system could work in this scenario - I want to reward indie artists, but I also want to keep them producing. Personally I think a better way to handle this type of thing would to not allow reoccurring donations, forcing people to keep intentionally donating (I know this is very impractical). I also know that it would impact Patreon/etc's money flow so that's never going to happen. On the other hands the kickstarter model hasn't proven any more effective (22cans/Godus comes to mind).
As the codebase expands, updating it gets more tedious - and after a while enthusiasm wanes. I doubt Dark cookie is out there twirling his mustach, laughing at the patriouns without returning any code - but he has had kids, the code is getting bigger, and I am sure his motiviation to timely deliver new code has waned sigificantly. TBH if I were him, and had read 1/10th of the comments on this thread whining about it, I would feel unappreciated, and my motivation would stink too - regardless of the income.
Feel free to review #10 below in the 98th posting of my FAQ within this thread in the past 2 years, where each of the 98 address what the Tech Update is and has started including links to the monthly status reports when they began at the end of May last year. I also highly recommend #1.Ok seriously what's going on? wtf is this tech update and why it's so important? I never had any clue as to why is this such a big deal, bigger drawings? more space? WHAT IS THE TECH please can someone explain?
Well thats simple the tech update is the perfect cover up,for milking.Ok seriously what's going on? wtf is this tech update and why it's so important? I never had any clue as to why is this such a big deal, bigger drawings? more space? WHAT IS THE TECH please can someone explain?
He said that he wanted to create content for the tech update itself and for future updates instead. I personally think that's probably the right choice, as more pre-tech updates will hardly make anybody happy by now - though they'd probably help his earnings. The tech update just has to go so they can finally move on to something more productive, that's in everybody's interest. I mean, it has been way over two years...On the lifestream one can see he really is working on the contents. Maybe DC can publish a new pack it is called 'pretech 20.17' then.
What update? lmaodang cheaking out the update date is heartbreaking.
