The Cross Days project was born because last year in part there was the release of " Sisters: Last Day of Summer " in English and with it the topic of a "fully animated visual novel" which some people associated with other examples and that one being mainly the whole Days series so I went "oh right, that reminds me they never released Cross Days in English... would it be too hard to provide an English script translation for it? "
The answer is yeah for the (will call it FilmEngine since that is what one of their system scripts is called) particular FilmEngine version that is running Cross Days is total legit dogshit, like the Engine version of the English Releases are running on are somewhat more Stable by comparison, the English release version usually if you dont spam the skip button in short burst, it would usually not crash the whole game but the Cross Days release version if you so much as look it wrong it crashes basically, so while I took some breaks from torture myself with the hacking of Shuffle/Lucifen engine, I worked on creating some sort of "New Engine" (though is more like framework but it doesn't sounds as cool unless you are that tech pedantic) originally with the idea for those that had their own copies of any of the Days series games and run a rather improved engine.... until I also had to see 2 issues, 1 is that the original video files resolutions are rather low by today standards and unless I gimp the new engine to that resolution, it may stretch what is already at times at a few times here and there pixelated video, but also the file format they used (WMV9 / Windows Media Video ) is kind of a dogshit format too that actually was at best lagging hard on my newer engine (on a fucking NVME mind you) and at worst almost crashing the whole thing.... so that may be one of main the reason when you skip so repeatedly on the engine that it just makes it crash.
So what was the fix to those 2? well I guess both making it H264/MP4 and Upscaling the videos and here are 2 comparison for that:

Currently Im releasing what I am calling the "XDays-Player" which its planned to work in the previous School and Shiny Days too perhaps, beware though the Player part of its name is quite literal at the moment, its as minimum viable product as fuck at the atm, it plays back the whole "Chapter 1: Crossover" scripts without any route/branching logic so far, Im releasing it mostly to gauge interest in the project (specially regarding the Upscaling of it and such) and I should keep working on it when I can, the scripts arent yet fully edited and such, specially the mouth flaps, you will see what I am talking about if you try it out.

I will be updating/releasing the edited scripts and if needed updates to the Player over:

PS:
Yeah Im fully aware that 0verflow announced the School Days Remake a few months ago.... that came *literally* as soon as I got gravely sick with sciatica so another reason why some progress has been acutely slow.
