Thank you for the insight. To be honest, the only reason I'm playing this game is because the developer said the story is based on real experience in Iran. A porn game set in an otherwise pretty conservative country if I may say. Otherwise, I'm not too keen on RPGM or a slow burn game. How believable is the rest of the story to you? A rural girl travelling straight to the University of Tehran without first arranging her accommodation? A family accepting a stranger to live in their flat? A swinger party? The Iranian girls I saw in the UK mostly don't wear hijab.
Well then good thing that quency77 made a Ren'Py port for us. I don't know why the dev decided to use RPGM. If you're not going to use an engine's features to the fullest, why not make the game with engines that are more straightforward to use.
I believe, she is a city girl but comes from a much smaller city than the capital, which is Tehran, and her naivety is mainly due to living a sheltered life and being a stranger to the hectic nature of Tehran. The dev doesn't give the whole picture about her circumstances and how she got to be admitted to this prestigious university but something that maybe would help understand the situation is that there is a national entrance exam namely "Concour" (A French word). Based on applicants' scores and ranking, they may gain entry through two routes: self-paid or government-funded (for comparison, normally, half of a year's entree are self-paid and the other half are government-funded). Those that are government-funded, in a normal situation, will have guaranteed access to dorms. But self-paid need to ask for access or seek someplace to stay beforehand if no empty room in on-site dorms are available.
The case is different with single boys and girls. There is much more distrust against single boys than it is towards the girls, be it either living with someone else or trying to rent a flat. But Iranian are very friendly people and if they sense that you can be trusted, they will open their doors to you. In this case though, the father tried to object but we can see that he changed his mind after seeing her (Dirty old man
), and the mom is dead due to cancer ... so yeah, this situation is completely believable for me.Sure, complete with different types of drugs, alcohol, and wild activities. But these illegal parties are scorned and frowned upon even by some of the more open-minded people.
Well, as I said earlier, it's good enough for me and it's evident that the dev had close exposure, living in Iran. The ideology of older generation vs younger ones, the paradoxical expectation of society vs peers, and unpreparedness that sheltering youths by parents and family brings (which is rooted to some degree in the culture of Iranian) are real concepts in Iran. Different personages, especially for side characters, that the dev has made resemble real people I have interacted with. You need to ground fiction in some degree of reality which the dev has done as you can see but it's still required to create imaginary plot devices to make a story fun and engaging to follow. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this, especially if the dev decides to clean that grammar

Yo thanks for confirming exactly all the stuff that I thought made it pretty believable to me, coming from a perspective of someone that lives in Québec, Canada haha. I always strive to be a very open minded person and with the year we are in, the youth and the small amount of the Muslim culture I knew, I was under the impression that a large majority of that whole scenario was indeed very believable to me. That is mostly the context. Based on appearances, dialogues, and the car driven by the dad, I think that she comes from a very simple family that is conservative, and her parents, possibly don't have a clue of how universities work differently than high schools.

To add to this, Iran is different from many other muslim countries as prior to the Iranian Revolution (when the religious fanatics took over) in 1979 it was extremely westernized (see photo below for common dress then). So, many people in Iran grew up in a liberal society and ressent the current regime. Also, while I don't believe that this game reflects a "true story," I have had many iranian friends tell me there is an underground party scene there, not entirely unlike that depicted in the game. Also, just generally, mandatory hijabs is a weird issue, as no where in the Quran does it indicate that women have to where them. So, while many women continue to wear hijabs after leaving muslim countries, many do not, and in my experience, I don't think I've ever met an iranian woman who has wore their hijab when given the choice.
If you check just a few posts higher, there is the hero already haha. And I did test it out (full "naughty" playthrough) and it plays wonderfully.
