The following review is based off my personal experience with playing this Game/Visual Novel... I try to be as brutally honest and detailed as I can, and these are my own opinions and thoughts, from one or more play throughs... The version this review is based on is v0.01...
Although this visual novel/game has a unique and creative plot/story concept, it has many flaws...
The visuals of some characters look alright, while others look extremely bizarre and fake... Such as Sara's sister, she looks like a plastic surgeon went overboard... And the dwarf doesn't look real, more like a fantasy mutant... Don't even get me started on the Sheriff, as she is dressed half old west, half modern dominatrix, which is so totally immersion breaking... As this is supposed to be a period piece, of taking place in a historical old west... And sheriff's, female or not, did not dress like that, ever... Several characters need some work on their face poses in some scenes, as they look weird... On top of all that, most scenes look a bit too dark... The backdrops mostly look unique and creative...
The quest system needs a lot of work though, as that first Sara quest appears in the log before even talking to Sara, to get it in the first place, throwing the continuity off... There are flip picture animation scenes, but the text box sticks around and flashes with each picture change...
The script is a bit of an odd ball... The authors seemed as though they attempted to put some western twang, in how some characters were speaking, but in the process there are a lot of spelling/grammar errors mixed in, which throws off the immersion... The plot revolves around a male protagonist cowboy who wanders into a town with a lot of different odd things going on... From there the game seems as though it's supposed to be a mix of free navigation as well as story events mixed in with a quest system...
This VN/Game definitely needs some more polish to the quest system and so forth... The free navigation doesn't feel very free, because as soon as I went to a room, it felt like I was forced immediately down a linear story line... And that story line was extremely rushed, going rapidly from scene to scene until you get to a gunfight mini-game, which you could repeat if you failed...
Overall, the cowboy in an old west setting is unique and creative, but the execution of the story and plot felt completely rushed, with only the slightest amount of immersion... The visuals are ok at best, for most of the characters, while being ridiculous looking for others... The idea of a quest system seems cool, but it needs a bit of work, so the quests do not appear before being given them in the first place...
Now, this VN/Game is really early into production, so I expect there to be hiccups to work through... And because the idea behind this VN/Game is unique, I do plan to revisit it somewhere down the line... In order to check on it's progress and see if it improves on any of it's many inherent flaws... I wish the author/s the best of luck on this project, and look forward to seeing what the future holds for it...
