The other thing that you can try is to copy the app in the Renpy SDK folder and see if it starts from the Renpy app (you should find it listed there); if it starts regularly, then you can rebuild a Mac executable from the SDK and it should work.

I'm sorry I can't help more because I updated from Steam and it worked without any problem, maybe if you tell me which version you downloaded I can try to follow the same steps to see what's wrong.

it's a case of real life bleeding into the game. that's the dev's degree, psychology.

Hey it actually did work; I started over and mad the Mac executable BEFORE using fixperm and it worked; last time I'd used Fixperm before seeing your advice ... thanks!

I don't get why the dialogue says I rejected Megan even if I didn't? URM didn't even show a variable check. MC had sex with her, she said I could copy the ability right then, and MC just didn't and "rejected her?" Seems highly inconsistent. MC also seems very cold towards her. Like the right scene in the bedroom wasn't created or didn't show, and we got the "rejection" scene after for some reason?

The way this game is written I'm surprised it doesn't display the MC's exact XYZ coordinates and the percentage of how oxygenated everyone's blood is on each screen.

i just played the next update, I just thought of something while playing. I wouldn't be surprised if the MC is from a different world with hidden powers that no one knew about because he as a baby when he came to Earth and while fighting with Nathaniel, he starts to lose but then something happens and his hidden powers awakens and he really does defeat Nathaniel by removing his powers like in the animated show Avatar the Last Air Bender when Aang does to the Fire Lord Oxai when they fought lol.

So far, there's only a few games with magic that I enjoy tremendously but I haven't seen any new updates yet and starting to worry and that's The Fiery Scion And Tribulations of a Mage.

TFS just had a update its largest thus far (public release 2nd of Jan.),and its been using its magical aspects quite often.
although the dev for TFS doesn't really set deadlines it does average to about a update each 2-3 months.

ToaM is taking a bit longer because its next update is the final & epilogue update and whilst it might not always show its magical elements its always present in the story & dialogue, after the upcoming update the dev is going start part 2 off one off his other vn's(he's already working on it on the side).
and talothral is one off, if not the most consistent with updates.

2 bad example's to use a "worrying for updates" example IMO.
but this isn't a thread for that kinda discussion.

Not sure what this complaint is about, but as someone who doesn't like much on-screen distraction (menus, phones, etc.) there is nothing about this game 'on each screen' that is overwhelming.

If you mean that the story has an MC who actually listens to and adjusts to be respectful of the feelings of the female characters in a game (and this slowing the progress of the plot) then you probably are just playing the wrong game for you. At this point the style of the game is well-established, so complaining about it serves very little purpose. There are many fans who enjoy the rare game that is not openly misogynistic and has emotional depth compared to all the mindless animated porn games out there.

Interesting. MC has been repeatedly pointed out to be highly unusual and more talented than just about every other human. Almost as if he were using latent abilities unconsciously....

,and he is active and forthcoming about progress in the TFS thread,when you ask for about the status for the next update in that thread you will get a decent answer from him or a fan with subscriber or discord access(discord acces is paywalled but a onetime thing(a single 1 month sub = permanent discord acces)

I love it - for the story. Be warned that it's fugly HS1 tho.
