Consequences of Fred's choices....
Not really. If MC doesn't cheat (on hotwife path) she has sex with Shaun, without MC's prior approval (he said it was ok for fake sex, not real deal). She tells him about it, but it's still cheating.
After reading this, I’m wondering if my definition of ‘hotwife’ is incorrect.
Anyone please explain what hotwife is please?

A hotwife is the wife of a cuckold, basically. She will have fun with other men with the husband's encouragement and approval.

Just to clear up all the questions.
Fred gave Mary permission to take the photos. In addition, he hinted to her that she could have fun and play with Shaun as a hotwife. In hotwife games, sex with another man is not considered cheating if your spouse knows about it.

And you'd be surprised, there are definitely devs that don't know the difference.
I had forgotten that he asked what a hotwife would do. I guess that could be considered approval. However, later when she told him about it he was surprised that she went all the way.

I assumed he was more surprised because of the fact Zoey was around so it wouldn't of been private between Mary and Shaun. Especially considering how nervous she was to explore things at the start makes sense to me why he would of been surprised.

Fred won't be upset about Mary fooling around as long as he knows what's going on... He won't have to keep approving stuff all the time. He's not some kind of govt. authority giving away 'approvals'. Choice was given to Fred to say 'yes' on multiple occasions to sharing his wife with other men, and he has made his choices so far.
But yeah, at this point he just expects Mary to tell him about her adventures. Don't expect a corporate questionnaire of YES/NO. Any indirect choices (like saying 'yes' to soft porn knowing it would escalate considering the lifestyle they are in. You had an option to say NO, which would've stopped the scene right there.) would have an indirect approval of a sort. Winks, waving hands, leaving wife with another man for hours, etc... are some of the known points of escalations. If you don't want them to have sex, don't wink, wave or leave your wife. Simple. (Hotwife path only)
Rest assured there will be choices, I REPEAT, 'indirect worded choices' that will lead to more intimate situations.... You'll see this in chapter 5. Just a heads-up to make choices wisely if you don't wanna share Mary with others.

Well you're mostly right... although a hotwife is just someone who has sex with others outside of her marriage, it has nothing to do with being the wife of a cuckold. It's just a wife of someone who gives his consent and even encourages her to have extra-marital sex. Yes, in a lot of cases the guy IS a cuckold, but it's not necessarily always the case. Cuckolds by nature are submissive and view themselves as lesser to their partner's other lover(s). However, in the case of the MC and Mary, their dynamic has always been much more like a stag and vixen, especially since the MC is also allowed to have extra-marital sex with the wife's permission.Was meant to be sarcastic.

To get really technical, in hotwife relationships, the guy isn't supposed to be having extra-marital affairs at all, so even the hotwife path in this game is more akin to a swinger relationship. However with the wife having much more freedom, it's basically an open relationship on one side, and on the other side the husband being allowed to swing with the wife's permission.

Oh I know, that part was more in regards to GetOutOfMyLab, who likes to put most things extra-marital under the same cuckold umbrella, and you said that's also the definition you know, so I was just being a nit-picky pants.
