The lava area is still in development. New mobs have been added there, but their behavior hasn't been finalized yet. By the way, I highly recommend avoiding getting too close to the mobs, as your character will start burning and could die quickly.

for gear, pick all the damage gear you can find, preferably ones that increases magic power

If you're talking about the hearts above Imouto's head, you need to do all sorts of dirty things and have dirty conversations with her. Once the numbers reach 100%, hovering mouse cursor over Imouto will cause the heart to turn purple and reset the numbers of "Percentage" to zero.
By the way, ofter the handjob scene in the bathroom, if you're caught with underwear on, will lose one purple heart.
The fastest way to increase your "Percentage" is:
- touching Imouto at night (Milk with "Blue Konpeito" can help here. After 1 and especially 2, it will be more difficult to wake up Imouto).
- touching Imouto while she playing video games after dinner
- taking a bath together and touch the breasts
- milk with "Pink Konpeito" candies
dirty conversations and skinship raise the percentage too slowly.
