About Things You Can't Foresee
Good morning,
you probably have read by now that things didn't work out the way I wanted them in the past week. I would like to talk about that and about the next steps to 0.6.0.0.
The last week was very difficult for me. I didn't feel able to write any dialog, let alone do any real thinking-heavy work. I won't go into detail about what happened here, if you want you can read it in #offtopic on the discord.
Of course, I didn't just sit around. I needed a distraction, so I worked on animations for Ugotha instead, which is why her content will now be bigger in 0.6.0.0 than originally planned. I also finished the animations for Bianca and Gritz and added something to them as well. Finally, I have also added content to Bianca and Gavina that need a certain patch.
In the middle of the week I realized that I had created a lot of content, but that I wouldn't be able to add it in by the end of the week. This was when I decided to talk about what happened. I started on thursday to implement the pictures into the game, but then took them again (the code for them is still in the game, of course) because I realized that I wouldn't be able to get the scenes implemented in a meaningful way. I did this once for a scene with Tia when you failed to rescue her mother where you could only see animations without any dialog... this only takes away from the scene and ruins it in a way, so I decided to not do it again.
Instead, I concentrated on making the version executable and fixed bugs. So that I could release at least something for the past month (even though it was past midnight yesterday until I was done with everything).
In the meantime, I've halfway recovered. The whole thing will stay with me for a while I'm afraid, it also led me to add 2-3 lines of text yesterday to the intro and the confrontation with Gurtak during Tia's quest.
But it has to go on and I really want to finish this update and devote myself to Arianna's story, which some people have been waiting for a long time. Before that, however, a bonus scene for Imawyn at the camp is more than overdue.
So next week I'm going to get back to work and finally finish 0.6.0.0 before I continue with Imawyn. If you played the update you know that there is at least one big confrontation missing and then of course also the content at the goblin village that I cut out now.
I will release it as soon as I'm done with it.
For now I wish you all a nice weekend.
