I'm the co-developer of A Tale of One City.
I'm sorry to talk late. My co-worker was good at English, so he was in charge of all this writing, but he was sick.
He's been hospitalized for weeks. Fortunately I was told that he can leave the hospital in few days.
Because 0.3 work was already mostly done before he went to hospital, I think we can release it not to far.
Thanks for your understandings and sorry about the delay.
Glad to hear they are feeling better! Looking forward to v0.3

looks ambitious ... lots of locations and npcs... not a lot of content i guess...
(also i noticed 'route' in walkthroughs. if there would be several (alternatives) related to some main questchains - it might be not a good sign. to put it shortly - it is not VNs you can easily skip-replay so what sbx player gets is a feeling of having missed content without enough incentive to replay. plus it will make a game feel shorter and be burdensome to devs)

i decided to postpone gaming as it is bit uncomfy for me rn

QoL requests.
>timetweaking +- on the left menu would not hurt (in the future, with more content/npcs)
(there is only forward option in the phone.)
>ingame tips of any sort . as a solution something precise could be indicated in the last lines of dialogues
(visit X at Y place at Z time)
>npcs geotracking of any kind. like the typical one with attaching npc faces to corresponding locations.
( if it is on other map - then a face on main map area (like dale street, etc) -> when going there the face at certain location (workplace, etc) -> then in the exact room of that location (bathroom, etc)
>cannot turn off the sound (menu 'mute' options doesnot affect multimedia sound)

CTRL issues. QoL and buggy behaviour
>holding CTRL skips time - so it is very uncomfy for me
(as i usually skip all the text ...thus without my intention i skip time as well, and as no mod with rolling 1h back you loose 1game day in the best case scenario).
>holding CTRL skips the multimedia (xxx vids) as well. you would want to prevent it. (u may check popular renpy games, they have "protection" against it)
>holding CTRL makes you teleport to other location.
(didnot test that much. for example while being in one district i end up at the beach area after some skipping)
>holding CTRL (i think when i was in some of the street areas) leds to some

phone UI and misc
>world map via phone - havenot decided if it is comfy enough. looks like extra click, so i d just remove it from phone menu
(however that icon is available on the maps screen when you are outside. but not when you are inside buildings i think. )
>sleep button is of frequent use, id like it added to the up right corner... or to the leftside menu
>do i lack a font or is it TNRoman by default? (no good font. associated with undeveloped websites or microsoft word essays)
>i dont think i was bothered by energy consumption ...so cannot say that cheat to restore energy is needed
(unless it exists already but for patreons only)
>sometimes i dont mind reading, but renpy format with couple of sentences below just forces me to insta-skip on ctrl (instead of pressing 'space' 2 dozen times)... id prefer to have some alt option ...like smaller picture and the whole paragraph/dialogue being shown at once in some square.

I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

While loading <'Image' u'images/story/Family/f5/f5_livingroom_talk.png'>:
IOError: Couldn't find file 'images/story/Family/f5/f5_livingroom_talk.png'.


This happened when interacting with Kyley in the living room at Cherry's House, Late evening. Brand new game, and no patch.

So after giving it a playthrough I agree with a lot of previous commenters on this game gives you no direction in where to go or what to do. This is not good, a player needs some starting direction.

I am not a fan of using multiple different characters to represent the MC in the porn an example is with Cherry, the MC is 5+ different younger characters and then at the end an older man. To avoid this POV porn might be beneficial.

Some bugs exist, the systems though seem not properly locked down, like if you go somewhere and hold ctrl to speed up the text, it will move you other places.

Energy system as of now feels way too strict. Which to combat it you can spam jog everyday for the whole day.

Distance between places should always use shortest route. Going from Acre to Dale will do a 2 energy bus route, but going Acre to Park to Dale uses nothing.

You get the option to work a lot but only get paid for the first time.

Sometimes when you run out of energy the game will place you in a different location afterwards, I got moved from swimming to Supervisor's office.

Game has a lot of grammar and typo problems. Try Grammarly or Language tool.

After learning from cherry how to talk to people and gain points, some people only gain points half the time.

Not a fan you are railroaded to cherry as your first rather than whom you may want.

The game needs a lot of work as of now. Good luck.

Long time, pals.


I am sorry that I haven't shared how this project has been for a while.
I have been hospitalized for some time and got back few weeks ago.


Me and my friend took it from where we left before I got sick and just finished v0.3.

Due to our tight schedule, v0.3 had to move some of its contents to v0.4
We though about delaying this update for a week or more but decided to release it for now and
make v0.4 a big update since we haven't updated the game for couple months.


Other than stories and scenes added, we put some time on improving QoL and design aspects of the game.
And, we added a little schedule button that will show locations of each characters as well. (This will be replaced with much better system in v0.4)
It is because, after reading all of you comments, we came to a conclusion that this game needs much better hint system,
QoL improvement and some tweaks to decrease grind.

Those changes are based on your kind and helpful opinions and we feel really grateful about them. Thank you.



We are going to start working on v0.4 tomorrow, and it is going to be a big update including some of the contents that we planned to have in v0.3



So what we have in v0.3 update are as following:

v0.3 Changelog
• Cherry's repeatable events are added. (Basic storyline is done but more contents will be added in the future updates)
- Kitchen at lunch
- Kitchen at dinner
- Backyard
- Livingroom
- Bathroom

• Tori's story-line is added. (3/4 of basic storyline is done)
• Added Kimmy's storyline (Including the player's first promotion event - intelligence perk added as well)
• Added and polished events in company activities
• QoL improvement (Now you can see where characters are at with one click!)
• Added Patreon features (Cheats / Bonuses / Fast Travel to certain locations / etc.)
• Design aspect of game is improved (Mostly font changes)
• Tweaked numerous settings to reduce grind (stats, starting amount of money, event requirements, and etc.)
• Rewriting scripts for better quality (still in progress so far -we expect it to be finished by next update)
• Introducing store features (Only supermaket and few items are added so far)
• Other trivial improvements and bug-fixes.







Our plan for this summer are such as following:


Development Plan: (changed 6/28)

Update (0.4) - July Update (Big Update)

Since we had to delay our development schedule due to my health issues and rush out the v0.3,
we had to postpone certain contents to v0.4. So this upcoming update will be a Big one.

v0.4 will focus on 4 things that are;

• Expanding storylines of characters in the house
- Finishing Tori's basic storyline + Repeatable scenes
- More Jen storyline
- A little bit of Chloe's storyline

• More for Company route
- More Kimmy storyline
- Progress on Emily's storyline
- Beginning of Rachel's storyline
- More random scenes and activities
- Perks related to career progress

QoL Overhaul (Very Important)
- By changing the design, it will be much easier to see where characters are at.
- Hint and guide system to enhance gameplay experience

• Rewriting and polishing scripts
-
We have heard quite a few complaints regarding the games script and decided to put much time to improve them.
- Revising the entire script to enhance its quality
- Font size and arrangement to make it less of a chore to read text.
- Basic typos and etc

# Other additional contents are to be added, but we haven't decided which should come first yet.



For the Next two summer updates (v0.5 & 0.6),
we are going to add cars, different types of stores and items
Regarding character contents, we will finish couple of character's storyline and repeatable scenes

It is too early to fix exact order to add those contents just yet, but these will be major elements that are included in the updates.


What is fixed so far for the 2 updates are :

Update (0.5) - August Update
• Introducing of real estate feature (and related events and scenes)
• Some neighbor storyline
• More company questline

Update (0.6) - September Update
• Introducing cars and related scenes and events (Or adding more of them if it is implemented in v0.5)
• Adding more real estate related scenes and events

- These are least things to do for the two updates that we are likely to add more in them.










So for coming v0.4, we plan to;

1. improve the quality of life aspect greatly (visible location track system // hint system implementation)
2. revise and rewrite all the script (the whole scripts in the game isn't even up to par until now)
3. tweak stats and system to lessen the grind
4. add more contents and stories than usual updates since it is a big update.
5. put shop system and much of its related locations that function



for Next 2 summer updates, we will priortize in;

1. finishing implementing basic system of the game (cars, real estates, and etc.)
2. polishing questlines and their structure
3. filling up empty spaces with activities, scenes, and events.
4. storyline for people in the company route

when i started the game, there is a problem with text showing ->'
Is it just me or there's something to work on in future?

I want to enjoy this game, but the energy consumption and recharge feature is abysmal. I would suggest a auto-home feature for when you are stuck without energy and can't get home. Or else you should be able to call somebody to come and get you to take you home. I will check back after a few updates and see if there are any improvements. Good luck, Dev!.

Cheat codes. Open the console usually [SHIFT] O. then use the following codes. I have no idea if this will have any negative impact on the game so use at your own risk. The numbers are the default values when you start the game. Cheers!
