Eh, I dunno. Steam just allows content that is legal in whatever country the game is being released in. That's why it might look less strict. Rape&Co for example are legal in the US under the premise of artistic expression.

Patreon certainly did catch up with their updated guidelines, but it's still more difficult getting your porn game approved on Steam than it is to get going on Patreon imo.

No, it is not. Steam just doesn't sell games in countries where laws prohibit it, Germany, and so on, no adult game is allowed to sold in Germany through Steam.

There are many games on Steam that are not allowed or have been removed from Patreon for breaking their guidelines.

People are so behind the times with Steam.

It's pretty easy to see why most got denied. Most games now-a-days get approved on Steam unless the game has one of those 3 things I listed above.

That's pretty much what I just said, just worded differently. If rape wasn't "artistic expression" in the US, Steam wouldn't be able to sell games with rape in the US.

The amount of VN's with one of the 3 fetishes you mentioned is massive. If they can't get past Steam's review and approval, they can't be sold, and thus there's nothing to remove either.

There are games on Patreon that didn't get the approval by Steam aswell. Goes both ways.

As for AWAM; I don't even know how Steam deals with copyright infringement. AWAM has tons of illegal assets. Big brand logos, clothes, movies...Uhh..

That sheet as well those games were ON STEAM and approved, they even had Steam pages to wish list them, there are even the links to them in that sheet, and were removed before they went on sale for some reason or another.

As for copyright, unless someone hits them with a DMCA or something of that nature, most games will replace/blur those kinds of things.

You're talking about this rule?

"Adult content that isn’t appropriately labeled and age-gated"

And there's also this one, which is what I'm talking about;

"Content that violates the laws of any jurisdiction in which it will be available"

Which is why content involving rape for example is legal in the US as it's "artistic expression". If it was illegal, Steam wouldn't be able to sell it.
