VN - Ren'Py - A Wife and Mother [v0.210] [Lust & Passion]

Everything about this game is disappointing.

It starts off interesting, with nice art and a moderately interesting story. But it goes very quickly downhill...

The pacing of the game is incredibly slow. It's one thing to make a slow-burn game, but this is operating on geological time - where aons are defined in millions of years. So lots of time in the game with very limited progress. If that's your thing, cool. But I find it boring.

Too much text - a game of a million clicks. That might be forgivable if it was well written, but it's not. The characters have slightly less than zero emotional depth. So you have lots of text, which is about as exciting watching paint dry for precisely no reward.

Then there's the pace of the updates. For this, see point one. The pacing of the game matches the pace of the updates. I'm not convinced it'll reach any sort of conclusion before the sun expands to end life on earth.

And lastly, trying to get Part 2 to run after finishing Part 1... it makes it sound so easy. But don't be fooled - it doesn't work. The help doesn't work. Others have made it work - but it's not straightforward for most.

Don't be fooled by the (probably rubbish) jokes in this review. This is not a good game and not worth your time.

This game, as it honestly promises, offers nothing but a life story of a married woman. It is full of dialogues and daily stuff, including using restrooms. They whole idea is based on slowly building the characters and their relations. That means, awfully slow story progress. It is full of dialogues and when I say full, I mean enough to fill a book.

Thus, this is not actually a game. I do not mean an "erotic" game. This is not a game at all. What we have here is a visual novel. So it is meaningless to discuss its game mechanics, since there is none.

So, since its a visual novel, I am gonna evaluate it as a VN.

The story is awful. It is full of clichés. Anything you can imagine is in this story. Incest, lesbian, NTR, blackmail, maid fantasy, teacher stuff, peeping... everything. EVERYTHING. But all are still on the early stages. FOR YEARS. It simply cannot move forward. The story is just stuck. It does not progress. It's repeating itself.

THIS GAME IS ALL ABOUT TEASING IMAGINATION. No real tease. Just the imagination.

And I am afraid, when devs think it is enough, they'll just rush it to the end then we will have sudden sex scenes that would ruin the whole story.

Anyway, with its current pace, your grandson, if he lives long enough, can see the end of this game.

I really like this game. There's something about the female protagonist's slow corruption that is very enjoyable. If you're a fan of trainer-type games, this game manages to scratch that same itch in what is, in my opinion, a more organic way.

However, this game takes the term "blue balling" to the next level. Make no mistake, this is not the game to play if you're just wanting a quick fap. This is for the ones that enjoy that slow burn and erotic plot.

AWaM achieves both of those, but doesn't actually give you any payoff that feels worthwhile. You'll sink hours into the game, excited to see what happens next, only for the game to end on what always feels like an erotic cliffhanger. Then at the beginning of the next update, the aforementioned situation is much less erotic than it was originally made out to be and ends up being just a light tease.

Updates are released at a snail's pace. I often have a hard time remembering what happened previously, which results in me having to play through the whole game again to only get to see what amounts to about 10 minutes of new content, usually.

The game is just too much of a commitment to follow during development in exchange for too little payoff. If the game ever hits full release, I'll be thrilled to play it in its entirety. But until then, I have a hard time seeing myself trying out any new updates and getting my hopes up.

It's a shame too. I enjoy the characters, the scenarios are hot, and the writing isn't too corny (for a porn game, at least). As good as these things are, at the state the game is in, I just don't feel like it's worth the time it demands from you.

Not usually a fan of female protag games but this one still works. Love the whole lesbian action and the alabama stuff really got me going. Its nice to have a different perspective sometimes from other male mc type games. Of course this game is not perfect but I would definitely like to see more.

To tell the truth, this is a very hard VN to rate for me, as the pro's and con's are so varied that it's hard to judge one way or the other, but I'll try...

Let's get the worst stuff out of the way. The development time is *horrible* . I was a patron of L&P years ago, when this was a relatively new VN, because, back then, frankly, it blew me away. But a clear pattern emerged even then, because I stopped donating after about a year to a year and a half. In the creator's own words, this is a "slow-burn" novel, and you're lucky if new content is released three times in a year. I cannot recommend donating to this author on a *monthly* basis for content that you might get every *six* months, or so. If you want to play this, get a free version.

Another problem is, as others have noted, is the lack of actual erotic content. Now, there is plenty of teasing material, some skin, and limited touching, but no real actual sex, except in a path (the loving, faithful wife route) that most people likely wouldn't pursue (me included). Now, this second point isn't so bad as the first, as narratively, it makes a lot of sense. This is a story about a grown woman slowly succumbing to her suppressed desires, and from a story-writing standpoint, her not instantly jumping into the sack with the various characters involved is right. But... as an erotic novel, it DOES leave your "monkey-brain" frustrated.

Another problem arises from the "various characters" I noted above. This is an ambitious novel, with many characters involved. This adds to the immersion... but also subtracts from it. There are too many characters, jumping in and out of the story. It can be easy to forget a few or their roles. I get it, some are there just to, apparently, move the MC's corruption along (for example, the maid or the museum boys) with no clear idea if that character is actually supposed to be a potential partner for the MC in the future. Many of these characters appear to be in the story just to allow the player to add specific "points" to the MC instead of actually driving story along.

Which leads to an admittedly minor gripe about the "points" system itself. The system is meant to count the amount of "corruption" of the MC has accumulated, plus help track "routes" with characters. In a sandbox-style game, this makes total sense, but in a narrative-driven game, it is incredibly frustrating. The system basically forces a player to use guides or cheat mods as it is too easy to miss content. If a player wants to skip certain scenes that hold no interest for them, they quite often come up short on the necessary amount of points for the scene that they *do* want. Story-wise, if a player is just spamming the spacebar to get through an scene for the "points", the scene itself is wasted.

There is good, however. Renders are beautiful, with attention to detail such as posing and backgrounds. The models are not stock, as far as I can tell, including hair and such. MC, and other characters, react (mostly) to situations in a sane manner. The more important characters each have their own personality and story (whether we as players LIKE those stories or not), and have their own roles to play in the MC's journey. The author is obviously a non-English speaker, and it can lead to some confusing dialogue, but, for the most part manages to get the point across well enough. Overall, the writing is actually pretty good. "Slow-burn" can be frustrating, but "edging" leads to a better "ending"... but "blue-balls" hurt, too.

In conclusion to this rambling review this is a beautiful yet frustrating VN. Its positives are clear, due to the thousands upon thousands of people downloading, playing, and commenting on it. But, many of those commenting are understandably negative towards it... because we think that it could be so much more. Female Protagonist erotic VNs are rare compared to their counterparts, and AWAM could be a legend, even amongst the broader category of erotic VNs. I would recommend playing it, but only for free... and only with a guide or cheat mod installed.

but the story of the game is been done for years and just teasings scenes with main characters like Dylan and Ellie, I think the main characters is are already developed, so we can get more action in the story!

if it was a game with only 03 or 04 updates, it would be normal to have a slower content regarding action scenes, as it would still be showing the personalities of each one.

been watching this for a while and finally abandoning it. Slow updates, a few renders, and opening new story lines while ignoring old ones. It's turning into a mess. Art is great however. You'll play it, want more then realize you'll have to wait 2 years for 3 more renders

Best game and most of us are here for this storyline and the way its moving slow and sensual between characters unlike other games.

An uncomplicated game to have a good time, as I like them.
The women are beautiful and sexy.
I don't like the two young male characters. I don't like male characters in games. The more women and less men, the better.
The script is simple and light. The only thing I don't like is the Casino scene. I don't think it's appropriate, but that's up to the dev.
The MILF scene with the young girls in the pool is great.
I recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy an entertaining and easy game.

A bit bpring really. hardly any sex stuff happens. I was hoping more interaction between the mom and the young boy sam, or at least her son and another milf but no. Complete tease of nothing happening.

And you have to do a file share or else you cannot play the second half. Either the dev could not be bothered to put it all together or the files are way too big.

Well, in my opinion the game is great in terms of storytelling, but...
From the point of view of the speed of development and the amount of content, it is terrible, I am absolutely sure that the developer is making 20-30% of his efforts from his average (not maximum) values. Recurring characters, backgrounds (pool, house, park, etc.) and different angles on the same background with minimal differences (facial expressions, gestures) it is also a deception, with the help of which the developer has a minimum number of renderers when updating. The strong side, as I said before, is history. And the characters here are written really great, perhaps by this parameter this is one of the best novels and the developer probably spends the most time and effort on it. This is an extremely important part, because if history is not important to you, you can watch classic porn with fake moans and orgasms, and therefore most people like porn parodies, because the parodied characters also have a well-written history, character, preferences, pros and cons. From the point of view of art, everything is very good here, especially post-processing, but there are no animations, as well as the aforementioned deception with an inflated number of renderers/content.
So, this game deserves a good rating, but unfortunately, not the highest, because of the quite typical attitude of the development from Patreon to their offspring. I would like the author to change his approach, but alas, this will happen. In any case, I am grateful to him for this game and wish him success in the future.

Except for the speed of the update, the game is really exciting.
However, the game's update rate is too slow to be subtracted.

Two parts are available.

part 1: interesting story but so many discussions, so many choices... and by the end of the part 1, there is nothing. It's okay, as it can be read as an introduction. But at some point, you really want to have some "direction". Like for example Ellie, MC daughter. She has a bond with her best female friend. Then with her mother. Yeah go lesbian team! But then she meets some random tatooed badboy and is fooling with him. Why?

MC corruption is okay, but why is it so "slow" in playable time? I get that ingame time, it requires time. No problem with that. But real time, I played a full day and she was still in "hesitating" phase, not wanting to choose her husband.
Husband who has no clue, but is even more a fool: in ONE night at a casino, he loses their whole house! and the MC, his wife, do NOTHING except saying "it's bad!". The man litteraly destroyed your life in one night. Be at least angry with him?!? next day, she has a way out because plot reasons, and she tells the husband. Reaction of the husband? "ok cool it's fixed... can we have sex?"
The same husband who during the whole game time before refused to have sex with her for many (good and bad) reasons.

And the wife is at no point pissed of. Nor is she keeping the fact that her life was threatened as was her children life, their house, against him!?!

So there is a bit of the phenomenon "make things worse but then backpedaling when the story goes nowhere" vibe in this.

Part 2: due to my path in part 1, it consisted of 5 minutes of gameplay and nothing to do, no choice.

Apparently it's a game suffering from a "patreon" model and it shows.
I'd suggest playing it only when it is complete, at which point the game would probably be very fun to play, if you can accept a "not so believable" story.

After 3 years I can vote this game.
Many teasing scenes, the storyline is really confused.
It's an ambitious project but the development is really slow.
The idea of slow burn story is interesting on first playable days after is quite boring.
I hope to see more in the future but for now my vote is negative.

One of the best games that I've played so far.
- The story is excellent
- The pace that carries the main char to the actual sex is so nice. Not so fast, not so slow. It keeps wonder gamers without making them exhausted
- The art is so cool, in the 2nd part; it even develops to an extremely cool level.
- The only thing that bothers me is sometimes there can be a lot of text to read which can be shortened 30% approximately. But this is not a must, so it can be tolerated. My rating is 5 stars!

ok... too bad I can't give more than 5 stars, the developer's talent can't be questioned, the game is just perfect. great renders, great story and personally I have to say that the characteristics of each character are perfectly correct, seriously guys... this developer is talented. This game is one of my favorites of all, so for me it's the best female protagonist game, it just has to improve a little bit in the updates. ok the corruption of MC Sophia is the most exciting part for me. I just hope there are more updates on this path from here on out it's time to have a sex scene with characters other than her husband.
