Some porn elements that were widespread decades ago have faded from the scene since the mass use of the internet. There's a lot of fetishes around in this century, however, which were not commonplace in my porn-reading-viewing youth. Although I'm not interested in them as erotic set-ups I could like, (I can't stand most of them & find them distinctly UNerotic), I have tried to understand some of them because of ongoing general curiousity about things pornographic. This has consisted of reading commentaries & articles & also simply asking fans & followers of specific kinks.
So far I've found, when it comes to incest, the breaking of the societal taboo has to be present, with the fictional participants being blood relatives. Mother & son scenarios are favourite. IMO this reflects the preponderance of youths amongst those who are into this fetish. (I've yet to see any information on how many continue their interest once they've become parents themselves). Fans have told me that the landlady & lodger version doesn't work & even a "step" familial bond, though possibly somewhat better, is not enough. These aspects can be enjoyable but no more so than sex between any ordinary fictional characters.
I know that doesn't fully answer the question & certainly isn't based on original research but if the Steam project goes ahead with a landlady/tenant combination, we may have a chance to see how the incest following AWAM fanbase reacts. I'm guessing there'll be a lot of "holding out for a hero" with a patch.
