Uh Patricia had already warned her of safety and given the pepper spray so yes she had been warned. So you walk down and see a bad situation. Do you stay? No you haul your ass out of Dodge. Was that a choice? Nope! It was L&P choice to do it that way. I would have done a Taxi. She could have even set that up before she left Claire's. I imagine Claire would not have had an issue keeping a paying client safe.
I always love how you resort to the it was "MY" choice thing. No it is not. All the story, good and bad is L&P's choices. If you want to read a novel do you skip chapters randomly. I am pretty sure you would miss a few ideas from the Bard or Mr Tolstoy. In this case if you take certain paths L&P takes other paths away from you. It is his choice. Not mine, not yours! So stop with that Trope it was "My" choice. I am commenting on his realism and how he forces issues vice taking the time to create the logic of the story. It is his fail. I have no problem saying he is a skilled artist and he has done some great work. However, I also have no problem saying he screwed up. Apparently you do. Why is that?

His claim was class and realism. Therefore, he can get called on it any time he fails and praised any time he succeeds. All the choices and results are his. None of us wrote the story. We are in his realm. If you think that your choice is actually your choice you are sadly mistaken. Were you/we given the choice to avoid the subway and take a taxi. NOPE! Whose choice was that. She warned her about roaming on those streets not the subway station. On a bad day nothing is safe, Even ones own house.
What bad situation did she see. Could she foretell that the subway is empty at a reasonable hour or that she will he attacked. When she enters the subway she too is surprised at how empty it is. Giving you the impression that it was not the case in her previous city. If I move to a new city and decide to take the subway I would consider using it based on my experience with the transport in the previous city, not automatically assume that I going to get attacked.
It's just like how as an audience of a horror movie when you see MC go down the cellar of his own house when he hears a noise, most people call him dumb or and idiot not considering that they as an audience are aware there is actual danger not the MC. Hence most people call it unrealistic not stopping to think that it would be logical thing for the MC to do.
As for the option of the taxi, why not also have an option of calling Liam to come pick her up. If he can't then Carl or Patricia. Then an option to directly take the bus and also an option of Claire considering to drop Sophia home as she is concerned for her safety and of course we have the option of her taking her own car. Let's have 200 renders of Sophia having realistic options to go home because In a real world she definitely would.
Because until L&P gives us every choice possible in the world for the situation it isn't realistic and it is basically his choice not mine.
He should have also given a choice for the way Sophia is dressed for the "Damn Biker Bar" as I and many others find it unrealistic.
If we sit down to pick apart the scenes and try to provide solutions for every situation in the game, there will hardly be a scene left. For god's sake there are solutions to every Saw Movie Trap. So what would you say, that was unrealistic as well because all of those had a solution to them, a way to avoid their deaths and it didn't occur to the people. If things don't happen the way that they do there is no story to tell.
