Splendid! Already a fortnight (!) in new game-start with absolutely no game-stopping error. Your hard work seems to have paid off. (Also my other two saves with 0.92.7 look like they are working, so I am truly grateful) My humble thanks once more time and I am happily going on playing.

Started a new game with 0 intelligence girl in order to answer your interesting question. It seems to take money to partake studying in university, not intelligence per se. Most intelligence is needed to find the university - and that comes from the player and game-maker, not game-character. No surprise there, I guess.
[Preparatory courses 15000 rubles appears to be minimum. Diploma can apparently be bought too, for 700000 rubles in v0.92.7 version - with no painstaking studying, going to lectures, partying, having "unisex -experiences" and such, I imagine.]
Wild guess: For a total idiot - like me or my game-girl - it is probably much easier and cheaper to cheat than study.
You can play chess or read books to quickly raise the Intelligence parameter. Preparatory courses are not the only option to get to the University. If the Intellect parameter is high enough, you will calmly pass the entrance exams. Unfortunately, I can't say for sure exactly what amount of Intelligence is needed, but it is easily raised to the maximum by the methods that I described above.
You can play chess or read books for free in the library of the House of Culture in the same area where the University is located. In addition, I remembered now that the Intellect parameter is well raised by meditation. You can buy a meditation mat at sports stores.
