I have read positive things about the Chloe 18 series. I doubt I'd actually play those because I generally stick with the male MC stuff, but the thought has occurred before. So, I'm not saying "never" to that idea. Braveheart Academy has been on my radar for a while now, though. In fact, I may give it a try soon. I'm guessing that I'll likely enjoy the playing experience more than you did, based on my preferences.
Again, what's good or bad writing is all subjective. Personally, I think there are some good writers of VN's out there. DriftyGames did a fantastic job with "Leap of Faith", and "Now & Then" by ILS Productions is also really good. Ptolemy's "Alexandra" is actually not too shabby at all either. I feel like there are VN's that have storylines good enough to be made into TV series, or films (considering some of today's TV series and movies leave a lot to be desired). But, that's my PERSONAL opinion. The next guy might completely disagree, and I have absolutely no control over that. The only thing you can do is to appreciate the VN's/games you actually enjoy.
Reading is good, and so is watching movies. It may be because I generally focus on the 3D stuff, but VN's, to me, are something else entirely. They offer a similar experience to reading comicbooks, but the visual is in 3D and many of those also come with audio which is a plus. I'm not particularly after the porn aspect of it. I'm more interested in the story and whether or not I can "self-insert" so that I can experience the story from the MC's perspective. I prefer the romantic, vanilla stuff with a likeable (but not spineless) male MC for this very reason.
In Chloe Fake Family you play as a man... but you can also play as a woman...
I have absolutely no interest in reading the writings of some pervert... but if I want to read something, then I’d rather read the Capital of Karl Marx... or Lenin, or Engels, Stalin, Hegel, Cicero... And if I want to watch something , then I will have a choice of my favorite porn, 3D porn and much more... But when I want to play a game... I don’t want to read or watch, I want to play... You can create a normal game on the renpy engine , but it’s much easier to just take pictures and text... And tell your own ridiculous story... And if I can understand the authors of such crafts, then I just don’t understand the people who eat them...
Here... comics, yes!.. Developers need to draw comics and not create stupid VN...
Where have I seen a site purely with VN... I think this is a good idea... because VN are not games...
