If that was enough to get me noticed, [...]
Noticed by who ?
What apply to your ISP apply even more for hosting sites, since they would also have to lookup at your IP address to see from what country you are.
What are the other possibilities ? A honey pot hosting site, created specifically by the Australian government to track porn users ? Unless you use a recent hosting site, we would know it if one of the others was a trap.
And of course, the Australian government haven't compromised the main routers in the country to monitor the traffic.
This just left you with a trap torrent mirror. This is the only real possibility, so avoid downloading torrents.
The (sad) truth is that there's way more fear on the net than there's real legal risks.
When it's purely and strongly illegal (so, for porn, mostly p*d*shit), there's risks if you go to some obscure sites, or too recent ones. They can be traps with, behind, cops who analyze everything. But it don't apply to sites like this one, it's too old and there's too many members. If it was a trap, once again we would know it.
What doesn't mean that there isn't some cops here, there surely is. But they aren't here for you, and they can only see what you publicly say. So, now they know that one among the 25 millions Australians download porn from here ; and I'm sure that they aren't at all surprised. But the only thing they know about him is that he's named "CheyenneFilter". Unless your parent's are named
Filter, and they had the audacity to name you
Cheyenne, they don't know which one of those 25 millions you are.
And I would add that they don't really care. They are here for bigger fishes, and to cross information in order to catch them.
As for the rest, it's not that the authorities don't care, it's that they can't do much.
Of course, everyday in the world there's people who are caught because of what they did on the net.
But what they did on the net serve as proof of a previous suspicion. They know that X is doing something illegal and then, through a legal process generally involving a judge, ask your ISP to either track your activity, or to provide the logs regarding your activity.
In the majority of cases it works in this order, they know before they have the proof. So, have you reason(s) to suspect the authorities to be actively tracking you ? If, as I guess, the answer is no, you've nothing to fear.
Strictly speaking, you can download all the illegal content you want. As long as you don't trigger the attention of the authorities by going on shady sites, and/or uncertain sites that are traps, and/or saying things that make you suspicious, no one will know that you exist.
And, no, as I implied above, telling here that you are from Australia and download porn is not enough. I don't know what is the criminality states of Australia, but I'm sure that they have enough works, with way more dangerous people than you. They simply don't have time for trivialities like this. To their eyes, it's like you crossed the road somewhere you shouldn't have ; it's illegal, but who have time for this ?
There's some countries, those that actively criminalize pornography, where it would be different, but it's not the case of Australia.
Here in Australia, depictions under 18 (way older than what most people would consider loli) are illegal.
In most of the world it's illegal.
And, before you starts again to freak out, no, even writing this will no be enough. Perhaps that one of the cops here will take a quick look at what you could have said in other threads, and see if it trigger something once crossed with other sources of information, but that's all. Like I doubt that you are a p*d*shit, they'll just drop the case. And if you were one, well, honestly I would be happy that you made a mistake.
While the cops around there think that you are a pervert ? Yes.
While they think that you are a dangerous pervert that they need to deeply investigate on ? No.
