Sums up a lot of my frustrations with this game. I really like Agent17 for its hot characters and kinks that fit my taste, but the management of the game really drags it down.I'm not mad at slow 6 month updates I'm generally mad that the update is not Red Rose, and about trash characters the minority care about when there are excellent characters like mom, Ruby and Amelia. And then we have to wait another 6 months for another trash again
Slow updates are one thing, everyone would like content faster but there are a lot of high quality games that have long update cycles (Eternum by Caribdis for example). But it's really the constant slipped deadlines and broken promises that make me angry. This content was originally supposed to be part of the update 4 months ago, slipped past it's new timeline of 1 month after the previous update, and now it's been 4 months and an entirely different year. When the dev most recently said he hopes to release the update before the end of the month in December, my internal expectations shifted to end of January (and that probably means we'll see it end of February).
And one of the main contributing factors to this is scope creep. The last update introduced a new character in Melissa along with this mindless grindy drug making side activity and teacher blackmail scenes. Like I'm not the biggest fan of Ophelia, Sakura, and Alice, but at least they are pretty consistently popular and are what people voted on for the update (and the dev even failed to deliver the Alice content). But it's proven in polls that people sure as hell don't care about the Teacher and like why introduce an entirely new character who doesn't seem to be popular at all. I totally get wanting to flex your own creativity and wanting to work on what you're passionate about, but then don't put out polls at all. This level of extraneous work is too much for what is supposed to be user driven content. The new update was originally supposed to be Alice, but now has Ruby (good inclusion but still scope creep) as well as Nora/Adele (consistently unpopular characters).
Which brings me to how the dev structures update content. This itself is inherently flawed because it groups unpopular characters with popular ones. The next update after Alice is supposed to be Agent17, Luna, and Erica. That option got voted in simply because Agent17 is the most popular character and we are starved from content about her. Hardly anyone wants Erica content. So these trash characters take away updates from more popular characters. Anriel is the 4th most popular character and within the top 5 the last 3 polls (2 years btw), why the fuck are we still looking for her bird after all these years?
The guy literally has a poll rn for a Sophia model rework when
a) he has not released content that was supposed to be included in the previous update for over 3 months after his original planned deadline
b) Sophia is not part of the planned update following the one the upcoming one that again was supposed to be part of the last update
c) who asked for this? Sophia is not that popular. I like her, but she's hovering around top 10 for me, and she isn't in the top 10 popularity vote
He should be held accountable to get the game in a better state but the current patron subscription model is terrible for that. People forget about their subs, and subs tend to be simps anyway.
