This is why explicit tagging — MM, MF, FF, etc. — is superior to the current system.

If you think about it, "lesbian" used for anything other than a 100% FF game isn't an accurate tag. Same for "gay" if the sexual content isn't exclusively MM. They'd at least have a chance of being accurate if tags were meant to refer to characters (MC or NPC) rather than events, but that's not how they're supposed to be used. It's a very poor and ham-handed way to indicate that, for instance, there's an FF sex scene or two somewhere in an otherwise MF game, which is probably close to 95% of the reason the "lesbian" tag is deployed on this site.

Add the (optional) suffix to each explicit tag and you'll solve the problem of games like The Things We Do For Love, in which about 1/3 of the game thread is people asking if the gay content can be avoided. It's just a more efficient and accurate tagging system all around.

Your best bet for pure lesbian games might be to comb through threads like this one where people are looking specifically for lesbian scenes:

https://f95zone.to/threads/lesbian-scenes-in-adult-games-appreciation-thread-definitely-nsfw.21693/

As others have mentioned, most games without the gay tag do have lesbian scenes in them. But most games don't focus exclusively on lesbian scenes, although I'd say the game where it's more common would be if you have a female protagonist with a female roommate/sister/whatever rather than a single female or a female in a MF relationship of some sort.

You're probably more likely to find games where lesbian content is similar to the NTR path in games that include that. It's there and you can focus on it yourself, but you'll probably see some of the vanilla content as well and usually there won't be a way to avoid all of it.

The appreciation threads are there to look for specific scenes that might not reflect the entire game so as much as that might help, it's actually a detriment to those who just want a pure lesbian game/VN as you'd just get people more frustrated. In that thread, it's a high probability that most of the games/VN's mentioned aren't pure lesbian focused as it's not popular to make.

Tags should be the way to help people filter for games quickly and as others have mentioned that they want a superior tag experience that they should wait till the PH suggestion is implemented then you can start suggesting tags yourself.
