I confirm, there was no warning message or anything.
I think they must have been under a lot of pressure to make such a radical decision so quickly.
Yes, it's like they didn't planned this properly and made a sudden and not entirely-well executed decision. This thread started with an uploader noticing this, and not because of an official statement.

When you get banned, do they tell you why or link to appeal or does it straight 404 you? Itch accepts payments, so did they just yoink your pending money too?

I guess coffin of andy and leyley officially HAS to cut incest out of the game then, huh. Shame they work slower than redamz, we couldve actually have gotten the good stuff first.

because people are weird and illogical and dont think with anything but emotion. There is no logic, but GoT is THEIR content, that one rape and incest book about daddy coming into your room at night thats a best seller in the womens books section is THEIR content.
This is about harming YOU and YOUR content. Not the content itself.

Once more, I am surprised that people are surprised about this... and it's pretty clear that people were, somehow, surprised by this...

Now, I've never used itch for anything myself, not even to follow devs or anything... but I did know that itch was called out in that one letter from what one group of crazy bitches. It was pretty obvious that itch was going to be hit hard. It doesn't matter if the letter or whatever was the cause or just an excuse that VISA and MC used. The moment Steam was hit, everyone that made adult games and relied on any kind of Western store-front or whatnot should have paid attention and started taking measures.

Itch was not safe.

Subscribestar is also not safe. They already have the ToS that allow them to purge the required content and it's likely only a matter of time until VISA and MC turn their eye there.

No Western storefront is safe. I wouldn't be surprised if they started going for other sites too that I could name, but which I won't on account of the fact that I don't want to make it easy for google searches to help idiots to cause trouble.

Even if someone wants to make a store-front for this, they'd need to do so explicitly without VISA, MC and PayPal, and in the current situation, doing something like that would make it really hard to handle money.

Crypto-currency is not the solution as it currently is. It's too volatile. It's too difficult to get into for the average person. We're talking about people that can't use something like save-edit-online for RPGM games here. You expect those people to bother with something as inconvenient and risky as crypto? For smut? I know plenty of people who'd prefer to just give up on smut or stick to strictly pirating it than bother with crypto.

Hell, an alternative payment processor would just be a stop-gap. Even if we somehow managed to make JCB available through the west and did a Western Version of dlsite and ci-en that relied exclusively on JCB and whatnot, it wouldn't be enough.

What needs to be done is a change of laws. What needs to be done is setting into law the idea that "fiction is fiction", and thus shouldn't be treated with the same standards as reality. This will not be simple or easy. It also needs to be done primarily in places like the US and the EU, and thus needs to come from people there. Someone like me from the ass-end of Eastern Europe's (supposedly) Post-Communist Shit-Holes can yap their mouth all they want and sign all the petitions they want... It will not matter. If people in the US, in countries like Germany, France and Spain and the like, do not move, it won't matter.

Not just that, people have already tried.
Visa and MC just say that using any OTHER payment processor to handle transactions like that will still result in them pulling service. If steam or itch made their own service or had itch.adult, visa and MC would just pull the plug anyway. Theyre a mafia. Circumvention isnt an option

You either REPLACE them entirely, or, you legally fight them.
You aint winning either way.

It might have already begun.

One well known 3d monster porn animator is currently under review of Subscribestars payment service
he had to send them documents and stuff, Subscribestar has put his revenues on hold until further notice

Reading all this it indeed looks like a major purge initiated by the largest payment services
Hope he has permission to use IP characters from the video games he mentions - otherwise that violates Subscribestar's rules. Not even getting into the adult content.

This doesn't help either:

Because that's explicitly prohibited by Subscribestar's adult #1 rule regarding obscenity:

Again, just about every adult game on Subscribestar is violating #2. And yes, subscribestar is aware, they've been trying to fly under the radar.

He's been working with Subscribestar for what, 3+ years and until now they haven't had any issue paying him his revenues of hundreds of active subscribers. If they had issues with his content in general as in breaching ToS etc. he'd be long gone. Really, the reason 3d porn animators went to Subscribestar in the first place was the downfall of Patreon, who have been very inconsistent with their guidelines for a long time now... it looks like Subscriebstar ends just like Patreon though.

They may not have had anyone report him until now or are only getting to older report(s). They rely on reports and have inadequate staffing. They don't usually proactively review content, trusting creators to be honest (and not actively caring as long as they get their cut).

Using IP without permission is strictly against site rules... Patreon, Subscribestar, Itch, Steam, etc.

That's why I said "exclusively", whatever store-front/service-provider you'd make would have to run without VISA and MC at all.

Theoretically, that IS possible. The problem is access. For example, where I live, I have no other options for Debit cards except VISA and MC. Nothing. Nil. Nada.

I've looked into Virtual Banks, y'know, stuff like the Revolut bank and others like it, and nothing I could reasonably access offers anything else other than VISA and MC. I searched for months back when the dlsite mess originally started for a JCB provider, and there's nothing. I also found that attempts from JCB to expand in the European sphere of influence where pushed back hard by, you guessed it, VISA and MC.

Basically, short of moving somewhere in Asia, which is not a realistic option for someone like me, I have no options.

Services along the lines of PayPal exist, of course, but none of them have the same reach. There's that one thing in Brazil. There's others in Japan, China and the general Asian Sphere of influence... but none of those service people in Europe specifically, and even if they did, making a store-front completely independent of VISA, MC and PayPal would be insanely hard right now.

You'd also have a very limited user-base at the end of the day. At that point, might as well just apply censorship to your games and sell them on dlsite. That IS, theoretically, an option, as far as I'm aware. I don't think their service is restricted to Japan.
