The only people who don't see any of this as an issue are either really ignorant, really stupid, or already have the power to whatever the fuck they want because they aren't common people like us.

Itch.io definitely seems to have panicked in their response which is a bit strange, either they somehow were given less time to act, something else happened in the background or they really screwed their response.

Not only the short notice (which is bad), the alleged holding of payments (which is worse and I say alleged because I only know of this from reading their own forums) but for me the worst of it all was de-indexing/shadow banning all nsfw games.
Excluding games that are going to be banned due to the new enforcement of rules, that is still thousand of others games and creators that are facing potentially days without being able to reach new customers, discoverability issues later on and who knows what others issues all the while having games that are in accordance to the rules.

And then you get into the territory of "if this happened to these games, when am I going to be next because I talk about other sensitive topics..."

itch.io has every reason to panic. In the worst cast, Steam can just stop selling NSFW games at still do just fine. itch.io would simply die.

Actually I think itch.io is in deep water now no matter what they do. It's the platform for LGBT VN. If they lose that I don't know it can even survive.

This definitely feels like one of those situations in which nothing can truely be done.
