Even if they find a way to resolve this issue on their website, Itch has already lost too much trust with the way they handled this situation.

Itch.io was in a lose lose situation, damned if they do, damned if they don't.

That's born of the believe that no one will ever change. People can change. If you never give them a chance they might just double down though. That is again no excuse just an explanation. Some people are lost to society, Germany locks them up in permanent custody. They pose a threat to society so until they prove they are not, they are stuck.
Can't save everyone but even the most abused and vile individual deserves a chance.

A dev could set up a public page with his game on it. That's kind of what dlsite does with it's forbooks thing. You can buy a card on that side with a credit card that can be converted to points and you use that with a vpn to download the game that won't show up outside of Japan. Also, I do believe you can redownload any bought game, you just can't view the page unless you have a vpn active.

As one with a degree in Psychology, this is false. In any Scientific field you get frauds/quacks and people who abuse it (often who don't really have a background in it.) This hurts me personally because I enjoy survival horror games (Yes, I also played Mouthwashing and other indie games of the genre), unfortunately, these kind of predictions are usually right; I'm talking about how censorship is not something abrupt and immutable. Is slow, stealthy, and something one must pay attention to, because while you are busy defending the censorship just 'cause they are censoring something you dislike, censorship is just right behind you, lurking, waiting to attack...

3B) Expand the definitions of mental illness to include other minority groups. Start off with the obvious (furries, trans* etc) then widen it until you get to the end goal (the "woke", "libtards", "Melanin challenged" etc).
4) Discover that running said areas is expensive, they don't do menial / farm labour as well as your (now expelled) illegal immigrants and frankly they're smelly, loud and problematic to incarcerate.
5) You get a few CAT bulldozers and start digging big pits. Your food bills go down. Perhaps there's a side business in organ removal and sales.
6) You start considering invading where the immigrants came from because you actually need cheap labour.

These are all very much linked together. Banning Steam / itch.io games in tandem with other movements in society is all part of the same playbook.

And frequenting a Pirate Pr0n site that hosts some questionable content (Loli, bestiality, rape, necrophilia even if you don't d/l this type of content) already puts you on that "mental illness" list, even if you think you don't deserve to be on it (probably correctly, although the NTR warfarers all need to calm the fuck down and learn to meditate their anxiety away).
