Nothing much aside more UK self shooting
Not just that the only way this law can be up hold in a affordable way would mean a third part, so a third party will be able to decide what websites millions of people will be able to access.
And this thread is a good example of how that goes.

Can i ask whats the situation now? I havent been upto date with news.
Imagine you run a business right, for example you sell car parts, and camping equipment.

Doesn't sound crazy right?

Your business does pretty well and eventually you start doing business internationally (living the dream).

Then some politicians ask you to provide them consumer information so they can properly track consumers in their country (for their own political interests).

And in their country it's illegal for women to drive.

If you plan to continue selling car parts you'll have to hand over sensitive consumer data.

Or you can just not sell car parts in that specific country.

It's a loss to revenue and profits; but at least you're not putting your consumers at risk.

loop-io.dev seems to have gone down some time in the last couple hours.

Not clear if that’s on purpose because Itch have started reindexing, or because the domain provider have killed it.

Archive.org have a (very) small scrape of the api from almost a week ago but it’s nowhere near comprehensive.

What's with this retarded take lol. Itch.io isn't even the bad guy in this farce
>immediately panic purges everything without warning
>is still refusing to give people payouts for money they are owed from purchases
>makes no attempt to negotiate or seek alternative payment methods because "but muh indie shovelware slop" won't sell as well with a more complicated crypto system
>makes no assurances that this won't happen again when Visa/Mastercard and/or Paypal/Stripe decide to force them to go full gumroad

They did literally everything wrong and contributed to the problem

At least steam had enough agency to specifically go after the explicit rape/incest games instead of nuking their entire catalogue and then clumsily re-enabling content as they nitpick each and every title

Plus itch.io is the one specifically said they'll look for alternative payment methods. They're the one who specifically links Stripe/Paypal/etc's policy on their site, making it clear what is going on.

It's simply sad that people took this an opportunity to bash itch. But anyway average reply here is really stupid...

They purged them from all searches requiring a direct link to find games, if you didn't have one, the game was inaccessible. They did this without any explanation and as of yesterday via their official devpost, you must disable payments on your content to be reindexed. Unless you want to give your content away entirely for free, it's still in search blacklist limbo.

"They're not holding up everyone's money, just some people's."

No, they're attempting to replace Stripe because they refuse to allow payments for porn of any variety, slapping Visa/MC onto another payment system isn't going to fix anything when the cards themselves refuse to process payments for "problematic content". Feel free to provide an official post that details their plans to bypass the CC duopoly entirely if one exists because Steam listed processors and the card networks in their statement.

It's not at all "ridiculous" to expect them to put forth some form of plan to reassure people that they'll handle a similar situation in the future in a better way.

This entire post is just fucking psyop. "They did not stop giving payouts. Actualy the did, but now they do, but realy slowly. Well actualy ther maybe game devs that will never gona recieve payouts. But its ok, they posted content that should be banned by new rules. Actualy its not even ban in some cases, it is, deindexation, BIG DIFFERENCE". You should try carrer as a senator or political jurno.

Valve at least closed shop properly, itchio went full "DEATH TO INFIDELS WHO DONT BOW TO MORAL STANDARS OF MEGACORPS", and now covering their full ignorance for playes and devs as "we are small indie company, that has only few millions per month in revenue, please understand".

easy on the paranoia there, mister. take your meds and ask your caretaker to explain what i said

payouts may in some cases not be possible for banned (not deindexed) games, or so i've heard.
you can get payouts for deindexed game

That's not true, while Mastercard and Visa are very problematic, with the right payment processor(usually high risk) it can work.
Subscribestar.adult has one that works, not sure which.
Also Verotel I have never seen bug about what is sold.(Studiopirrate uses it and he has 2 banned products on itch) .
And Fansadox/dofantasy has a payment processor that works with Mastercard/Visa they also nearly only have content that would fall under the Itch banned policy. And they get tons of crap from "concerned feminists".
Gank seems to work too, but that one is Malaysian so not sure if that can be compared to a western store.
I can't tell you how it works or any intricacies, but it does work.
Itch has the advantage that you can selectively chose your payment processor, so they could have only the none Stripe none Paypal one for adult games.

Valve caving at all shows how basically anyone can be extorted, even if you are an entity that was essentially printing money and a gatekeeper over others in the games industry. In any case, the same people muddying the waters when a game was withdrawn from Steam months ago after receiving a ton of negative publicity are still out in full force, and it's no surprise. Then again, it's wild that you are actually replying to one of them. I am not sure why they enjoy the privilege of hanging around this site as if they are regular users when they are explicitly running cover for activists that want all kinds of games banned or neutered. They may have overplayed their hand, but we know how much of a threat they are, and we know they begged for every kind of game under the sun to be taken down.

Think about what it would take for someone to create their own spin on a moral panic despite claiming they are pro-democratic and pro-artistic expression. They would basically have to have zero reasoning and a dangerous lack of foresight to think payment processors are well-positioned to shape behavior upon request. The only big brain move they may have left at the end of this is to claim they tried to weaponize an industry to prove that corporations have too much power.
