trying this game for the first time

i have no problem with the game being abandoned. my problem is that the dev is somehow still trying to make money out of the whole thing and doesn't make any effort at all. and apparently enough people are still shoving money up his ass even though it's been clear for over a year that the dev is screwing everyone.
There has to be something more going on. It just doesn't make sense, this game is almost done if the dev would just wrap up the story. It's not like those obvious scam games where they put out some AI art demo and ask for donations and then never touch it again.
They've already put hundreds of hours into developing this game... it would be so easy to finish it and maintain a good reputation. They could probably make more money after that by just teasing a new project if money was the goal.
They're clearly happy to let money flow in. If there's something else going on, it takes no effort at all to be upfront that the project needs to be on an extended hiatus. Instead they promise that it will be out in some form of just a few days away or right around the corner and then abandon again. It's low effort, and big courtesy to people sending you money every month to communicate.
I agree 100% that they need to communicate better if they need an extended break and not make promises they can't keep. I'm very surprised that they still have as many patreon supporters as they do.
But if you look at the very small amount of work needed to finish the game, or just put out a minor update, compared to the massive amount of work already done it just doesn't make sense to switch to scamming from a financial perspective.
I would suspect something they don't want to tell us is going on...maybe a dispute between the artist and dev has halted progress, or maybe the dev actually died or is in jail and someone hijacked their account.

There are several games that had a lot of potential, but were abandoned, an example is Bone's Tales. It's sad to know that sometimes it's because of a lack of money.
Yeah Bones' Tale is probs the worst example of this...Doc recently started doing streams showing WIPs but that's probs cause all the supporters got fed up paying for 0 progress...IDK of a single kidney stone case that was so bad it would cause over a year of not being able to do any work...

Except death, but devs practically always come back at a moment. So, maybe, they are able to resurrect
...or they are making fun/not giving a fuck of there suppporters.
Thanks it's not the case of all devs but it remains sad to see so many of them not posting any news during multiple months (when it's not years) while, for what i see, people/supporters are just asking to be kept informed and not game update every month.

I quit the discord a long time ago so i don't know if it's still the same, but back in the days they was the artist always saying that the dev is working on the game, that the update is coming, that it isn't abandoned, etc... But is there any proof that THIS dev still exist ? Or even that the dev and the artist aren't the same person trying to milk people as much as possible ? Don't want to fall in conspiracy theory, but at this point it's seems legit to think of it.
The Artist is lyin, he showed some zoomed in pictures to show that they are working. If anyone complains he bans them so yeah, they are milking. Good at it and there are idiots that still support them.
Actually, have you checked out their discord? It's still live. I dunno how or why, but it is.
I'm kinda talking out my ass, but they are always posting "content" there, but if you ask, it's an auto instaban. I dunno.
