While I am sure there are a variety of reasons, one of the bigger ones is the fact that a lot of people just don't like change. Had you started with this style, you would probably be getting almost nothing but praise.

I have to say, I am pretty impressed with it, it's quality work.
That's definitely true. I think people's good impressions with this game from the start, when it was all just GZone and his talent alone, was that it *was* so close to the original style. I definitely feel the next Team Bieno game, having assembled a real crew and learned a number of things since one guy started out drawing, writing and coding everything by himself... it'll all be more cohesive from the jump. This is objectively higher quality art, IMO lol. I would have zero issue with this if it was the art from the beginning, but it just feels weird you're going away from art that looks so much like the show to this more anime style art. It's simultaneously an upgrade and a downgrade, which makes it a side-grade and those are always going to come down to opinion.

Definitely understand that issue, GZone and I have always just thought the art produced early on solely b,y him needed changing to better serve the pace of the story, as well as our personal preferences and taste. Once the redux is released, we'll have a huge collection of feedback to work off of.

I'm just glad you guys are finally going to be able to see what we've been wanting to do with the game, at least in general. And then faster episode production, thank God.

I'm glad that the team decided on an earlier redux version. The feedback from the patreons will be pretty important! If it ever shows up around here, I'm sure I'll give my review!

Regarding the art rework... let's compare it with the same scene from the current update (and her normal sprite).
1622763730046.png

The new art:
Hair seems to be longer, which is a plus for me :p
Has better body proportions and coloring
Background looks better
The ectoplasm effect feels better

The only 'minus' I could give is about the eyes. DP's eyes are one of the trademarks of the show. The new eyes don't look similar to the show's... and that's a pity. Those drawn by the artist look great, but they aren't really DP's eyes.
The art set looks like a serious improvement from 0.7.5. Is it possible to ask the artist to do a sketch of Pauline with the show's eyes? That would allow us to compare with the ones he/she made.
It's great that the artist kept the pointy chin! Another important trademark from the show.

I should also mention that this scene now has three unique shots/angles, and not just a static image that just has its clothes layer removed. I think the scene looks more alive when you see how Epadder coded it and Psymimd drew it.

In my opinion, for what ever its worth, it is a parody of a very well known show and people come to expect it to be close to the art work from that show. I found that I prefer pictures that closely follow the original designs. Maybe that's one of the reasons why "Something Unlimited" is so popular. It does follow the original character designs.

And the idea that that style isn't very...............sexually appealing I strongly disagree with.

GZone's style involves a lot of shading, even in the character portraits. So while yeah, I do think the example images provided are good examples of how the style can be effective, I don't think our artists are the type to do it like that. I'd agree with you, if I wasn't already familiar with these guy's styles pretty closely.

I think the majority of the people on the team are in agreement that an ideal scenario would have been if Amity Park had had Psymind from the jump. But there's no turning back that clock, sadly. His style is definitely what I'm going to want to incorporate if GZone lets me direct my own game for Team Bieno in the future. I think he's very versatile.

Any sneak peak of Sam? I'm curious how her goth look was handled.

The character models that are pre-existing haven't changed. GZone thinks having Psymind redo every existing portrait would have been too much even for the Redux. You'll notice that with new character's like Valerie and Ishiyama, they actually have a little bit more detail and design to them, but that's because they were made by Psymind design-wise. But they don't stand out like sore thumbs.

These are the current screenshots of what the main bulk of the game still looks like. Screen Shot 2021-06-03 at 6.05.16 PM.png Screen Shot 2021-06-03 at 10.24.23 PM.png Screen Shot 2021-06-03 at 10.24.48 PM.png

Those backgrounds look really nice. Doesn't look like the characters were touched much at all. My only complaint with the main cast is that Sam's hips are too wide. She's really supposed to be a plain looking skinny girl.

The aesthetic was definitely probably gained from the post nostalgia romanticism of the "Goth Girl" renaissance a few years back.

**Also thank you, I had to use a lot of reference material and sculpt a believable format for Danny's school, and still incorporate what we already had. AS well as places had very little or nonexistent reference material, such as the Astray household or some of the new locations you'll find in the Fenton Household...

if this is an example of the changes to the sex scenes then this is exactly what i was expecting and while yes the art quality is amazing it looks absolutely nothing like the show style anymore, this isnt A step away this is several which is what i was afraid of...

the best parodies stick to the series style, story, and rules as closely as possible while working the porn part in thats not opinion thats fact. if you dont think the style 'looks good' for porn THAT is an opinion and i assure you if this game had started off 100% show style art it still would have have tons of support if them people did it similarly to Baarkin 10's examples

in my case its more specifically cause its change moving it further from the series style...much further based off that teaser. i do agree if it had started with that style there would have been a lot less praise but thats because a lot less people woulda been playin cause its a danny phantom game and more people would have been following for the art itself but there still woulda been occasional complains along the lines off 'the art style is great but i wish it had been more like the shows style' not to mention instead of complaining about art style people would complain that they wish it had been this or that franchise instead since they wouldnt care as much about it bein a danny phantom game

this is exactly what the artstyle SHOULD have been, or at least as close to this as possible, heck if there was a danny phantom game as good as amity park but with show style graphics this close id find a frickin way to get the money to support them. lol

bonus points if they gave sam the pointy pyramid tits shes supposed to have too XD

That's something I've noticed right off the bat: the young girls basically have the same body type. If Psymind changed that for the lewd scenes, that will be a positive for me.
One thing that I always loved in Amity Park is how the animations are fluid. Can't wait to see how they will turn out - especially Desiree, Kate and Paulina!

I have been following this game for a while now, and I have nothing bad to say about it. Really I was pleasantly surprised someone made the effort to create a game for DP. In my opinion, in the end it is the choice of the artist(s) how to produce the game. Whilst it was definitely nice to see how close the game was to the original show, sometimes changes can be just as interesting. Keep up the good work, guys! Looking forward to the Redux!

So just the new characters and new sex scenes will be in a different style while game play sprits will remain as they were, for now anyway?

But later on they will also be replaced, a little bit each new update?

Might as well throw in my two cents. I like when when an effort is made in a parody game to make the characters look as much like the source material as possible for the artist to get them. Some do a great job and others not so much. I'm not so hardcore about it that I won't play a game if they don't look exactly like the source characters. In many parodies they look pretty different but it's still possible to tell who the character is. The new art I'm seeing here is like that, you can still tell who they're supposed to be, but the fact that at one time they looked far more like the original characters and a decision was made to move away from that to give them an anime look instead saddens me somewhat. It's like firing the main cast and just using their stunt doubles/understudies to make the show.

After giving this VN a try I got into it glad the devs made it so stuff could be avoidable that didn't want to be seen like with maddie etc. besides a few things wasn't but yea just my thought but hope with the girls things can be more 1 on 1 with danny like no tentacles or other guys unless maybe it's something without a prompt that can be stopped for example ghost tries to do something to sam and danny insta jumps in to save her or some other intervention happens so it avoids the player seeing the L.I. in a situation they don't want and probably can take some of the work off to not add the coding for prompts/words saying (jump in and stop it or watch it happen) but other then that looking forward the next update looked like it will be a juicy one :).

Nah, I don't think so? I think GZone's said "It would have been nice if we had had Psymind from the beginning, but that's just too much work to replace." I think a full portrait replacement would be if there was like a sequel. But I don't know for sure for sure, you know. And again, it's sorta just a lot more details and a sliiiiight reshape in Psymind's style preference. But GZone still does the faces himself on top of Psymind's design. It's both similar and a little different to Darkcookie updating his sprites/backgrounds.

I just can't believe there is this much deliberation, debate and division over the damn art style. Holy shit.

Love you guys, thanks for keeping it up the hard work!
