Everybody who spends time browsing f95 knows this industry is fucked. Apart from the literal scammers who obviously don't want to do any work whatsoever, there are the devs who have built parasocial cults of personality around themselves and/or their 3d sexdolls. So fans gobble up the measly doses of shitty "content" they dish out once or twice a year and are eternally grateful for it, as long as it adheres to some basic guidelines like no ntr, "slow build" romance/corruption, whatever the fuck else. Once you hit a certain threshold, there is no real incentive for scaling investment in the actual product with size of support. Well apart from the whims or consciences of the devs themselves.
It comes down to whether or not one believes devs on a case by case basis, primarily based on whether they are materially invested in working on the game. Unfortunately the only way to know for 100% sure is to dl and play the updates when/if they come out. Alternatively, you can compare the behaviours of honest devs and conmen. Alex isn't posting once per 3 months to avoid the abandoned tag or writing essays about how difficult making a fucking porno game supposedly is, hence the delays, etc. He posts weekly (without fail so far, afaik) about work done and work planned for next week, simple and short. The weekly render count of ~100 according to those posts is well above average among f95 games, and about what one can expect from sustained work. To me, that is enough to lean towards considering him legit. Maybe he isn't working as much as he could be, but he does seem to be working. He doesn't have a lot of supporters, in which case he'd get rich and then ride the momentum all the way. He also doesn't have very few, so he can abruptly decide to fuck off when he loses interest. He has the right amount of support that lets him treat this like a real job without showering him with parasocial loyalty bucks.
So what is the point of these broken english when-update jokes or comments? The expectations from a dev who is getting paid enough to hire a small studio to do all their work for them and still make $20k profit cannot apply to solo devs getting 2k-4k a month. Context is important.
