Can anyone explain the development update to me? I have no idea what's going on. they are talking about lots of animations and renders, but are they just remastering old scenes? Or is this update gonna be a bunch of new content with graphical upgrade? The dev logs don't make sense to me
I've long felt that the dev's progress updates are incomprehensible. The dev lists seven steps, each with seven sub-steps. How long should each of those take? "Verification" is "checking scenes for revisions and corrections." What does that really entail? Is it related to the art or the story or both? Same with "Correction." What is being corrected? Is it simply things that are errors or does that include anything that the dev feels can be improved?
The dev says that "Total Progress 1" is 69% complete. However, this is just the average of the level of completeness of the seven steps (100%, 97%, 94%, 96%, 92%, 3%, 0%). I'm not a game dev, but I seriously doubt that coding takes as long as rendering, and verification takes as long as color correction. It seems like it should be closer to 90% than to 70%.
How much content is there in Level 1 vs. Level 2? Is it equal? Is Level 2 twice as large? Is Level 1 100% remaster and Level 2 100% new content? Did the dev add new content for Level 1? Is there some existing content that counts as part of Level 2?
I read these progress reports and I have no concept of when we can expect the update. Part of me feels like progress has been really solid and part of me feels like we won't get the update for 10 months.
