So, I scanned the Amnesia file 1.04 in both compressed and uncompressed versions with Avira and there were no warnings whatsoever.

It's only the version that was shared by Holmster74 in the request thread. Other sites (like svs) may have copied that link as well, so other copies on other sites may also be infected.

The infected version was never added to the OP here. The version in the OP is clean. But note, a normal scan from an anti virus will not detect this type of malware.

Any AV with good on-access scanning, as that is the only way an AV will detect it, most major ones (bitdefender, eset, kaspersky, avast, etc) will have this. Also never allow a game to access the internet, though this isn't fool proof as the malware can bundle the exe and not need the internet.

If you want to be as safe as possible, use a sandbox or VM, there are tutorials on the forums on how to setup Sandboxie.

The problem is that the modified games when played at some point may download and install malware, so a normal AV software may not even see the threat when scanning the game files.

But yeah, high quality renders and animations weigh a fucking ton (usually more in total than the engine with models that can play animation live in true 3D) , that's why a lot of Ren'Py games have compressed versions

Technically, GTA V was only available on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2013 and was approximately 16gigs on the 360 and 17gigs on the PS3(PSN version size) ...
